It's not a choice about loving God is it, it's a choice to stay out of harm's way. I mean can you really love someone who'll punish you if you don't.

That's how it looks to me, I can't choose to love God while hell exists

DO YOU FINALLY UNDERSTAND.

Sheeesh...

Your obviously Agnostic because you reject a God that would not automatically award everyone eternal life? Salvation is not a choice to stay out of harms way (we're already dead to sin). Nor is it a collusion to force love through fear. We are simply called by faith to accept a better way, a righteous way, and an everlasting way. Christians don't keep his commandments out of fear per se, but because they prefer His Truth to a sin sick world.

"There shall be no other gods before me."

Oh well, you're cooked.

On another note, me thinks the real issue at hand with the OP is his sexuality and how it doesn't jive with our Creator. Doesn't make him a bad person but it sheds light on his angst.

Paradoxdown you are free to believe in God and Jesus Christ or not. Nobody is forcing you. Its obvious you don't believe from all your commentary. Now all these nice people have answered your questions about Christianity, and had a civil discussion with you about many things you are either confused or angry about.

Now why are you still here, its obvious you are angry at God for giving you an ultimatum you don't like. Well who are you, a human, to tell your creator what to do? Now if you don't believe in God and don't want to believe, but just hang around here being sarcastic and throwing jabs here and there to people who are willing to help you, just leave.

Can imperfect love conceive of the fullness of perfect love ?

Just as a two dimensional figure living in "flatland" cannot comprehend the depth of a three dimensional figure, neither can we comprehend the depth of the holiness and perfection of God.

what has happened to you, im sure it was trying and difficult, which caused you to abandon God is not proof of his nonexistence but proof of your own faithlessness.

Job makes an astute and faithful remark in Job 13:15... though He slay me, yet will I hope in Him. Nevertheless I will plead my case. He acknowledged that God was perfect in His ways though he perceived that he (Job) was not at fault.

The Bible says that we suppress the truth because of our love for unrighteousness. I suppose that you have not been tempted to the point of shedding blood. I know you must've suffered and felt unheard by God. But many martyrs who were not delivered from their enemies still praised God with their last breath from all the corners of the earth.

what has happened is you in your faithlessness denied God, and accepted a doctrine which allieviates your own guilt. I did the very same thing as you, but because of God's faithfulness, he allowed me to suffer to the point that I could not bear, until I finally turned to Him in desperation and anguish, and He answered me and revealed Himself to me.

jeremiah 29:13 promises that if you seek Him with all your heart, He will be found by you! you can choose to debate and argue and accept the spirit of discord and mockery into your life. But you can also choose to seek His face.

There re are plenty of resources which illustrate the fullness of love understood by the author. The Bible says that God is love. your forum post was about love. So seek yourself the love of God and you will find a glimpse into the fullness of love that is in God.

Basilea Schlink writes many great books about the love of God. You can also consider reading Mirror of simple souls by Porete, or Lilies Among the Thorns by Danyun.

when you speak of heaven or hell you are speaking of concepts beyond your grasp. If a man gave you a luxury car out of the blue, you would know that you did not deserve it. Why then when God gives you the promise of heaven do you assume you deserve it because of who God is ? You don't understand even the slightest part of who God is! In fact if all of the hosts of heaven and every created thing were gathered to speak of God's love, they could not even speak a spark of the fullness of the flame of God's love which burns brighter than 10000 suns!

Understanding God's love goes hand in hand with understanding the wretchedness of your own sin. And if you begin to understand that, you would realize that hell is what we all deserve.

Sorry for ranting... I hope you will find God again!

One last thought.. just as Adam and Eve were made to be eternal, so too all their sons and daughters were made to be eternal. But the sin of Adam brought death and the eternal because corrupted and was subjugated to death. So is it fair that you must die and face judgment? Indeed it is fair because you were not born into perfection by the hand of God, but born into death by the sin of your fathers!

i hope that among all our writings you will find hope and even a spark of life is enough to ignite the light of Christ again. So bless you, and may God reveal Himself to you again!

Yes. Most people think they understand what heaven and hell are, when actually they don’t. Here it is:

[17] "Yet your people say, `The way of the Lord is not just'; when it is their own way that is not just.
[18] When the righteous turns from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, he shall die for it.
[19] And when the wicked turns from his wickedness, and does what is lawful and right, he shall live by it.
[20] Yet you say, `The way of the Lord is not just.' O house of Israel, I will judge each of you according to his ways." Ezekiel 33:17-20 RSV

Understand the symbolism here. “Die” means “suffer” and “live” means to “be blessed.”

Once you believe that there is either a heaven or hell you can't freely choose hell, can you. So you'll force yourself to keep believing so you don't end up there.
Yes, you can. It might make you more likely to seek God. But lots of people believe in Heaven or Hell yet don't accept God. Knowledge about it is simply a factor to consider in the decision.

Sound's strange that you'd not believe in God, but still believe in his heaven and hell.

Yeah that sounds contradictive.

Hell or to be more precise the Eternal lake of fire acts as a motivator to make people seriously investigate God.. If there are very serious eternal future consequences to ones response to the will of God then that fear acts as a great motivator for people to find out what Gods will is... And as the scriptures say The Fear of God is the begging of all wisdom.. And that fear is real fear.. But the scriptures also reveal that once a person discovers the completed will of God for mankind then that revelation of His love for us removes all fear..

1 John 4: KJV

18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that

feareth is not made perfect in love.

Valhalla and Helheim. Nordic, or Viking, heaven and hell. No Christian God there.

Not to say that non believers never contradict themselves :D

Take care of yourself...

Psalm 5:5
The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
