I wanted to study for myself, so I did research on other religions, and I found the catholic faith was the easiest to disprove. Spiritually speaking, Jesus said not to call anyone on earth 'father' for you have one Father and He is in heaven (Matt 23:9). He said not to wear uniforms, that we should be recognized by our love and good works, not by what we wear. He said not to add to the bible or take anything away from it, yet the Catholics did add to it. On top of that they make up rules and keep changing them, but the truth of the complete bible does not change.

They command their priests to obstain from marriage, and others to obstain from certain foods on certain days- which is not in the bible. The only 'lent' in the bible is in context of 'he lent me his coat'. 1 Timothy 4:1-5 says, "The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving. Because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer."

They teach people to pray through Mary. But the bible says there is one mediator between God and man- Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only way we, or our prayers get to the father. We are not to have religious statues or idols, yet they promote prayer beads, have pictures of popes, and statues of Mary. But their biggest idol is money, they want you to pay for everything- lighting a prayer candle, baptism, to get into heaven. But the bible says freely you have received, freely give.

There is no biblical example of baptizing babies, children, or teens. How can a baby make a decision or a lifetime commitment? There are just so many things in the bible that clearly show that they are not the one true church of the bible. If you look at their history they forbad people to read the bible and murdered those who posessed even one page of it. They say reading it on your own shows distrust to the priest. I was a young girl when the pope came to my gramma's town. I witnessed her and many others bow down and worship him. Even though I was a young girl, and was told to, I would not worship him. Revelation talks about one who sits on God's throne and receives worship. If you would like to study this further you can pm me and ask questions, and I will give you biblical answers.

From what I have been shown from those who are catholic and what I disagree with would be that they worship Mary, they worship idols such as man made saints and rosary beads for prayer. I also have heard about them going directly to the pope to tell of their sins also they wear a wedding band to state they are married to GOD and are not permitted to marry another human being both the priests and the nuns. Just my take I'm not one to discredit anyone for their religious beliefs I'm just responding to the post I have friends from all walks of life.

Blessings!!!!!!!

Granted, while I do not have anything against Catholics as people (For I am commanded by God to love all people), however, their beliefs are highly unbiblical and wrong, though. For it is obvious the RCC is a false religion because they worship or bow down to idols. Do you worship idols or statues?

When Moses came down to see everyone bowing down to a statue of a bull. How did he react?

Well, he was angry and for good reason because they were breaking the 2nd Commandment. So how is worshiping the golden image of a calf any different than what these people are doing?

I say this with love, but the short answer, there is no difference.

Revelation 18:4 -"And I heard another voice from heaven, saying,

"Come out of her, my people, that you be not partakers of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues."

Again, I say this all in love and for those who are involved in the RCC to re-examine what they believe according to God's Word. For the Lord and His Word should be our first and final authority in everything.

In addition, they also amass (not mass) great wealth for themselves and make themselves to appear as being very religious. What did Jesus say about men who want to appear religious outwardly before men? What did he say about placing our treasures here upon this Earth? Why would you consider in joining them if they are so obviously not anything like the apostles that are described in the Bible? In other words, when I compare the RCC to the men in the Bible, they are a far cry from the life of Jesus (Who is God Almighty in the flesh), Paul, Peter, James, and John. No kissing of rings. Nobody acting superior to others. No men going to a priest to be forgiven in the New Testament.

Furthermore, what is even more disturbing is that the RCC is prophetically "Mystery Babylon." Here are just a few clues...

Reasons Why the Catholic Church (Vatican) is Mystery Babylon:

#1. The Queen of Heaven.
(Mary Worship)

The Roman Catholic church believes Mary to be an important aspect of their faith. They can pray to her and bow down to statues of her. In fact, many in the Catholic faith believe that she plays part in being a co-redeemer with Christ. There have been claims of apparitions of seeing Mary by many and she is given an almost god like status. In fact, she has been called the "Queen of Heaven" by Catholics.

Queen of Heaven - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

However, in Revelation 18, Mystery Babylon or the Whore describes herself as a "queen." Which is one of the central hallmarks or distinctions of the Catholic faith. For to them, she is the "queen of heaven."

Revelation 18:7

"How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow."

In fact, Catholicism is the same mystery religion that has existed even in the Old Testament with it's own "Queen of Heaven", too. How so? Is their Biblical proof? Well, yes, there is.

