I can't believe anyone would tell you to take meds.

* Spirit

* Vitamin deficiency

* Mental

Any or all of these is a good starting place.

Define/locate the root,then proceed.

No meds
I am not completely against medication.
Like a person whom is suffering from cancer, it is okay for them to take medication.
There are psychologists and psychiatrists that are christian. God created those people. God created items which are used in medicine. Medicine for good.
I personally do not like taking medication due to the side effects I received from them.
If I am in a situation where I feel it is too hard, I will go see a doctor about medication.
But I know many people have been helped without medication and all the input here has been fantastic.

You tell that to a widower too? It's all in your head you whimpy narcissist.
You are in YOUR head.

I get my answers from the bible Jr.

You basically call Jesus a wimp.

Good luck sir.

Yes,luck since heaven is such an offence to you.

I can tell you never go there..

Doctors are your answer. They almost never prescribe what Jesus does.(you know, the guy you call a wimp)

Meds, particularly with anxiety, are help if combined with counseling. They minimize the affects of anxiety, making it easier to concentrate on the counseling and discovering the issue, without being so focused on the symptoms.

Meds are not evil. Neither are meds always the solution. Meds have a valid place in dealing with issues. It's just a matter of knowing when and how to use them properly, instead of just taking pills as a solution and stopping there.

Although I did find after having been on medication for about 12 years I was unable to deal with anxiety at all. I got too dependent on my medication and my tolerance for emotional pain and stress is good, but I can easily be put into a spin. But this is just my personal experience.

Amen...our loving, good Father will use whatever He can to get His children well. He will meet us wherever we are at in our knowledge and faith in Him....as we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus and what He has done for us...we will be made whole in every way.

We have a good, loving Father......

My position is to get heavens perspective, and what worked for me.

Then,if heavens pattern is not an option, get on the doctors plan. (iow, hammer a plug in the gopher hole. It "works" for a little while)

If meds are the magic bullet, why even frame the subject around the bible?

Ever hear of ptsd?

Lets say someone is siting in a waiting room and they are amping out over their past trauma, replaying the video in their head.

I am sitting 6 inches away right beside them, and I don't feel a thing. That thing tormenting them is ripping them to pieces, and has zero effect on me.

Why? because it literally DOES NOT EXIST. It only "exists" in their mind.
They are being walked on to the point that their back has become a smooth street, and has been traveled so heavily, that demons now parade that thing at will across their mind.

Enter the miracle of meds. Rolleyes.

Give me a shot at that person, and IF THEY WILL LISTEN,AND DO WHAT I TELL THEM, I do not see any way, THEY CAN NOT GET BETTER.

Now for depression.
That is a wimpy, whiny, self absorbed, selfish, navel gazing, narcissistic, anti christ lying circus of the mind, will, and emotions.

What is that goofy trash doing, operating in a believer, alongside the spirit that raised christ from the dead?

Again, give me a shot at it,and ,again,if they will do what i tell them, how in the world could they not evict that goofy clown of a lie?

Bottom line....they are putting up with it.

Those 2 enemies are EASILY decapitated.

But as for us americans; "oh no no no don't even think about a no med society"

we are deceived.

I agree with your post being offensive. You mention about me posting the question around the bible, but you have no idea what life I have come from that I am struggling with. I took the step to come onto here to seek biblical advice. About 3 weeks ago I tried to commit suicide, I am recovering. If a pill will keep me alive so be it. I don't think it is right for you to pick on people whom are struggling to cope with "mental issues" when you do not know their story nor show any effort to try and understand how they feel.

I was not sure where to put this between the options on the forums, so please excuse me if putting it here isn't appropriate.

Since childhood I struggled with depression and go between feeling low to feeling suicidal. I also struggle with anxiety. This evening it got so bad I was shaking and struggling to think.

What, in line with Christianity, has worked for you guys?

Thank you in advance
I do not have it, but my wife does, severe clinical depression bought about through anxiety disorder and borderline disorder.
She lives with it 24/7/365 and since she was 17 and now she is nearly 45. What helped her was being able to pray in the Spirit, it was and is mostly a tongue of praise, but it lifted her to where she could cope with life.
God bless.

This is the type of doctrine I would warn you to stay away from. Promises of healing and deliverance are often more harmful than helpful. Again, my advice would be to stick to sound teaching and seek medical attention if you are feeling suicidal or unable to handle your current anxiety and depression levels. "God encounters" and "deliverance ministries" are more often than not wrought with false doctrine. "God encounters" themselves are not biblical.

