the phrase is a paraphrase of Galatians 6:16, 'the Israel of God', meaning all those who are saved.
it is a highly debated passage among dispensationalists, because some of the divide the Church from Israel a bit too deeply.
I am a disepensationalist. I see no divide from that passage at all.. but I can see how some people can go nuts..lol

, because some of *them* divide the Church from Israel a bit too deeply.
well in the same token, Some with to make the physical promise to isreal to equal with the church, This is where the division needs to come.

yes, But that is not what romans 11 is about. So in context. you can not use this.

The commission is the fulfiment of the promise, in you all the nations of the world will be blessed. thats it.

I do not even like the term spiritual Israel. Abraham was not Isreal. he was a gentile. I am spiritually abraham thats all.
(remember, Isreal was abrahams grandchild)
10 Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. [SUP]2 [/SUP]For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. [SUP]3 [/SUP]For not knowing about God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. [SUP]4 [/SUP]For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on law shall live by that righteousness. [SUP]6 [/SUP]But the righteousness based on faith speaks as follows: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down), [SUP]7 [/SUP]or ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).” [SUP]8 [/SUP]But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, [SUP]9 [/SUP]that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; [SUP]10 [/SUP]for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. [SUP]11 [/SUP]For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.” [SUP]12 [/SUP]For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; [SUP]13 [/SUP]for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
[SUP]14 [/SUP]How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? [SUP]15 [/SUP]How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”
[SUP]16 [/SUP]However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” [SUP]17 [/SUP]So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have;
“Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
And their words to the ends of the world.”

[SUP]19 [/SUP]But I say, surely Israel did not know, did they? First Moses says,
“I will make you jealous by that which is not a nation,
By a nation without understanding will I anger you.”

[SUP]20 [/SUP]And Isaiah is very bold and says,
“I was found by those who did not seek Me,
I became manifest to those who did not ask for Me.”

[SUP]21 [/SUP]But as for Israel He says, “All the day long I have stretched out My hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.”
[h=3]Israel Is Not Cast Away[/h]11 I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. [SUP]2 [/SUP]God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel? [SUP]3 [/SUP]“Lord, they have killed Your prophets, they have torn down Your altars, and I alone am left, and they are seeking my life.” [SUP]4 [/SUP]But what is the divine response to him? “I have kept for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” [SUP]5 [/SUP]In the same way then, there has also come to be at the present time a remnant according to God’s gracious choice. [SUP]6 [/SUP]But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]What then? What Israel is seeking, it has not obtained, but those who were chosen obtained it, and the rest were hardened; [SUP]8 [/SUP]just as it is written,
“God gave them a spirit of stupor,
Eyes to see not and ears to hear not,
Down to this very day.”

[SUP]9 [/SUP]And David says,
“Let their table become a snare and a trap,
And a stumbling block and a retribution to them.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]“Let their eyes be darkened to see not,
And bend their backs forever.”

[SUP]11 [/SUP]I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall, did they? May it never be! But by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make them jealous. [SUP]12 [/SUP]Now if their transgression is riches for the world and their failure is riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their fulfillment be! [SUP]13 [/SUP]But I am speaking to you who are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I magnify my ministry, [SUP]14 [/SUP]if somehow I might move to jealousy my fellow countrymen and save some of them. [SUP]15 [/SUP]For if their rejection is the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? [SUP]16 [/SUP]If the first piece of dough is holy, the lump is also; and if the root is holy, the branches are too.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree, [SUP]18 [/SUP]do not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you. [SUP]19 [/SUP]You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” [SUP]20 [/SUP]Quite right, they were broken off for their unbelief, but you stand by your faith. Do not be conceited, but fear; [SUP]21 [/SUP]for if God did not spare the natural branches, He will not spare you, either. [SUP]22 [/SUP]Behold then the kindness and severity of God; to those who fell, severity, but to you, God’s kindness, if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off. [SUP]23 [/SUP]And they also, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. [SUP]24 [/SUP]For if you were cut off from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these who are the natural branches be grafted into their own olive tree?
[SUP]25 [/SUP]For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery—so that you will not be wise in your own estimation—that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; [SUP]26 [/SUP]and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written,
“The Deliverer will come from Zion,
He will remove ungodliness from Jacob.”
[SUP]27 [/SUP]“This is My covenant with them,
When I take away their sins.”

[SUP]28 [/SUP]From the standpoint of the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but from the standpoint of God’s choice they are beloved for the sake of the fathers; [SUP]29 [/SUP]for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. [SUP]30 [/SUP]For just as you once were disobedient to God, but now have been shown mercy because of their disobedience, [SUP]31 [/SUP]so these also now have been disobedient, that because of the mercy shown to you they also may now be shown mercy. [SUP]32 [/SUP]For God has shut up all in disobedience so that He may show mercy to all.
[SUP]33 [/SUP]Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways! [SUP]34 [/SUP]For who has known the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor? [SUP]35 [/SUP]Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to him again? [SUP]36 [/SUP]For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.

yep and it does not change what it says.