The words or name "queen of heaven" appears as a pagan goddess of worship in the Old Testament five times (Jeremiah 7:18) (Jeremiah 44:17, 18, 19, 25).

#2. The Golden Cup of Abominations
(The Eucharist or the Mass)

The woman riding the Beast has a golden cup in her hand. This is one of the holiest instruments in Roman Catholicism: the golden chalice used in the Eucharist or Mass. The Roman Catholic Church possesses literally hundreds of thousands of solid gold chalices (Which of course represents the Eucharist or the Mass). Anyways, here is the "golden cup of abominations" mentioned in Scripture.

Revelation 17:4

"And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication"

#3. The Confusion at the Tower of Babylon Continues:
(Anti-Sola Scriptura - Yea, Hath God said?)

Rome is Babylon all over again. As Babylon’s “carbon copy,” Rome provides a perfect example of history repeating itself! But more to the point, this woman who sits on seven hills which is this Church located in Rome, has revived the same pagan teachings that ancient Babylon taught ages ago. She baptizes them, sanctifies them, and brings them into the Christian Church. Ages ago, when presumptuous men tried to build the Tower of Babel at Babylon, God confused their language. Genesis 11:1-9. So here in the last book of the Bible, “Babylon” is a spiritual term referring to confusion, not the confusion of languages in the Old Testament but religious confusion as the Church drifted away from God’s Word.

For Anti-Sola Scriptura is the "name of the game" and one cannot rely upon God's Word as one's sole source of authority. In the Catholic church one needs to also obey the church leaders even if it might appear to contradict the Word of God. They are religious men who know the Word of God better than you can. They tell you cannot know the deep things of God. They are the holy men who are better than you. So just follow what they say and do not put too much trust in that good book that comes from God. So the true authority of God's Word is taken away and confusion sets in. It is a mystery religion. So leave the mystery up to the men who are more worthy such as the pope, the cardnials, bishops, and priests. It is like the old days were the Catholic priests who spoke and written in Latin did not want the common man to read their Bibles. They wanted to put their claws into the common man and gain control of them (with them being in confusion over what the Word of God is really saying).

For Catholicism or this Mystery Babylon stands upon the many waters and it's influence is global. It's goal is control. Just as it was back in the Tower of Babel.

Anyways, love, blessings, and peace from the Lord be unto you all.
And it is my highest hope that the truth of God's Word will shine upon you in a deeper way today.

It´s easy to "worship" Mary, instead of God, when I have lacked a good image of my own mother or when I lacked a good image of my own earthly father.

The RCC has used (and abused) those emotional lacks each believer has had during his /her whole life, to make their cred universal (Catholics). The misteake is when they prayed saying: "... mother of God..." instead of saying mother of Jesus, giving her the special place Mary has for being the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ. She deserves my respect (my admiration too) but not my lavished prayers or kneelings.

Revelation 19:10

Then I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus; worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

The nondenominational movement is growing at a rapid pace even though it is not being given much mention.
Since the big wake up call that was given back in the 90's by a bunch of pastors, and then do to what happened on 911 more people have been coming to seek the truth. After going to some mainstream churches some of them have since then turned back away because of false, or condemning preaching. Even though we are to give the warnings that sin can still impose on a believers life if not confessed, we are to do it in a loving and careful manner.
I don't ever hear to much talk about 1st or 2nd Timothy, but in those books you have the Apostle Paul talking to the Apostle Timothy. He warns Timothy of how he can become impure to sin again, now this goes against the teaching that they can't be imputed on us again. They are corrected as repented and confessed sins can not, however future sins still pose a danger if not confessed. ( 1 John )
I wonder if Jesus was to be a part of the church had he not ascended to the sky and alive today which denomination he would choose. something tells me non of them he probably say something like we are followers of God not followers of mans groups. I am simply a Christian, a seeker of Gods heart. Has anyone ever the words a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand? Who said that? hmm... thinking..... lol

"Do you worship idols or statues?"

Actually, I was taught in my Religious Education classes to N O T worship idols and it was explained how God is not in the statues, in fact that they just remind us of our religion if that makes sense.

It doesn't matter if God is not in the statue or not. The fact that folks are bowing down to a statue sugggests they are seeking some kind of favor from their deity in doing so. Bowing down to statues has never been accepted form of worship in the Scriptures. It is called idolatry in the Bible. The Scriptures say, "keep yourselves from idols." Now how exactly can you keep yourselves from idols if you are bowing down to idols?

