To explain and not to debate (i.e. to disagree)
(Important Note: If you disagree, please start another thread and provide a link to that thread).

First, it is common knowledge that people can say they are half this and half that in relation to race. For example: A person can say they are Cherokee and it would be correct to say that if they are.

Second, Jews did not have dealings with the Samaritans.

Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him,
"How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans." (John 4:9)

Jesus says salvation is of the Jews. Meaning she was not a full Jew.

The woman saith unto him,
"Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

Jesus saith unto her,
"Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews." (John 4:19-22)

Yet the woman at the well claimed that Jacob was her father (i.e. descendant or great great great... grand-father).

"Art thou greater than our father Jacob, ... ?" (John 4:12)
ok, that's cool... an interesting corollary to that would be, I think, that David and Jesus aren't fully Jewish, either...

The English word "Jew" ultimately originates from the Biblical Hebrew word "Yehudi", meaning: ~ "From the Tribe of Judah", or "From the Kingdom of Judah" (i.e. Jew).

Jew (word) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jesus is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5). Jesus is 100% from that Tribe. Meaning he is 100% Jewish (of the Tribe of Judah).

People of the Tribe of Judah, were primarily of a people who were of Hebrew descent. But the word "Jew" is actually in reference to the "Tribe of Judah."

Gotquestions and many other Christian sources mention how the Samaritans were half breed Israelites.

Who were the Samaritans?

Israel was split into a northern kingdom (Israel) and a southern kingdom (Judah). The Samaritans were a group of Hebrews that intermingled with non-Hebrews.

Question Jason, why do you think God chose tribe of Judah, be it the split of the kingdom.. Why not the north ? Do you think it has to do with bringing them together again ?

And he said,
"Hagar, Sarai's maid, whence camest thou? and whither wilt thou go?
"Hagar, Sarai's maid"

The Lord called Hagar by name and identified who she was (A maid servant of Sarai). For God knows everything about us. For even the very hairs on our head our numbered.

"Whence camest thou? and wither wilt thou go?"

God does not ask questions because He does not know the answer, but God asks questions of us so that we can talk to Him. For God wants to hear from us. God wants us to commune with Him. Relate to Him. Walk with Him. Worship Him. God wants to be involved with us because He loves us. God wants to know how we felt about our day. God wants to know where we are going, too? What are our plans with God? In what way were we working for Him?

In Hagar's case, God was pointing out the vulnerability of her situation. Hagar had no family nearby, she was pregnant with a child, and she had no way of protecting herself in the wilderness (i.e. the desert).

Oh, how we must realize how helpless we are without God. For many times believers sometimes think there are things that they can do without God. But without the Lord, we are nothing, though.

And she said,
"I flee from the face of my mistress Sarai."

And the angel of the LORD said unto her,
"Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands."

And the angel of the LORD said unto her,
"I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, that it shall not be numbered for multitude."

And the angel of the LORD said unto her,
"Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren."
Here God is telling Hagar to return and submit to Sarai. While this might seem like God is endorsing slavery here, it is actually the exact opposite. First, God wants her to be cared for in giving birth to her child. Second, God makes a promise of freedom for her if she does submit unto her master Sarai. This Promise is a wild kind of freedom. For the Lord promises her seed will multiplied greatly and her son will be a wild man. Her son, free to roam about wildly --- Not under the house rule of Abram and Sarai. But little does she know that her freedom is not the true freedom that comes by faith, though. Little did she know that her seed would not be of the Promised Seed that would be bless the nations of the Earth.

Then why did Christ bless her in being a great nation then? What good would come of the Ishmaelites?

First, Joseph was sold into slavery by the Ishmaelites to Egypt. This was all a part of God's plan to save many alive by using Joseph to prepare the Egyptians from a great coming famine (Which in turn saved the surrounding people).

Second, the Ishmaelites today are the Arabs of today. Their goal is to wipe out the Jews. In other words, the Modern Day Ismaelites would be one of the rods of correction in leading Israel to seek out their Messiah and Savior Jesus Christ.

The nation split because Solomon, Jeroboam, and Rehoboam had failed to obey God. God chose the southern kingdom of Judah because of the unconditional covenant God made with David. This covenant was a promise to David that the Messiah (Jesus Christ) would come thru his blood line. As for God's promise to David having to do with the north and south coming together as one united nation again: Well, yes, I believe that the Promised Messiah will one day bring a united Israel back together because Jesus is the Promised Seed where all the nations of the Earth will be blessed by Him.

