The only thing that really matters... love.

And no, not that awful romance crap. I don't understand some women and their obsession with romance.

October 1819

John keats writes a letter to fanny brawne.
The ending goes like this.

You have ravished me away by a power i cannot resist, and yet i could resist until i saw you, and even since i have seen you i have endevored often to reason against the reasons of my love. I can do that no more, my love is selfish i cannot breathe without you.

Edgar allen poe.

But our love was by far stronger than the love of those older than we, of many far wiser than we. And neither the angels in heaven above nor the deamons down under the sea can ever dissever my soul from the soul of the beautiful annabelle lee.

Solomon

Love is as strong as death. Jealousy as cruel as the grave.

You mean this "awful romance crap"
Whats not to understand....

Why write about it?

I would rather live as if the words could apply to my life and to my heart.

I was referring to the romance that is crap(awful romance); the vast majority of novels that you'd find in the so called "romance" section of a bookstore. No thank you. I'd rather not read about their steamy night alone together, thank you very much (see soap opera).

As for alternative (good romantic books)...

I'd have to say this is my favorite

- Firebird -

although a close friend loved these too. From her summary I think I can put it in on my short-list.

- Annals of Lystra -

I really dont like romance novels just the same, your comment at the top made me laugh! The steamy night alone together one haha...

Although how good is a book that has the word annals in it?????

I started writing a novel about a yuppie in New York city whose world got turned upside down when he was drafted into the Second World War. It's a love story, but it's also a story about a man who experiences atrocities that will haunt society beyond his own brief span. It's fiction with real names and some real experiences. Alas, I got sidetracked by life and have not written in it since 2006! I think I'm around page 30 or so.

On a different note, I'm considering adding onto my thesis in the future. It's non-fiction and is based on biographies of G.I.'s who served in the Vietnam Conflict.

Maybe someday... :D

Supposedly, writing these is the best way for an author to turn a profit.

Sad isn't it?

The Keats, Solomons, Poes and Brownings of this world had to have experienced that depth of feeling in some way to be able to write about it. Even those who have yet to reach those depths and/or heights can feel the passion of theirs words. They stir something inside of the reader that makes him or her not feel so isolated in their quests. And those who've never given it a thought now have been awakened to new possibilities. The written word is a very powerful thing. It doesn't have the boundaries of a movie. We are only limited when we read by our own imaginations. Here's to the heights great authors challenge us to pursue and embrace.

It's sad that junk sells, but sadder still how all too willing so many people are to settle for less knowledge and passion in this life. Dance close to the fire. Follow the road less traveled. It's awesome, but I know it's not for everyone...

Junk is easy. But at the end of the day, it's still ..junk

Such is man in his fallen state. A pair of very intelligent, non-christian teachers I had in High School claim that if you want to understand good literature, you must understand the Bible. Why? The greatest books in Western Lit (after the time of Christ, of course) deal either directly or indirectly with the concepts presented in the Bible.

Fear of the Lord is indeed the beginning of wisdom. It beckons us to transcend life, find undeniable truth, and feel the ecstasy of redemption.

Of course my thesis is blighted by the fact most of what passes as Christian literature has been utter tripe. Yet I'll stand hand in hand with Dostoevsky on a hill, look down at authors past present and future and state "Beat that...I think my liver is diseased."

You could write a book on personal experiences or sharing your perspective of any given topic.

I love to read.. i'll be honest.. Im obsessed wiith books. I'll read anything. I think because i've always read so much im good at writing, and i used to write. I thought seriously about writing a book, however im only good at writing not great, and personally i feel like its a waste to put down mediocre words on 300 pages of paper.....

Saying all of that if i were to write a book i have no idea what it would be about.

riveting!!

I'm actually in the process of writing two books. One is a children's series about the pink panther (don't judge lol) that rides in my car and travels with me named Roy. He is going on all sorts of adventures and learning new things - It's kinda neat and brought on by a cancer child's request. The other book is my memoir entitled, "Oh Yeah, I Forgot!" which is a story of my testimony and what I have learned thus far about God's love and how my ministry got started :)