With that being said, I would still urge you to have others pray for you as it instructed by scripture as prayer can be a powerful tool.
Jesus for you is not a last resort,he is a "no resort"

Pathetic.

Why pray at all if he doesn't answer prayer?

What a helpless ,weak god,you serve.

Please show us your revelation in an example from the bible.

I will wait to read your hopeless verses.

Some posts here scare me. It is obvious that some commenting have no idea what clinical depression or anxiety really is. Without my medications, I have frequent periods of hours to days of sitting in my chair so far down that all I can do is cry. During these periods I don't want to eat, drink or talk to anyone. If pressed too far, I lash out at everyone around me. I have a serotonin imbalance that is magnified by my medications for Epilepsy. I have spent more time in prayer for God to remove this thorn from me, than some of you have on this earth. My answer came in 1986, when my neurologist prescribed Zoloft to reduce the side effect of my Epilepsy medications. He added other medications, depending on the Epilepsy medications. My last depression episode was over a year ago when I had to change Epilepsy medication.

Popeye. Do you want to be responsible for someone committing suicide? Please, tell everyone who suffers from any mental health issue to seek professional help, then pray for the success of their treatment.

Not picking on people.

You are not depression. Depression is RESIDING IN YOU.

See how you readily claim that thing as if it is you?

(my sickness). Uh, no, THAT THING that is squatting on YOUR PROPERTY.

The first step of most any remedy is UNDERSTANDING THE PROBLEM.

You asked for biblical advice. ...what worked for me.

You may accept or reject any remedy.

Meds is an option. Not a good one,but an option.

the bible,JESUS, has different remedy than this thread,or the worlds modern miracles.

So, I take it if you break your leg, you are going to pray about it? Obey everybody who tells you how faithless the Emergency Room is? You really can't have it both ways: God's either the only answer by supernatural means, or not. As somebody else mentioned, until you've walked in somebody else's shoes in these most difficult matters, you don't really have any standing to criticize, and I would think that, at some point, you'd have been exposed to people in great need of relief in these matters.

There are 2 avenues being presented. I assume, since I am outnumbered by you Doctors, that the right avenue is the world and medical miracles.

Addressing the root and the spirit,to you, equals automatic suicide?

Why call ourselves Christians when we shreik in terror at anyone that would assume the word works, and demons use human minds as a playground?

You serious about Satan winning being your default position?

You are actually framing this man's options as" bible equals suicide?"

Lets take a look at meds, the magic bullet they aren't,and suicide, since you open the door to meds equals cure, bible equals suicide.

I believe these 2 scriptures come into play here....does it do good?...is there wisdom there with the knowledge we have at the time?...these are 2 questions one could ask in every situation.

James 1:17 (KJV)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

James 3:17 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.

I do not have a drop of insurance. I can not afford it.

I do not have doctors or hospitals in my back pocket.

You however, poo poo prayer as a last or no resort.

Now,lets get out of the make believe world of America, and go to an Indian village in the mountains of Mexico.

Broken leg. No doctors. No medicine. No hospital.

Your option. .. Luck?...amputate with a pocket knife?...
Hmmmm.

My first option= My big,big God.

Weird huh?

He ain't dead friend. He is God in Mexico, and God in America.

Or should I say god?

Is it possible that nobody is devaluing God, that there could be a matter of somebody devaluing people who are suffering, in need of love and compassion, relief? Can you show me anybody who the Lord, in His wisdom, is supernaturally rectifying all situations, answering all prayers with miracles? Are you that special, and everybody on a hospital ward some faithless putz? Might you be singing a different tune, when you're in pain, when your leg isn't working? Tell you what, insurance or not, you'll be praying, on your way to the Emergency Room, and suddenly finding yourself also a human being, in need of love and compassion, not rebuke in your suffering, and, suddenly, you'll cease to feel so smug over others.

If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part; but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known. But now faith, hope, love, abide these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Depression is not a person

And yet again God is not an option to you as a big miracle worker.

How did that happen?

God is my first option.

Lets say he knocks on you front door and you invite him in.

Your neighbor is on the couch with stage 4 cancer.

Oh well, too bad he can't help the poor guy.

But,we can ask him for a speedy insurance settlement on the whole life policy?

In my world,Jesus is invited over ,and me and Jesus get the job done.

Easy,glorious,joyful,exhilarating,and fun.
Takes me a million miles.

Only one problem. Watching where to step with all those decapitated demons lying around everywhere.

But,I like it

Hate demons

Hmmm. I think you misapplied something there.

What part of demons harassing people offends you most?

You are smearing the wrong dimension
