Yom Kippur - Day of Atonement - Day of Coverings 2025: begins at sunset on October 1 & ends at nightfall on October 2.
Yom Kippur - Day of Atonement - Day of Coverings. This yearly exercise took place year after year. The High Priest's required sacrifices "only covered sin" (see Heb 10:4) and only for 1 year. These sacrifices were a foreshadowing of the coming Messiah/Savior.
The High Priest would go behind the Temple veil entering into the Tabernacle Holy of Holies. He offered/sacrificed a bull for himself & for his family, for the atonement of their sins. He sprinkled the blood on the altar & on the covering of the Ark of the Covenant
He also took two goats, one he would sacrifice, again sprinkling the blood on the altar & on the covering of the Ark of the Covenant. The 2nd goat he would place his hands on its head symbolically placing all of the sins of Israel, on that goat. The goat was then lead into wilderness (the people could see their sins being taken away) never to return.

Lev 23:
26 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
27 Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
(MY NOTE: Convocation = Rehearsal = Strongs 4744. CONVOCATION = SET APART GATHERING)
This convocation was incomplete, in that:
Hebrews 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
(MY NOTE: These yearly animal sacrifices could only "COVER" & NOT Remove" sin.)
JESUS DIED ONCE FOR ALL:
Hebrews 9:28 (A) So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many. also see Rom 6:10 & 1 Pet 3:18.
(MY NOTE: Jesus "ONCE for All TIME" offering/sacrifice "TAKES AWAY" all the believer's sins, FOREVER!)
John 1:29 John the Baptist sees Jesus coming and says, Behold the Lamb of God, which takes away the sin of the world
(MY NOTE: Belief in Jesus sin atoning sacrifice TAKES AWAY SIN)
2 Cor 5:19 God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
(MY NOTE: Faith in Jesus sin atoning sacrifice reconciles the separated believer to Christ/God & ALL their sins are FOREVER FORGIVEN)
Romans 6:23 The wage for sin is death
Jesus sinless atoning sacrifice paid the Law's required wage for sin = DEATH, IN FULL!
Colossians 2:17 The OT sacrifices were a shadow/rehearsal of the things that were to come
Faith placed in the Sin Atoning Sacrifice: Found in Jesus Death, Burial & Resurrection is the only needed sacrifice for sins permanent removal & a full sin pardon.
Jesus was offered ONCE for ALL (Hebrews 10:10).
Matthew 27:51 Jesus' death TORE/removing the Temple veil (Matt 27:51 & Mark 15:38) & opened up, for us direct access to "Holy of Holies/God's Presents" (Hebrews 4:19, 20)
We can now, thru Faith placed in Jesus Finished sin atoning sacrificial work, freely enter God s presence by offering our "sacrifices of praise & thanksgiving" (Hebrews 13:15, 9:11 28, 4:14, 5:10).
The sinless Lord Jesus "once for all time sin offering" (see Heb 10:10) paid for/atoned for ALL the believer's sins once & forever.
