If it didnt bother you ,you wouldnt be so bent on running in to defend would you?
That's one of my weaknesses. I always seem to defend people when others lie about them. Tell the truth, and that's fine, but I resent lying, especially to try to make someone look bad.

Willie Willie Willie, you are funny. You are. You mean well, but once in a blue moon, you are wrong.

Now then, Osteen, that wolf in sheep's clothing, pulled the wool over the truth. Hid it. We wouldn't being having this discussion had Osteen spoke the truth. He did not need to soften the truth. Just say "Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life."
Nope, he brought up "me's not a judge. I can't judge." Well, so what. Repeat the truth. Confirm that salvation only through Jesus.

Okay, you've brought up what Jesus and Paul said and compared statements from the to Osteen's. The problem with that is Jesus and Paul spoke the truth and did not back away from it. Osteen? When has ever, ever be bold and straight with the truth?

A few videos will confirm what I say is accurate. Osteen and the truth, they just don't mix.

Videos? Did someone say videos?

Myself and countless others are the ones telling the truth!! You embarrass yourself by appointing yourself the defender and cheerleader of wolves in sheeps clothing. Are you still on milk?

Have your fits and arguements about Osteen elsewhere, this is about bringing your bible to church.
As for me, occassionally i bring a physical copy but with two young children, bags etc. Its great having the bible on my phone..in fact it doesnt really matter for me at the moment, im not going to church to sing and listen through a sermon, its more about fellowship with other parents and friends in the kids room whilst supervising! Lol

Hey, you Mockers...... Show me what he said wrong?

Ummm, like he doesn't know there's only one way to heaven or that crap about he doesn't know if there's room in heaven for atheist, because he doesn't know. Since when doesn't a preacher know?

And that doesn't even get into what he said to the person before this. I really don't think God's going to waste effort finding out why I don't buy fake preachers. He already knows. Osteen's the one who has some 'splainin' to do.

Willie, having a heart for Truth is a wonderful thing, and defending others is a Christian's duty,
but,
discernment and who we defend are the key factors....we have learned that it is always better to
keep silent that to defend the un-godly....

the scriptures are very clear on what each of us should hold-up as Holy Standards, it's our job
to apply the principles to the best of our knowledge.....

we can do good in so many ways all-day-long, but if we are not abiding by the Word of God and His instructions,
then we are but lost sheep,,,,

we see in this day and age that the mega-preachers have not come-out-from-among-them,
quite the contrary, they have buried themselves in the luxury's of mammon while their
flocks are starving for want of Spiritual and physical sustenance...

as it is written,
You cannot serve God and mammon'.....

I haven't read this thread, but we ought to be bringing our Bibles everywhere with us in that God's Word ought to be written upon the tables of our hearts and minds and not just contained within a book.

I always bring my Bible to church. It helps me to get even more out of the sermon!

I had a pastor who would often say, "I hope you brought your Bibles with you, unless, of course, you've memorized the whole thing..."

I don't defend Osteen as a person. I defend the point that he should not be lied about, any more than you or I should be.

People, (right here) claim he says you can get to Heaven any old way you choose. That is not what he says. He says there are many ways to JESUS. And there are. You came one way, Mr. Had came a different way, and ... IndaHouse, yet another way, and I came through the way that reached me. These are truths, and it is just what Osteen is saying. We arrogant Americans get to thinking that God doesn't know how to reach a Hindu or a Muslim or an American Indian... UNLESS they respond to the same things we did. In the same way. In the sane cultural thinking, and, sometimes, even in the same language. And we even have the gall to believe that it even has to be through a "church" that thinks the same way OURS does.

''Osteen bilks poor people'' is another lie. You, yourself, know you would be lying if you said he asks for money as you sit judging him on TV. He does not. He never has. You mock him because he teaches that God will lift us up. Do you deny Joseph... or David... or Job... or Abraham... or Ruth... or Solomon... or dozens of other people who God blessed with that filthy "money" stuff? God actually DOES bless us with all sorts of good things, so I think the liar would be the person claiming He doesn't.

