You know we can debate all day long about this but the one thing that trumps all of our thoughts and opinions is the Word of God. We are constantly warned in the Bible about how we should act and what the consequences are if we act a certain way. Maybe what I get out of the Word of God is different that what someone else gets from it.

Our examples are the Apostles that came before us and the Church that came before us. These people were devoted to the Lord. And, Yes Jesus is the perfect example of how we should be. I just can't see Jesus going to someone and saying "son/daughter you can remain in your homosexual lifestyle, you have accepted me once in your life, you are good to go."

Jesus told the rich ruler give up everything. For some of us it is our wealth, others it is our pornography, others it is pride etc... We all of things to give up to walk with Jesus and if we refuse to give these things up are we truly walking with the Lord?

And of course:

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

Just like with all sin, when we come to Christ he requires repentance. Therefore, whether a liar, a thief, greedy, which is idolatry, a rapists, etc., when a person comes to Christ repentance is required. There is no picking and choosing of what sins you want to continue in. So the answer is, the person who is gay must be gay no more.
Seriously? Can you get back to the day you were saved? You had all the sins in your life stopped and cleaned up then you believed and were saved?

I'm equating sin as sin. He was stating that his friend had a traumatic thing happen in his life. A lot of murderers and rapists have had similar things happen to them. This is why his friend stays in a homosexual life style. I was explaining that something that occurs in our lives doesn't give us the right to continue in sin.

Does God look at the homosexual and the murderer the same when it comes to sin and salvation? Are you saying that if a murderer claims to be saved but continues in murder that he is more of a sinner than the homosexual that claims the same thing?
For the record, I truly thank God I'm straight. That said, God sees our faith in Jesus, not our sin. And to answer your question, one sin takes life; the other is often heartfelt love. All sin separates us from God, but one's heart as a gay person is often, if not almost always, different than a murderer's.

Think very hard before you turn the grace of God into lasciviousness.

The homosexual who has confessed and repented of their homosexual lifestyle and forsaken it and has trusted in the work of the Lord Jesus Christ is SAVED!

If they continue to engage in the lifestyle, then they had no For sorrow that is according to the will of God, which produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but they had a sorrow of the world which produces death.
Think very hard before you turn Grace into works. You were perfect and had your house ALL cleaned up when you were saved?

Did you know that before you came to Jesus?
I guess I did because I was raised a Christian. I wasn't always a Christian but knew the fundamental aspects of it. This is why it is so important to mentor new Christians. This is why so many fall away from the faith because they were "so called saved" when they said some words and then afterwards have no clue what they just did. They have no one to guide them in the Word of God.

I pray that this person who is a homosexual or has homosexual tendencies does have someone to guide him in the truth.

Do we Christian sugarcoat the Word of God? Some might say we aren't being loving or caring. Is showing someone the Truth not showing them love? I'm not saying we should hold up signs and say Homo's are going to Hell. This is anger and hatred and has no place in Christianity. But we must guide them and no sugarcoat the Word. JMHO

But what if the person never chose to be Gay in the first place? What if because of something in his life that cause him to be Gay, can he still be a Christian or is he doomed for life to spend eternity in Hell because he cannot change who he is?

"But what if the person never chose to be Gay in the first place? "

Sin is always a choice. You/they can change, with God's help we can turn from wrong and follow the right path. God would not say something is sin and condemn us to hell for it if it was something we were born with or couldn't help.

Yes, we all have tendencies that we must overcome. This is just theirs.

Atheists have heartfelt love. Buddhists have heartfelt love. Pagans have heartfelt love. I think you know where I'm going with this. Will they enter heaven just because they have heartfelt love?

"If you lay with a man, as you would with a woman, you have committed a destable sin"
I encourage you to ask yourself, what is a more powerful entity, our sin or Jesus' saving grace?

You're better than this, my brother. The people you mentioned don't have faith in Jesus. This thread is about Christians who are guilty of homosexuality. They are sinners just as we are.

No he was not born Gay. He became Gay because of Sexual abuse done on him by an adult male. He is not active as far as i can see.

There is no Professional counseling that i know of that can change a person from Gay to straight.
No one can change a person from gay to straight but God can. Your friend should have help dealing with the abuse he suffered. You can find a good Christian counselor to help him work through that. He will struggle, undoubtedly, but he can overcome with the Lords help.

Yes mentoring is a must. I never said we sugarcoat the truth, but there must be Godly led wisdom in when you apply the word as a hammer and sword and when to let the goodness of God lead one to repentance.

The application of hammer and sword are better reserved after the Holy Ghost has brought them to conviction, and they confess with their mouth and believe in their heart. Many more fall away from the faith or outright reject the faith, because many Pastors and Christians apply the hammer and sword of the word in ways, that go totally against what the Bible says leads to repentance...

This is especially true today, because what most Christians and churches don't get in the USA today, is that there is no longer an assumed Biblical world view.....by your own statements you seem to assume someone engaged in homosexuality knows it is SIN, because everyone in this country has at least a little bit of a Biblical worldview .....

That is where the church fails today and has not fully come to terms with and frankly is clueless about....

For the people who just quite haven't grasped grace yet.............They will focus on sin.

Because it is the evil or human good that we do that has NOT been paid for on the Cross.

The unbeliever is going to hell for their human good.

And the believer is evaluated based on human good(evil) and the works they did through the Spirit.

Being Gay for some is not a choice. Its a lifestyle FORCED on them by evil people claiming to be Christians who enjoy molesting children.

Maybe I'm not better than this :) I believe in Grace like the next person, but that doesn't give me the right to go out and sin as I see fit.

There are two categories of homosexuals that we usually talk about. Homosexuals that claim to be Christians but know it is a sin and try to not partake in that sin. Then there are the ones that are Homosexuals that claim to be Christians but don't feel what they are doing is a sin and that the Bible needs to be brought up to date in these times.

I feel the second homosexual isn't saved, according to scripture. But then again we need to go to scripture to see if this is correct or not. I believe scripture does say what I am stating. But you know something, I'm just a sinner and could be wrong :)
