The Bible is an accurate account of the events it documents. That's what makes it the Bible.

Medical issues can (if you believe that the spiritual realm affects the natural, which...IT DOES!) be explained away by identifying the demon and/or curses behind it and then dealing with it spiritually. Hos 4:6, oh yeah!!