And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her,
"Thou God seest me:"

for she said,
"Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?"
I believe the "Holman Christian Standard Bible" (HCSB) captures the heart of what is being said here.

Genesis 16:13 HCSB
So she called the LORD who spoke to her:
"The God Who Sees",

for she said,
"In this place, have I actually seen the One who sees me?"

To Hagar this was like a dream to her. She believed enough to obey the Lord by going back to Sarai, but she still wondered if she had actually seen this amazing God who had seen her.

It makes me wonder just how many more miracles God has worked in humanity for them to believe Him, and yet they still question whether it was truly God or not.

Wherefore the well was called Beerlahairoi;
Easton's Bible Dictionary says,

"the well of him that liveth and seeth me," or, as some render it, "the well of the vision of life", the well where the Lord met with Hagar (Genesis 16:7-14). Isaac dwelt beside this well (24:62)."

Now, what is interesting is that in the New Testament: Jesus seen the life of the Samaritan woman by telling her about her intimate relations. Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well, that He had life giving water to give unto her.

How is Ruth figured in the calculation?
Jesus having Gentiles in his Hebrew lineage doesn't make him any less of the Tribe of Judah. Jesus is still 100% of the Tribe of Judah. Samaritan's were technically not of the Tribe of Judah. They were related somewhat because they had some israelite blood in them, but the Samaritans did not join the Tribe of Judah. Being of the Tribe of Judah meant you were a Jew.

Anyway, if you disagree start another thread. I will not reply further on this topic. It is a common fact accepted by many Christians and Jews. So let's please move on. This is a study thread and not a debate thread or "I want to disagree continually with you" thread.

Story #8 - Abraham and Sarah's Story (Continued).

Chapter 1 -
The Blessing of the Promised Seed (Continued).

Act 2 - (The Journey - Continued)

Story Line A:
(A Walk By Faith With God): (Continued)

~ Part 5: ~
- (New Names, the Covenant of Circumcision, & the Promise of a Son by his Seed):

And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him,
"I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly."

And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
"As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee. And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God."

And God said unto Abraham,
"Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations. This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised. And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you. And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed. He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant."

And God said unto Abraham,
"As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her."

Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart,
"Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?

And Abraham said unto God,
"O that Ishmael might live before thee!"

And God said,
"Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year."

And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham. And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house; and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him. And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son. And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.

(Genesis 17:1-27).

Forgive me if i m interrupting. I ve accidently come across this page, have no idea whats going on, but just want to put in one point. What you guys are talking about is Josef's line, not Jesus's. In spite of the long and detailed estab of linage in Mathew Jesus didnt have one drop of Josef's blood in Him. I take that He is universal.

Matthew's genealogy is the royal line of Jesus (with Joseph's line). Luke's genealogy is the genetic line of Jesus from Mary to Adam. This genealogy proves Jesus is of physical descent of King David and of the Tribe of Judah (with David's sons).

If you disagree (with my above post), please state in why 1 or 2 sentences why you disagree and provide a link to another thread so as to debate such said topic. This is a Study Thread where we primarily strive to comment on the Bible; And it is not Debate Thread like most other threads here (Where folks endlessly debate or disagree).

Thank you for you input and I hope my explanation helped.

May God bless you greatly this fine day.

Sincerely,

~Jason.

I'm not disagreeing, I'm finding out more about how this works... if the Samaritans were not of the Tribe of Judah, how is it figured that they were half Jewish?

by Carl H. Stevens

"The words, "walk before me, and be thou perfect," are spoken by God to the patriarch Abraham; yet, they are applicable to God´s children everywhere and at all times. When we first encounter these words in the Scriptures, we are prone to question this mandate rather than to obey it. How can weak, feeble, sinful creatures walk before God and be perfect? The answer to this question, and many like it, are found in the statement just prior to the command: "I am Almighty God" (Genesis 17:1b).

For the first time in the Scriptures, God reveals Himself as the Almighty, or in Hebrew, El Shaddai. Ell Shaddai is the name of God which sets Him forth primarily as the strengthener and satisfier of His people. A better translation of this Hebrew word might be the "All-Sufficient" One. The apostle Paul said that we are not sufficient in ourselves, nor are we to think anything of ourselves, "but our sufficiency is of God" (II Corinthians 3:5b). Abraham was 99 years old when the Lord appeared to him. Yet, when faced with such great natural improbability as the fulfillment of the promise, God speaks once again and says, "Is anything too hard for the Lord?" (Genesis 18:14a). To know that God is all sufficient is to be able to walk before Him wholeheartedly. God assures us that when it is our desire to walk before Him by faith,"
