Looking for opinions on this question:

Do you believe that when one becomes a Christian, the desire to sin should be gone?
The desire to sin is the Devils desire, just as it is written whosoever sins is of the Devil. Jesus came to destroy the works of the Devil, and set you free from sin. The desire to sin should be dead, or a least dying if you have truly been born again of the Spirit of Christ.

Romans 6:1-76 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
[SUP]2 [/SUP]God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]For he that is dead is freed from sin.

I think the important part here is in the knowing your old man was crucified..in knowing that comes revelation of who we are in Christ now.

6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him,

Yes, knowing this, understanding this, and believing this is all important. But proof of this will also manifest itself in the way we walk. If we have been truly born again and made a new in Christ, and "put on Christ" then we shall also walk as He walked in righteousness, and not in sin.

1 Peter 2:24
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Galatians 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

Romans 13:14
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Exactly!

Doing good deeds does not make one righteous. If I went out tonight and had a homosexual encounter while drunk and lied about it..drove home drunk and killed someone....I would still be the righteousness of Christ. ..they would NOT be the fruits of that righteousness for sure!

True..when we preach Christ and Him crucified and us with Him..we will see His fruit manifest in our lives! His life will manifest in and through us... and they will stop the lusts of the flesh from controlling us...

( BTW...tha tis a made up story for emphasis..all very bad things which following afte trhe psiirt of life in Christ Jesus would not produce..lol

Well yeah...ideally speaking...it never works out that way though.
And God doesn't expect it to either.

The struggle strengthens us. The more you do not give in to the FLESH (not necessarily the devil), the greater your peace, the greater your understanding of just how powerfully the Holy Spirit influences you, and you find your worship of God even richer.

I always get a kick when people respond this way toward the Truth, according to the words of God. The reason being is, what I do, or what you do, does not make the words of God any less true.

So let the words of God be true, and all men liars. :)

should being the key word. You would think it would be true.
Sadly, what should be, and what really happens are not the same. we still have a desire to serve self, any time we do this, we sin,

It takes maturity and failure to grow in Christ..

yes lets..

[SUP]8 [/SUP]If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [SUP]9 [/SUP]If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [SUP]10 [/SUP]If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Indeed. "Have" is the key word.

What amazes me is that there are Christians out there who truly believe in their minds they are without sin, I mean I am not trying to rude in any way but the kind of spiritual blindness it would take to truly believe that about oneself is one of a dangerous level.

It takes true ignorance to claim to be without sin but the truly humble do not even look to the sky and say Lord have mercy on me for I am a sinner.

It's all about trust. Learning to let go of those desires involves placing your trust in him in order to have that hope that everything will be all right. I'm not without sin, but that doesn't mean I can't be content and full of His peace. This does not happen over night. It's a very, very long process and could take years. There are levels and levels of surrender.

. The biggest stumbling block of all time that is found in each and everyone of us is the pride of life.

Nobody wants to be second.
Nobody wants to go without.
Nobody wants to be lonely.
Nobody wants to be ignored.
Nobody wants to be poor.
Nobody wants to be hated. And the list goes on.
Jesus being the perfect example of selflessness, having no will but that of our father's, making the Lord's agenda the only purpose in his life. As long as we have self will in
anything we do sin will be at the door.
The old man dies hard but we as Christ did must remind our selves daily for the joy that is set before us Lord give us the things needed to endure our cross.

No, the desire/temptation does not disappear, but the more you resist satans temptations, the more he will flea away from you, because he is not patient.

God has blessed us to discipline our own flesh, rather than him making us robots who automatically and completely do his will without objection.
