Well, truthfully, and possibly more accurately, it is the story of our family....... how we began... where we screwed up... how God gave us a way out of our self-made mess... and... Yes", suggestions on how to keep from killing one another.

Other than one simple thing, "trust Jesus", it certainly is not an instruction manual on how to get to Heaven. (although, some people seem to think it is.)
This is just throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Sorry man...I see what you're trying to say but that dog don't hunt.

Matthew 18 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how many times could my brother sin against me and I forgive him? As many as seven times?”
22 “I tell you, not as many as seven,” Jesus said to him, “but 70 times seven.[r]23 For this reason, the kingdom of heaven can be compared to a king who wanted to settle accounts with his slaves.

I hope that Willie and V-Warrior forgive each other in love because that is the real test! Everyone on this thread must forgive each other with love, respect because God loves us all!

OK, name the other things the Bible "authoritatively" says we have to do in order to be saved. There aren't any. Trust Jesus, that's it. And in taking that desire as your "authority", and living that way, none of the other stuff we deem imperative can hold a candle to Jesus' righteousness that He pours out on our pitiful excuses for lives.

Confess the Lord Jesus (The Word) as the Lord of our lives and endeavor to follow Him and seek Him (The Word). Jesus is the Bible and the Bible is Jesus. That is pretty clear to me.

Then you should be happy. That's good.

I think you need to go back and read to find out what has already been discussed in this thread.
If you did you would say so instead of beating around the bush.

Do you believe the Bible is authoritative?
I think you need to go back and read to find out what has already been discussed in this thread.
Wouldn't it had been easier for all concerned, including yourself, if you had simply said 'yes' or 'no' ?

Again, yes or no, do you believe the bible is authoritative?

Besides believing in Jesus it says:

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. 1Tim.3:16,17

I can see why the so called prophets of today and leaders of certain charismatic denominations are scripture lite, God's word would put the quietus on their questionable practices, their greasy faith.

A great lie is spoken. That love and righteousness do not matter.

One contributor said I was being victorian to suggest love mattered or changed things.
This signs and miracles gospel is the heresy Jesus talked about. It is a gospel with no content. The miracles they claim are actually lies, deception and things that when you look in detail at, are without foundation.

The new "prophets" talk about things that do not come to pass. They talk of revivals and people doing great things, but nothing takes place. The new "apostles" take authority, but when you look at what they are talking about, it is fake experiences in the 3rd heaven, or encounters with angels who distribute wealth, or glass gems appearing to show angels have been present.

This is foolish lying, spoken by people who claim to only speak the truth, yet are hypocrites.

Jesus commanded us "to love one another as I have loved you." But this is too hard for them, literally.
Following Jesus is about finding the truth within, freedom from sin, having reality. All I see in these people is deception and lying, and when questioned about who Jesus is, they do not know Him.

This is what the Lord God, Jesus Christ says to you who say His words have little meaning...

For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned. Matt 12:37

If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels. Mark 8:38

You will stand before the judgement seat and be cast out if you do not hold to the testimony of the deciples, the prophets and the law. I do not need some great word from on high, a trip into the 3rd heaven, an angel to tell me, or a face to face meeting with Jesus to say these things, they have already been said.

If you cannot hold to this, you do not follow Jesus, it is that simple.

Usually before going on attacking someone is good to go to the primary source and not just base statements off what you read from another website that is attacking the person. Israel Mandate is not based on 1 Corinthians 1:22. The only moment when that verse is mentioned related to the Israel Mandate is in regards of a particular question.

To those who say Jesus says only trust him

For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. Matt 5:20

Finding reality is all that matters in the Kingdom, fighting for it, feeling for it, having it.
The false gospel says you love Jesus, but will always sin, will always fail, so all that is left is belief. And in this desperation belief will be spread by a display of miracles and signs and wonders, and then everyone will believe because hypocracy and failure is what Jesus is all about, because there are no answers. This is what the pharisees taught and lived but it is a lie.

The truth is you have to discover who you really are, how you feel and what is appropriate. It is not that hard, but it costs, it costs who you are and what you will become, but that is the gospel. You have to give everything up, and learn like a child from the beginning. It is about being remade from the inside out, being born again.

Willie asked to give scripture on whether the bible is our authority:

Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17

See? I need you to keep me straight. All these years I thought Jesus said He was the Truth.

Did He tell you that in a dream or thru His word? I'm not trying to be combative Willie. Seems this touches on a nerve for you.

I suspect we may have missed the whole point of that Scripture. Jesus was never saying we have to become better at being righteous than the Pharisees. He was saying, "You can't even hope to begin to approach the level of self-righteousness the Pharisees practice daily... It just ain't ever gonna happen. They were pros at that kind of stuff, and had the proper actions down pat. Thus, you have to surrender all that struggling and effort, and trust that since your heart is living for Jesus, His righteousness will elevate your status with God, way above that of the Pharisees." He never meant that by the time we reach the age of 93, we will be living as perfectly as Jesus did.

It is a serious thing to me, and SHOULD be for you.... instead of trying to make fun of the Spirit's leading. In just following the Bible as a religious rule book, you are doing nothing more than the Pharisees tried.

If you pass a homeless man sitting on the side of the road, do you consult the book to give you authority to pass him by (as the people did in the parable of the Good Samaritan... They were thoroughly justified and authorized to avoid that man, according to the Torah, as they read their Scriptures), or do you listen to the voice of Jesus inside you (The Holy Spirit). and let compassion guide your actions?

See, some of the trouble here is that we are, daily, called to respond in ways that we have not memorized enough of that book to be sure our possible actions are covered somewhere in there. That is why, "Yes", I hear the Holy Spirit in all sorts of different ways all the time........ invoking responses that might take me hours to find somewhere in the Bible, If indeed, I ever did run across something I felt authorized me to react and help.
