Something became striking in my Christian life, with the advent of the web. I learned Christianity the old fashioned way, with the Bible and text aids, with many books now long out of print, from preachers and teachers now mainly gone on to be with the Lord. A common thread and topic throughout my Christian life, a strong motif of the Bible and teachers, is that we are to trust the Lord. Faith increases. We trust the Lord for our salvation, rest in His work: our salvation is the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. It is His work and His faith that saves, He who we must believe in, clothed in His righteousness, not our own. Every Christian knew these basic things. Trust, trust, trust: believe His promises we have eternal life and salvation, commend our spirit to the Lord Jesus as He commended His to the Father on the cross. It is basic Christianity you trust your Lord, believe His word: you have assurance and strong faith, that strong faith a goal, to "epignosis" know what you believe.

But what have we on the web? Purveyors of doubt. False gospels that doubt the ability of the Lord to save, doubt His work is enough. You can't rest in the Lord, "gospels" claiming your works are needed to save, that there's some sin the Lord didn't pay for that will take away your salvation, that you're liable to be unborn again: a "gospel" of doubt, not trust, a "gospel" of decreasing faith, not increasing faith in the Lord. "Gospels" that seem oblivious to the effectual power of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer to make sure our walk in the light of Christ. And doubt that is, in fact, not the gospel, rather pernicious lies.

Generations of Christian truth is that you are to have increasing faith and trust in the Lord Jesus, that you are saved and sanctified, born of His Spirit already, that you have eternal life: your work to believe on the Lord Jesus, not doubt.

What follows is a video Sirk found by Adrian Rogers on eternal security. Take a break from the deceptive purveyors of doubt, and hear what a true, Spirit-filled teacher of God's word has to say to you about your salvation. Then trust the Lord, and be of good cheer, that your God has the power to see your through to the kingdom of heaven, 100%, that you can have faith in, trust and confidence, in your Lord Jesus. Do not be discouraged, or let anybody discourage you, ever!
