Are bluetooth keyboards secure? For tablets ipads etc?

Many people pair a bluetooth keyboard to their ipad or tablet device so it's more data entry friendly. Bluetooth transmits a signal, which begs a question. Can that signal be received, and can the data entered be picked up by nefarious people? Especially important if you're in a high traffic area.

I did a search and found this by the NSA.

No! so far not one blue-tooth device i have had and taken apart has any security be-side the linking part. alls you need tto listen in , is a wide band scanner and a computer to decode the digital singal to audio, or text.
