2 Corinthians 7:1

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

No no. They can proudly display their support for sin all they want. They are grown ups and can make decisions for themselves. We have no place in burning their things.

Based on this train of thought, we should be burning down porno shops and bombing abortion clinics. We should be assasinating the members of the Church of Satan, but those things still feel wrong to do don't they?

Peace and love Didy

The porno shop isnt out of the church, the abortion clinic isnt out of the church, not yet anyway. The flag is ON THE CHURCH.Its wrong %100 percent. The only two news reports I could find about flags being flown on the church supported the gay lifestyle and dont believe it to be wrong. That is dead wrong.

Which is called rebound. This is how we get back under the filling of the Spirit. 1 John 1:9

We acknowledge our sin to God and get back under grace perception.

Listen, I can find a study that will tell me it is ok to sleep with another man if my husband is away

These are the world systems and they evolve out of the kingdom of darkness

we are speaking of GOD'S righteousness here, not our efforts

Righteousness is a gift that comes from the Lord to those who accept what Jesus has done for them by faith (Rom. 5:17-18).

And I'm speaking of God's design. God created people with a symbiotic relationship between INTENTION (our "heartstate") and ACTION.

Sometimes people change because they've been effected in their HEART and it manifests in their ACTIONS. Sometimes people change because they adjust their ACTIONS and soon their heart changes. There is nothing linear about this idea.

In fact, it is an idea that God-fearing people live out on a daily basis. For example, I don't really feel like getting up early to read my bible and pray, it's been a hard week. However, I engage in the ACTION because I've made a commitment, and low and behold, the feelings soon follow. OR I don't really feel like I love my husband...he's getting on my last nerve, but I will demonstrate the ACTIONS of love and soon my heart will follow. OR I don't really know if I believe God fully, but I will pray and ACT AS IF I believe God fully and soon I do believe.

Now, if you want to make the argument that the presence of the Holy Spirit within a person is the key to all of this, I'll agree. However, sometimes the Holy Spirit urges us to ACTION in order to reshape our interior, and sometimes the Holy Spirit reshapes our INTERIOR in order to facilitate action.

Coincidentally, this is an observable reality reflected in a multitude of studies across a variety of fields of expertise.

I think with the vanishing of Right and Wrong, and Good and Evil, this thread should be called Burning Gray Flags.

I don't know, but there is so much twisting of what another is saying and so much misunderstanding, that someone could make good money translating...problem is, that folks would want to have 2nd and 3rd opinions

It's like a person shows a sock....one person is obsessed with finding the other sock even though you keep saying you just have one, one person is bored and changes the subject, one person thinks you are angry at them because the sock is not speaking to them and another thinks it's not a sock and another tells you to put a sock in it

And finally, another person starts a new thread to berate everyone in the first thread and before you know it...someone yells the sock has a hole and someone else responds it is not hole -y enough

sure they can promote sin....Just not in the Name of Christ ..at least not without real Christians making it very clear they are false and fake Christians

yet, for some reason, you have to go OUTSIDE His word and consult studies conducted by anyone and everyone?

nokey dokey

I'm not interested in this debate...perhaps someone else?

Coincidentally, this is an observable reality reflected in a multitude of studies across a variety of fields of expertise

you could very well be speaking of this forum if one has the ability to observe the realities available for disection

honestly? perhaps there is a study on flying gay flags outside of churches and the resultant attendance and conversions as compared to those in the congregation who may leave or those who will not even walk through the door

You could do a comparison study to determine if the ratio of new folks equals those who left or would not even try the church

of course the wild card in your study would be the folks who would not even try it..the balance would swing in favor of the nays in that case, so the study would be considered biased

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Define "church".

Nah. A church isn't a building that can be desecrated, burned, or destroyed.

The church looks like this church.jpg

They can hang gay flags on their building all they want. It wont make the building any more of a building trying to be a church.

Much peace and love, Kayla

Also is says only if the repent and RETURN to the Lord will they be saved, it does not say they are saved if they remain in that fallen state. No scripture says a person is still saved in a fallen state !!!

No scripture states one can lose salvation by falling either..my bible teaches that God's grace abounds more than my sin and Christ continually intercedes for me pal....and regardless of how you twist and spin your psuedo gospel of a different kind you teach a sinless working for salvation even though you are blind to it!

Yes I understand that we are the church, the people. But the building represents something else to the world. When they see a church flying a gay flag it looks like the church is supporting something against Gods word. Blessings back to you :)

We are only to submit to the governing authorities if by doing so we do not go against God's authority. God comes first, always. And God says in Ephesians six that we no longer battle the physical, like David killed his tens of thousands, we battle the spiritual. We go straight for their hearts and minds- this requires words. Our sword is the word of God. For satan and his followers to masquerade as angels of light is not a new thing. Taking down their flag will not change their hearts, it will only make it appear on the surface that there is change- like sweeping it under the rug- it still exists.

When God changed me He changed my mind, He did not destroy my cigarettes or other signs (flags) of my evil behavior, He encouraged me to destroy them myself with my own free will. If we push a sinner in the pool, they are not baptized. The change has to come from them. We have to speak to their heart, not tear down their flag. By doing so we are making the statement that they do not have free will, we must force them to change. Unless you take out the root, the weed will grow back.

I bet you know more than that...I hope you know the One who delivered you from sin and sins power?
I'm not sure what you are implying here...be it you dont think I know Jesus, well, then I'm disappointed in you.

That's pretty understandable. But you would agree that we are to physically steal these flags and burn them though?

I'd consider a church that hangs a gay flag lost already. It isnt a church then, its a country club.

You say all you know is "your a sinner" ..Im not implying anything ...Im making a evident point that all of us have to overcome sin and in Christ we can and should do that.

Listen, I said that because the only sinner I can be totally sure of is a sinner is me...I aint got no business talkin bout other folks:p...I dont know if they be sinners...except for those displaying sin in a manner that leaves no doubt.

Ok Jenny...you restrict yourself in this conversation...that's fine. But many of us believe this issue needs to be discussed including ex-gays on this forum. I believe this issue very much should be discussed ...without doubt its being forced upon the church and our society as never before.
