I'm gonna open a can of worms with this thread but I don't care...lol. I'm willing to be criticized and misunderstood.

In the music world, you can be the best piano player, guitar.... etc player in the world, but if you are a terrible "hang," i.e; uncomfortable, awkward, annoying, arrogant, selfish, smelly....you are not gonna get gigs....at least not for long. Even though you are there to play music, it accounts for only a fraction of the time that you are just "with" people, hanging out. Nobody wants to hang out with someone who is constantly thinking about their own interpretations or desires in life. It's about a give and take. Close bonds are made by time and SHARED experiences.


In my view....so it is with friendships within the body of Christ. God created us for relationship with Him and with each other. We are created to have an abundant life...which in my view....abundance means being connected with people in shared interests, activities, conversation etc. If a person spends their entire time quoting scripture and trying to prove some lofty spiritual concept or how spiritual they are....they are soon gonna find themselves by themselves and that is really sad.

God is concerned with how well we love, how well we "hang" with the people in our circle. Not with how high of score we get in proving our spiritual points.
 
Well, hey, I am a pianist. And play for hours every day. All genres of music. I especially love classical because it is less repetitive and has more interesting structures.

And I love watercolors - paint a lot.
 
I really like to HANG with people I can have HEATED debates with and steal be loving friends at the end of the day.:cool:

So I guess I just proved my non-spiritual points then by pointing out what I loved to do. Either way it sounds wrong?


It's all sort of bragging? I really thought we could share interests that others might have - how stupid of me.

..................Or.......... just odd things that we can do well?

Like, if I had the ability to eat Chinese Food with chopsticks......using only my toes.......maybe I could share that?

ya man. That sounds good. I'll start.

I believe that I have a "force" power. You know...like Star Wars. I have an uncanny ability to do what has the outward appearance of impossibility by "fishing" a wire from point a to point b. Im not joking when I say I can literally be and see the wire I am fishing.

but when Mark paints, he can cut in a window free hand,
left hand for the left side, right hand for the right,
simultaneously.

weirds me out every time. :)

classical pianists belong everywhere. :)

you and Mark have something in common (he can play drums, too)
in that your right and left hands can do seemingly opposing things.

who's your favorite composer?
 
Okay - you asked for it.. Chopin is my favorite compose. But I love to play jazz and blues. Now, I'll just bet Sirk does more than hack on a geetar. She has not said anything yet, but then there is Soulweaver's putting her voice in song to the Psalms. Love it! Reborn is an encourager. Psychomom is a nurturer.

Sirk encourages me to look for my force power. Oh, and he also reads between the lines!

That is so cool that you can play classical Jazz and Blues. How rewarding it must be for you to sit down at a piano and make it resonate with the music in your soul.

It hurts a little to do so.....but I can do it. :)

I like your artwork, btw.

Also, I agree, Mom is great at advice. SW has an amazing voice. Sirk scares me a tiny bit.:p
