I don't understand it. Nearly half of the the Christians I've seen say that someone who commits suicide goes to hell because he wasn't able to repent of murdering himself. First, how is suicide murder? Murder is when someone kills another person, not themselves. I mean, if someone chooses an extremely dangerous job or gives their life to save someone else they basically killed themselves. Second, it's completely impossible for someone to repent of every single sin no matter how good of a person they try to be. When a person is saved, ALL of their sins are forgiven. So even if suicide is a sin, it is still forgiven.

People can repent of suicide. I don't know why people say otherwise. It's not as if all methods are instantaneous. Between doing the deed that will eventually result in your death, and the moment of death, there is usually time. I won't discuss specifics, of course, but it's usually not as if you push a button and fall over simultaneously.

When does the repentance occur? In the grave?

The Lord leads, sel, His peace to us passeth all understanding.

You ask sooo many good questions for a young lady, God bless you, milady, keep learning, praying, seeking His Word and his words and ways for your life, as you step out in faith as He leads. Get totally plugged into His plan for you, it is individual, and, it is 'great,' for His glory and your life by doing so living/abiding with/in Him will be so great, sel, milady :)

Now go scratch the tummies of yer catz :)

I don't want to give specifics, of course, since I don't want to discuss methods of suicide on a public board. However, take for example someone who overdoses on paracetamol (acetaminophen). Many think this will be a quick death because of all the warnings, but in fact suicide by this method can be extremely slow and painful and there is ample time for repentance. The pain and itching alone are usually enough to make a person regret it. They may require a liver transplant and even in that case might not recover. It is horrid.

I used to work with drug abusers in a psychiatric clinic. Some of our "favorite" opioids were mixed with tylenol and people could overdose accidentally or intentionally. And they certainly weren't at the top of the list for transplants, being suicidal drug or alcohol abusers, many without insurance, many homeless.

Forgive me for not giving other examples, but this is the only one I'm comfortable even mentioning. In general, though, it is very rare that death occurs immediately when someone commits the act that will lead to their eventual death. This is a gruesome grace, I suppose.

Ok look here. Did id ever occur to any of you that there may be people on this web sight that have lost friends or loved ones to suicide. Let' s be careful not to be judgemantal. About 6 yrs ago, a very dear friend of mine lost a son to suicide. It tore my heart out to see her suffering such a tragic loss. She later found out that her son had been diagnosed as bi polar and schizophrenic. If he was saved, i do not believe that he went to hell. Some one else made a good point on another thread...What if car was about to hit me and at the last second i said ''BEEEEP!!!'' Would I go to hell??

Uh... yes? Just scrolling up, it seems that most of the people in this thread probably agree with you.

committing suicide means forfeiting one's life.
God gave you life and you want to end your life?

being on Earth means we are in the presence of God.
in hell means we are no longer in the presence of God but of the devil.

God wants us to live our life. Suicide means escaping the life God gave us....basically abandoning him.

Repentance is to turn away from sin. If one is repentant, he will most likely not commit suicide.
If he does, he escapes nothing because he still has to deal with the sin of suicide and anything else that was unforgiven (i.e the heartbreak he just caused to others), in the lake of fire.
And I believe he will be pulled out of the lake of fire, restored at his own expense, at the last moment before his soul perishes, by an all loving creator who restores all things and whose will it is that none should perish. But I do not believe this lake of fire experience is anything to be taken lightly. I believe it is unpleasant beyond understanding.

Sometimes we miss the forest for the trees. Suicide is never the answer.

Possibly. Using such a word, even under stress, reveals what is in one's heart. And if the heart is not right, nothing is.

i'm sure the bible does, but I don't look into it because suicide hasn't been in my head.

but i've seen and read many testimonies about people who committed suicide or tried to and ended up in hell.

Even without seeing it in the scripture, it makes sense to me.

On Earth, we are all in the presence of God.
When you are not in the presence of God....there is no love but hatred. God is Love/ Jesus is Love.
So when you are in his presence, you are in love, he loves you and there is peace.

but outside of his love is destruction and hate.

the story of Lazarus the rich man still amuses me and I like it because it makes prefect sense.
He told Abraham to send the dead to warn people about hell, Abraham refused saying people would still not believe.

So people who committed sucided and went to hell, would you believe their story real or fake?

I don't know I just don't see how the Bible says suicide=hell. I don't want to discount all the testimonies of going to heaven or hell and then coming back to life, but I don't really trust them if I don't think they line up with the Bible.

How can this be young one? Don't EVER forget that it is the Lord who kills and makes alive.

Psalms 139:7-12

7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

What does that mean....
It means that I think people can make things a lot more complicated than they were meant to be. I think the Lord will forgive people that do commit suicide, but I think he is very disappointed when it happens.