You guys claim he is the devil because he teaches hope and goodness. Well, in every TV attack I've watched, he freely states that, between him and God, (not YOU, but "God"), he believes that is his very calling. Yet, you say, "No" he cannot be doing what he understands God to be calling him to do.... he HAS to do what YOU think he should be doing.

And the list could go on and on. But, it boils down to really nothing more than YOU thinking he has to do what YOU think he should be doing. Sure, the first thing out of your mouths is... "Not ME, but God's word." This is a lie right there, because he tells every person listening to him to read their Bibles. Are you saying they can't read? Are you saying that if he has taught something good, that they are unable to open their Bibles and read all the Hell and Damnation you seem to revel in on almost any page they turn to? Sure they can. And probably do. And Osteen feels it is his calling to help them get beyond all the guilt some of that reading, (and most of you people) dump all over them. I think that is a beautiful thing for any of us to be doing.

Why would you want to tell a person feeling condemned from their Bible reading that, "Wait, there's more. You think what you saw was bad? Let me show you THIS, and this and.... OH, here's a REAL good piece of damnation. Here, load this one into your bag of sorrows."

And even if he was not encouraging Bible reading, these people found him on TV, you can be certain they also have seen all the Fire & Brimstone Hell mongers on other channels. They know. They are not being fooled into thinking the Bible only sells roses.

Admit that you think all preachers should be poor, and that the only good preachers are the ones who teach what you prefer to hear. That is telling the truth, and I have no objection to that... even if I don't like it.

Like I said, I haven't read this thread (only the last page), but I'm disappointed to see anybody defend Osteen who is one of the biggest charlatans of all time. During my first go around on this forum, I mentioned how that a personal friend of mine preached outside of a bookstore here in Pennsylvania that Osteen was visiting while promoting one of his books. In order to even get into the bookstore to see Osteen, you had to first purchase a minimum of two of his books. What type of garbage is that? Does that sound like something that Jesus would do? My friend preached against that and some other things and when Osteen finally exited the bookstore with his entourage of bodyguards, one of his bodyguards actually got physical with my friend. I saw the video (street preachers have been advised to videotape themselves to counter any false charges which are brought against them by the Police)...

This is the kind of "side-stepping" the truth with implied "half-truths I was talking about.

Is it true that you had to buy two of his books to get in the bookstore? Or was that to get to have yourself a face-to-face with him? I suspect the store owners didn't turn away people seeking to buy some other book. But I can't say that is a fact, since I wasn't there and don't know, or THAT would be a lie.

So often, if it sounds juicy, we grab it and run with it.

What difference does it make? In either case, you had to purchase two of his books to see him. How much do you have to pay to see Jesus?

Oh, that is SO weak. Again, just us deciding how someone else should be required to conduct their personal business affairs. Next, you will be saying he should have to give his books away for free.

And you're the guy who mentioned "side-stepping" in your last post. How ironic.

Jesus never accepted a salary. So, of course, YOU work for free, right?
That's your response? Jesus taught that the laborer is worthy of his pay. He didn't charge people to see Him though, did He? Don't tell me...let me guess...your answer will be:

Purple.

It might as well be, since you like to side-step and dodge the actual questions posed to you for reasons which I assume are obvious to all.

ok I have to admit I do not follow his teachings or listen to him really at all so I shouldn't judge him.
But I did post that money changes people, also fame and popularity so forth.
I will just say in my opinion he is on shakey ground a nd should be very careful.
Time will tell if we should pray for him or against him.
I suggest we put someone else under the spiritual microscope and take a look at their ministry.....let's see....T.D. Jake's yup that's a good one all in favor say I.

Yet, you are sitting there saying that Osteen doesn't have the right to conduct his personal business as he sees fit. He can only be "worthy of the hire" that you declare is correct?

I wonder if people had disputes way back when Scrolls started to become unfashionable and Books started to take over