That is absolutely correct, He would not choose a certain denomination for His church is not a denomination. It is the body of believers that put their faith and trust in Him. It is amazing how many say they put their faith in Him, yet their actions show they have no truth faith in what He said. They take away from what He said, and tell others they don't apply nor need to be followed.
The division in the church by the denominations was made by man, the division that the Lord said He came to bring was that of separating those who will believe in Him from those who will not. From there man has corrupted His teachings, and caused divisions which we can see already talked about in the bible from Paul's epistles. Out of that came the Catholic church in the early 2nd century 101 AD to 200 AD. Then we have the other denominations that followed as well.

Catholic's are taught a false history that the catholic church goes all the way back to Peter and Paul, but that can not be possible when the term catholic was not even herd of tell the 2nd century. This means the early church with the divisions already taking place in them nowhere was catholic for the first 70 years of its existence.

i don´t have an exact picture of the moment the israelites worshipped an idol, the very moment Moses was absent meeting God on the top of a mountain but, that moment seemed to let them drink and to orgies:

Exo 32:6 The people got up early the next morning and killed some animals to be used for sacrifices and others to be eaten. Then everyone ate and drank so much that they began to carry on like wild people.

Exo 32:18 But Moses replied, "It doesn't sound like they are shouting because they have won or lost a battle. They are singing wildly!"

Exo 32:25 Moses knew that the people were out of control and that it was Aaron's fault. And now they had made fools of themselves in front of their enemies.

Exo 32:28 The men of the Levi tribe followed his orders, and that day they killed about three thousand men.

Daniel's friends refused to bow down to a statue of their King and they were thrown in a fire because of it. If you think there was a change in bowing down to statues, then God would obviously clearly explain that change within His Word. But we so no mention of such a radical change in Scripture.

As for the brass serpent: As I said before, the Israelites did not bow down to it. They merely looked at it. In fact, Scripture says that the brass serpent later became an idol. So the brass serpent example cannot be used to support RCC idolatry.

If you have ever doubted the catholic teaching then it's time for you to seek God with all of your heart. The Bible will give you all the answers. Im sorry to say that some of the catholic doctrines are not found in the bible.

Exactly, one has to think, why are Catholics so against Sola Scriptura? Think. They do not want you to make God's Word your final authority on spiritual matters alone. Remember, Jesus quoted Scripture, he did not quote man's traditions or words to defeat the devil.

Jason! if a person is dying, weak or snake bitten, his/ her knees will flex to bow.

Look at this, as a comparison:

Rev 19:10 I knelt at the feet of the angel and began to worship him. But the angel said, "Don't do that! I am a servant, just like you and everyone else who tells about Jesus. Don't worship anyone but God. Everyone who tells about Jesus does it by the power of the Spirit."

Rev 22:8 My name is John, and I am the one who heard and saw these things. Then after I had heard and seen all this, I knelt down and began to worship at the feet of the angel who had shown it to me.
Rev 22:9 But the angel said, Don't do that! I am a servant, just like you. I am the same as a follower or a prophet or anyone else who obeys what is written in this book. God is the one you should worship.

There are many things wrong with the RCC, mostly because Catholics do not read the Bible!

But the only one of these errors that matters is soteriology or how a person is saved! The Bible us clear we are saved by grace through faith. God alone saves!

The RCC believes the church, through the ever dying Jesus of the mass and sacrament saves, and that is not, and never has been how we are saved.

As a fellow Catholic, firstly be conscious that most here aren't Catholic, and may have negative views (that are often misguided) about the Catholic Church. I hope and pray that you can find the beauty and mystery in our ancient Church, and remain in her. As Saint Augustine said: "O Beauty ever ancient, ever new."
If you have questions the site Catholic Answers - Catholic Answers is a great place to find answers.

God bless. :)

The negative views only exist because God's Word is negative in view concerning Catholicism. Nowhere can any of it's pagan practices can be seen in Scripture; On the contrary, many of it's practices are against Scripture. Only a select few verses ripped out of context can support their beliefs.

Anyways, most here are not Catholic because the site is called "Christian Chat" and not "Catholic Chat."

I say this not to hurt you, but I say this in love concerning the truth.

In any event, may God's love shine upon you this fine day.
And please be well.
