So...I wanted to get some advice on something that I have been doing for a while now.

When I am inspired to write something that makes sense and is pure, loving, and perfect, to a girl, I have been giving it to them. I do not give things that seem absurd or poorly written. I usually write what I feel, pray about it, and wait for GOd to give me the courage to give it to the person for whom inspired said poem/writing.

Anyway, there is this girl who everything I have heard about her suggests that she is pure and beautiful, and I was inspired to write a poem about that feeling you get when you do not know someone but you 'wonder over' who they are. It is not a love poem. It is more or less just a poem talking about feelings you get when you wonder if someone is good or not.

I saw said girl today, and said nothing to her...cause I am shy around certain people...and I was kind of busy when I saw her. I am thinking to 'let go and let God' handle the situation as I have already spoken to her several times, and if she or God makes a move so that we can know each other, I am thinking about giving it to her.

Should you write things about people you know little about? And if you do, is it wrong to give them said writing?

I could of feel God inspired me to write it, as I have been unable to write for a long time...and it is like 8 stanzas long, 4 verses per stanza.

God bless

I think it would depend upon your presentation. If not presented well, it could come off as stalkeresque. But, if you started up a conversation with her and brought it around to poetry, show her what you've written and ask her opinion about it...and if she responds well, simply say that she inspired you, and leave it at that, it could work. The key is in not pressing the issue or trying some convert maneuver.

See, the point of what I write is not to get it to 'work' or even really for a relationship to form-though that would be awesome...but more so, just to remind her of holiness, purity, truth, and love--and that those things are worth fighting for.

I pray that she is those things and that she remains that way...and then the relationship is all depending on if God wills it or no.

could=kind in last sentence of original post.

Girls usually respond pretty spontaneous. Plus I am sometimes shy with the girls I give stuff to, so it is complicated how it ends up.

They usually seem to like what I write...but I get so many mixed signals and opaque responses, that I am usually unsure of what was thought of said poem.

I thought about giving it to her then tell her not to bother to write back unless she feels inspired to write something similiar...because I do not like shallow responses or shallow relationships.

I had a friend many years ago that used to write poems, but he first knew me better and after that he gave me his poems, and after that he asked me what i thought about them (there were not poems of love though) and we started to talk about that and i think it was very cool, so i dont see the problem if you give your poem to that girl, maybe you need to know her better but i think its nice.

Hmm...I suppose it would depend upon the wording of the poem, but most women are going to take something like that as a romantic gesture. If it's not intended to be, that might be something to make clear up front. God bless :)

Ladies LOVE romanceful gestures by guys :) And, if they don't , well, just follow Him, keep trying, Lord willing, your desires after Him, you will find one that will love it. Love it!

If your heart is after God's (like David's was) , then you can do no wrong. Don't overthink the situation and just do it. The Lord leads, littlelamb. follow :) And, follow with ALL your heart :)

Here's an idea. Give her the poem but tell her you wrote it for someone, but don't say its for her. Make her think its for someone else and ask her what she thinks of it. If she says its great, then tell her its for her. If she is critical of it, then thank her and move on to plan b (if there is a plan b).

Gabe....why fib? It's okay to just ask her for an opinion without making up an excuse. If she likes it, tell her it's for her. If not, just say thanks and let it go. :) Keep it simple. :)

I didn't answer the poll cause I would accept it depending the person who sends it. If the person is good looking and interesting, at least in those first minutes that you met them. ;) I would also pray after that ;)

How could I expect a poem to know about me? It's something written on a piece of paper, not a person who can know or be ignorant of something.

Anyway, it depends on so many variables. Either do it or don't, and don't worry about it. If she is the right kind of girl for you, she will like it. If she isn't, she will call the police on you.

It was a dumb idea anyway. I realized after I wrote it that it doesn't actually solve anything. Can't delete it now. See my avatar? That's how I feel about it lol.

I see nothing wrong or weird about it. Poetry is a form of art, and artists can be inspired by lots of things, including strangers or semi-acquaintances. It isn't necessarily stalkerish or personal (depending what is said). I don't take it that seriously if someone writes a poem about me. The way I see it, some people are just gifted with words and see a random outlet. That's not to say everyone will see it that way though, this is just my perspective, lol.

A guy I only kinda sorta knew online wrote a poem about me once. I was flattered. =)

I am an artist myself, and I have drawn people from memory that I did not know very well, because I was inspired. It did not mean I was in love with them. I wouldn't always tell them about it or show the pics though, in case they didn't understand, hehe.

I really wish I could do that. Actually, I've never tried it so maybe I can if I try. I used to be an artist.

My drawings weren't the total realistic style, more like cartoonish caricatures. You could still recognize some people I drew though.

My animal drawings are better. :)

One of my ex's wrote a poem for me the day after he met me. If the beginning of that sentence doesn't give you a hint of how well things went then perhaps a word of caution will. There is absolutely nothing wrong with writing your own feelings out for your eyes only. But giving something like that to someone you barely know is a bad idea. Get to know her first and let her get a chance to know you. A poem may seem harmless but some of us women have a way of reading into things way too deep and freaking ourselves out (not all of us, but some of us). Chances are you'll either come off as a stalker, or your feelings will seem less than genuine considering you've formed all your opinions on what you've heard of her as opposed to actually taking the time to know her.

As soon as I saw the title of this poll, the troll inside of me REALLY wanted to say this... I'm glad somebody else said it for me! :p
