Why do you think that word of God divides the soul and spirit ?

The PARABLE of Lazarus and the Rich Man is just that, a parable. Why did Christ speak in parables...

Mat 13:10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
...
Mat 13:13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
Mat 13:14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
Mat 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

See? It works, the parable of Lazarus and the Rich Man is proof absolute of this principle.
The event of the rich man and Lazarus is not a parable. Parables use symbols to represent the literal, e.g. field = the world, wheat = Sons of the kingdom, Tares = sons of the devil, Harvest = end of the age, Harvesters = angels, etc., etc.

Regarding the rich man and Lazarus, real names are used, Abraham, Lazarus, Moses, reference to the rich man's five brothers and the prophets, the literal place of Sheol/Hades.

The rich man and Lazarus is meant to reveal a number of truths, one of them being the on-going, conscious existence of the spirit/soul after the death of the body, which is the very truth that people attempt to get rid of by claiming that it is a parable. It's right in line with those who claim that the comma is in the wrong place in Luke 23:43. They're just apologetics in an attempt to discredit the truth.
