A mother asked her son to take her car and drive to the store to get a few things. When he got back, he handed his mother the two items, the receipt and her change. She looks at the receipt and notices he helped himself, without asking, and bought an extra item and used her money to purchase it.
The mother goes to her son's room and says to him, "You owe me money for the extra item you purchased for yourself." The Son asked, "why?" The mother says, "because you didn't ask."
The mother continues, "When you ask me for anything within reason, i say yes, but when you take without asking, it shows me that you believe you were entitled to take it."
As i pondered this situation, i saw as to why believers should pray and ask the Lord for what they want or need- James 4. When someone expects or commands something that isn't theirs, it sends a prideful signal that somehow we feel ENTITLED or deserve what is His.
Could it be possible that some who steal from others may also believe they are somehow entitled to what they have stolen?
So now, lets look at Esther for a moment. She was made queen, yet she didn't expect nor demand the King to listen to her pleas, not even to save her life or her people. She went in prayerfully and humbly to the King. And not only was the King ready to answer her humble request, but give her up to half of his kingdom.
Ponder this: What can an action really say about us?