1. Israel is blinded in part (not all Israel are unbelievers, many are saved, even today)
2. At one time, ( a time called the end of of the age of the gentiles) Isreal will repent, and "all isreal will be saved"
3. That Israel (unbelieving) is our enemy concerning the gospel. but beloved because of the election (what made even unbelieving Israel the elect?)

This can not be spiritual isreal. because in context. Paul speaks of saved gentiles, and calles them gentiles. and saved Isreal. and calles them saved sireal (the part which is not blinded)

why do you think Paul tells us not to be uninformed of this mystery, what mystery do you think he is talking about?

Look people, Gods word is hidden and He only reveals to those it He wants it revealed to. I can give proof. When Jesus spoke, He spoke in parables, so that he had eyes to see and ears to hear could only understand, meaning us as the Holy Spirit reveals the word to us believers. But when alone with His disciples, He would explain the meaning of the parables. That's why atheist and nonbelievers cannot understand the word of God. That's why Paul said that the preaching of the gospel is foolishness to them that do not believe, but unto us who are saved it is the power of God.

Romans 2:28-29 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God.

[SUP]21 [/SUP]Tell me, you who want to be under law, do you not listen to the law? [SUP]22 [/SUP]For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the bondwoman and one by the free woman. [SUP]23 [/SUP]But the son by the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and the son by the free woman through the promise. [SUP]24 [/SUP]This is allegorically speaking, for these women are two covenants: one proceeding from Mount Sinai bearing children who are to be slaves; she is Hagar. [SUP]25[/SUP]Now this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. [SUP]26 [/SUP]But the Jerusalem above is free; she is our mother.

Matthew 24:3-34 New King James Version (NKJV)

The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age

3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations,
and then the end will come.

The Great Tribulation

15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’[c] spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.
23 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand.

26 “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 28 For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.

The Coming of the Son of Man

29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

The Parable of the Fig Tree

32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it[d] is near—at the doors!34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.

What "things" is Jesus referring to? Clearly He's referring to what He has just elucidated from verse four through verse 31. In other words, the generation that sees all the things (not some, not most, but ALL)

The all-important question is, have all the events spoken of by Jesus taken place as they were taught by Him? A clue to understanding this is a detail such as is found in vs. 9 - "you will be hated by all nations on account of my name"

Factors that need to be considered are: vs. 12 and "most people's love will grow cold". The context of this verse is Christ talking about believers. Was this happening to a marked degree in AD 70? There's no biblical or extra biblical support for such a conclusion. Then, in vs. 14, "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world..." Had the entire world heard the message of the gospel by AD 70? The preterist sites Romans 1:8 as support that the gospel had indeed reached the entire world

2 Timothy 2:16-18 New King James Version (NKJV)

16 But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. 17 And their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, 18 who have strayed concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection is already past; and they overthrow the faith of some.

isn't this what gnostics believed? isn't there a whole book of the Bible going against this? why is there need for a post?

But scripture also says Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, (John 11:25)

So the resurrection has not past, but is ongoing. Believe in Jesus and you will live even if you die.

God says He see's the end from the beginning. Read Genesis backwards and it shows the end times. Not the actually word backwards, but the events.

Would that start in chapter 50, or somewhere else?

You don't think that it's God's plan to take us back to Genesis Chapter 2? In order to be redeemed you had to be deemed at some point. What did man fall from and what is God bringing us back to? I meant Noah , the rapture, the destruction of the tower of Babel and so on. well even in Exodus and forward. The redemption of Israel from Egypt ( the Kingdom age) as I said read it backwards the end from the beginning.

We are not all judged yet.

Isaiah 26:19

But your dead will live, LORD; their bodies will rise-- let those who dwell in the dust wake up and shout for joy-- your dew is like the dew of the morning; the earth will give birth to her dead.

Revelation 20:12-13

And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds.13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds.

This is at the beginning of the same book!
This only shows the difference between a Jew by nationality (thru Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) only without the faith of Abraham and a Jew with saving faith.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

This is also the scriptures used to explain the rapture. The caught up part in this scripture comes from the greek word harpazo, which means to seize or snatch away. Harpazo was then translated in Latin as rapturo which is where we then get the English word rapture.

but the resurrection of our bodies...future...

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

NASB - same verse
[SUP]15 [/SUP]For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.

These translations are basically the same, I just quoted another translation for reference.

I guess Paul thought Jesus was coming sooner than 2,000 years. Maybe he was wrong, just like I am (apparently), or maybe everyone else just missed it.

Right, so why is hard to believe that Jesus came in Judgment against prostate Israel, and uses the same language that He used in past, as to regards of His coming?
Because Israel was still under the extended judgement and punishment from the Babylonian enslavement, they messed up from day 1 of freedom by not fully complying with what God told them, so God extended the punishment by 7 times. That came to an end at around 1940.

Romans 2:28-29 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God.

This is at the beginning of the same book!

context bro.

That passage is talking about who is saved and who is not.

Romans 11 is speaking of Gods promise to Natural Israel.

Romans 11 is speaking of Gods promise to Natural Israel.

The Promises to Natural Israel are the same promises to the gentiles who are not saved by faith in Jesus, they are grafted in again to the stock of the tree, the root (Christ) the same way, in this manner in which the un-believing gentile, the wild branches, are grafted in.
