Exodus 16:8 (NKJV): “Also Moses said, ‘This shall be seen when the Lord gives you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to the full; for the Lord hears your complaints which you make against Him. And what are we? Your complaints are not against us but against the Lord.’”
Moses said the complaints the people were bringing against him were directed at the Lord. Every time we speak against those God has placed in spiritual authority over us, we speak against the Lord. That’s because all authority is from above. The Bible says the unjust despise authority and are not afraid to speak evil of their dignitaries (2 Peter 2:9-11).
We are to honor our leaders and show them respect for the position of leadership the Lord has given to them. If we suspect our leaders are not hearing from God correctly, our responsibility is to earnestly pray for them. Along with the weight of responsibility to lead God’s people in His ways, is the reality of the enemies’ intent to steer them off course of God’s perfect will. We do little to help by siding with the devil as we speak against them.
If we choose to support our leaders by praying fervently for them, we can confidently trust the Lord to direct them, promote them, or even remove them if they are deliberately disobeying Him. Instead of criticizing our spiritual leaders, we should honor them, pray for them and trust the Lord to use them mightily to lead us to a place of knowing God and His ways. This way we can work together as a powerful army - pushing back the force of darkness and advancing God’s kingdom in the earth. Working with our leaders bring a unity that commands great blessing and increase into our lives.
Thanks,
JESUS IS LORD.
