Adobe has many products. You'll want to make sure to specify which one when talking to people. Adobe could mean Flash, Read, Photoshop, Dreamweaver or a long list of others. Once i read your post i figured Flash, but as you can see, it confused some others.

Also, why can't you use zip files? There are tons of free programs that can open zip, or similar type files. This is the one i use IZArc - Free Zip Files Utility | Compress | Extract | Encrypt

Sometimes people are easily ovewhelmed with anything other than a self installing .exe, haha. 7zip is where it's at for me.

Also Chrissy, Flash may cause your browser to stop responding, but not "freeze" the computer altogether. If your computer literally won't do anything, then I suggest seeing if somebody with some technical knowledge could look into that for you (maybe I should start a remote desktop repair service here on CC :p).

I said no zip not because I am challenged but because I didn't have anything on my computer to
open a zip file. I don't like adding programs unless necessary for the simple fact of what happens
when you get a corrupted file even with security on your computer.

As to it being Adobe Flash that is causing CC chat to not work along with other sites that used specially
Adobe Flash, it is a guarantee that that is the problem. The problem occurred when I did an update
to Adobe 11. I never do those updates because I have seen where they cause problems with some
programs. I deleted it as soon as I realized what was causing my issue. The issue was fine except
now I had no flash. I figured I would download it to insure it was the problem. As soon as I did, the
same problems occurred. My computer is not at all old so all my stuff is up to date.

Thank you, Ugly. I assumed people would know I meant Adobe Flash since I mentioned chat.

I will try downloading Adobe with a zip if nothing else. Thanks for the program to use zip files.

Oh I wasn't implying you specifically are challenged! I would agree anyway that downloading the .exe is easier as well.

I hear IZArc is good, but is bundled with adware. Careful if you download it.

It is alright. I knew you were just joking.

I took my computer back to 5 days ago before the upgrade went through.
It is working perfectly fine. I will definitely make sure I don't accept that
upgrade!!

Thanks so much for your help!!

No adware on my izarc. Maybe that's newer. I've had it installed 4 years on this computer.
