Sounds like you should go here ( no room should be controlled by any particular person (except as authorized by the Admin of this site) and read rule #11. :)

It's ok....you are not controlling the people ..just the de-railers from spoiling a topic as it does occur a lot as you have witnessed.....it was a good thing as it stops people from de-railing the thread. It was a rest stop and refreshing to a lot of us. So, thank you!...:)
 
Hmm! I was just checking in and being inspired again by all the very true ways to describe the gospel. What I noticed was how some are conspicuous by their absence.

But that is ok!

Remembering the cross and our Saviour this Good Friday morning!

Time zones and holiday weekend.

I just read this, but it's 2 PM where I live. (1:30 when you wrote it.) I've been on the roads already. Surprising crowded, until I remember how many people go visit family on the big holiday weekends. Easter is one of the biggies. We have no idea who will or won't post on this for at least a week. Maybe someone is just starting his/her essay and wants to proof before handing in the homework at the end of next week.
 
Alright .... so ... in laymen's terms, here is what I believe, myself.


God made heaven and earth ... and He made man and woman in His likeness. He put man and woman in the garden He made, called Eden. In that garden, besides trees to sustain the body, God put two other trees. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and the tree of life.


God said not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil for we would die in that day, if we did ... and yet ... we did. From that moment forth (and for 4000 years hence) we were denied the tree of life, cast out of the garden, and now in a state where God could not walk with us as He did, for God is Holy, and anything less than holy cannot come into God's presence without being destroyed. For 4000 years we paid the wages sin pays ... death.


All the while, though, God, who is merciful, is consoling us with the knowledge that He has a plan to remedy our state of separation from Him. Speaking through many of His chosen prophets He points to a day of salvation ... or reconciliation to Himself.


That salvation came in the form of Jesus Christ, the Messiah, Son of God. Born of the Holy Spirit, he was not under the curse we have all been born into. He lived a sinless life. He became the perfect "lamb" of sacrifice for sin-filled man. He was crucified bearing all of mankinds sins (6000 years worth of sins). He died, went down and collected the keys of death and hades, was raised again to life and now sits at the right hand of the Father.


"For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten son, so that whoever should believe in him would have eternal life." John 3:16


We are saved by belief in God's plan for reconciliation: Jesus Christ, Messiah.


When we believe, God seals us with His Holy Spirit and we are adopted as sons and daughters. We are given a new spirit and a new heart and are sanctified as holy in these. God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) dwells with us and we with Him in these holy inward parts.


And as we walk with the Lord in these inward parts, our outward parts are sanctified as well, and we bear His fruits.


We know we are saved because God is true and cannot lie, and His Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are His ... and we exclaim Abba, Father!


Noone and nothing can snatch us out of His hand for there is no one and nothing greater than He... nor can we jump from it willingly ourselves, for neither are we greater than God. If we have been sealed by the Holy Spirit we can be confident in His promise to us of everlasting life with Him.

YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE GOSPEL

God foresaw the fall of man even before the foundation of the world. He already had the solution(Jesus-Rom 16:25-27, 1 Pet 1:20), and the free gift(eternal life-Titus 1:2) in mind.

The gospel-the bloody death, burial, resurrection of Jesus(1 Cor 15:1-4). The OT foreshadowed the blood sacrifice of Jesus(Heb 7:27, Heb 9:26)

Our salvation is based on the precious Lamb's blood(1 Pet 1:18-19), our sins were washed in His blood(Rev 1:5), they are white as snow(Isa 1:18). Salvation is freely given by grace, through faith(in His blood-Rom 3:25), not of works(Eph 2:8-9) or even righteous works which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost(Titus 3:5).

Salvation is eternal and cannot be lost(Psa 37:28) because it is fully based on the eternal blood of the Lamb(Rev 19:13), the Captain of our salvation(Heb 2:10), who is the Author and finisher of our faith(Heb 12:2). Our hope is a strong consolation, an anchor to the soul, sure and stedfast, and promised(Heb 6:18-20).

The gospel of grace should be modeled in our lives as believers(Rom chapter 6), taking up our cross daily(Luke 9:23), displaying the gospel incarnate-Jesus to the world!

The gospel was calling in the OT, yet a mystery(Rom 16:25, Eph 6:19), it continues to call today:

"Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lord? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else." Isa 45:21-22
 
John 3-16-18

That's half the gospel. Here's the other half... The efficacious part... You know, everyone likes to say 'faith without works is dead'... Here's your works that go along with your faith.

Matthew 11:28-30

[SUP]29 [/SUP]Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
