I have a split personality on the matter.

I think that faith in Jesus = salvation, and I don't think God goes back on His promises.
... but then there's always that "What is a person looses faith?"
(And if someone says "they were never saved/ never believed to begin with" I will take my cyversword and run after you)
Well, I neither know what a cyversword is, nor, assuming that was a typo, what a cybersword is either. (A little scary that my spell checker believes the word cybersword is a real word though. lol)

Will you skewer me for thinking maybe the person did believe in some ways, but was never saved? Jesus promised that all the Father gave him he would keep, so apparently his saved is eternal. Belief may or may not be eternal. I spent 30 years completely believing the Eagles wound win the Super Bowl that season. Obviously, I was wrong. So, not so much about if a person does believe but what has the Lord given for that belief?

Salvation is based on one thing only and that is belief that Jesus is God.

How can you stop believing Jesus is God? If you have doubts that Jesus is God then you really have not received Salvation yet.

Too many people put conditions on receiving Salvation. They teach there are hoops one must jump through to receive Salvation!

Also there are those who believe we can lose our Salvation. No where in the Scriptures does God say we can lose our Salvation.
Hm. Interesting. Satan believes Jesus is God.

I think one of the hoops people prefer jumping through is thinking they had something to do with their own salvation... like say thinking it's believing in God.

I'm the only one, thus far, that answered "don't know". Like the shepherd that goes off looking for that one lost sheep, I am certain that those parts (sheep) of me, are saved, but, still out searching for parts of me (lost sheep). I won't know for a certainty how many of the sheep (parts of me) are saved, until I'm standing in front of the Judge.
If it helps any, you're not a lamb chop or a lamb shank. You're the whole sheep. No parts. Whole.

*Vikings stopped in Slavic countries as every invader in history*

Nobody can be saved without being actually saved, its logically inconsistent. So who is not saved was never saved.
Ah, but, you do not take into account "the great falling away." God will NEVER forsake US........does not mean WE will NEVER forsake Him.

Faith is 100% sure of Salvation.

Thoughts and schemes of the enemy of our soul try to shake this faith to make it no faith.

Its a fight and some are battle weary. Its why encouragement is so important. To remind each other of the faith and hope they have.

Romans 8:35-39
[SUP]35 [/SUP]Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
[SUP]36 [/SUP]As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
[SUP]37 [/SUP]Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
[SUP]38 [/SUP]For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
[SUP]39 [/SUP]Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The ONE statement Paul left out was:

NOR WE OURSELVES WITH OUR DISOBEDIENCE TO HIM......... just saying

Just to clarify: As I read the Poll question, I do not see where it addresses once saved, always saved. It simply asks if we know for sure we are saved ........right? Big difference there.

All true believers who walk daily with Christ, and faint not can be certain they are saved through Him for all eternity.

I know I am saved today, I do not know where I will be a year from now. But I pray I do not turn from Him.

Psalm 15 -

Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord?
Who may enter your presence on your holy hill?
Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right,
speaking the truth from sincere hearts.
Those who refuse to gossip
or harm their neighbors
or speak evil of their friends.
Those who despise flagrant sinners,
and honor the faithful followers of the Lord,
and keep their promises even when it hurts.
Those who lend money without charging interest,
and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent.
Such people will stand firm forever.

Thanks, Good stuff.

I would suggest looking at it from another perspective. We have a living (the key) hope that goes beyond hope, being previously being dead in our trespasses and sins without hope and without God as our savior.

The faith of Christ (the anointing Holy Spirit of God ) as that which comes from hearing God through His living word, abides in us .He gives us a living (the key)hope that will not return void .

We can look to faith of Abraham; having it in regard to the same mutual faith given to any who believe God, as it is written .Abraham as an old testament type or shadow is used as a metaphor to represent our Father in heaven (the father of many nations that we call denominations) He is the Spiritual Father of us all. Who like us according to Romans against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed (as in one, spiritual seed representing Christ) be. As we are informed in Romans of that living (key) hope, not of our own selves as that which will not disappoint the believer. But rather give them a unseen living ,abiding confidence.

Rom 8:24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

Christ is our living confidence,as we are inform in Philippians. If he has begun the good work of salvation in us he will finish to the end. So we do have a living Hope, it is just not in respect to us.

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

He didn't mention tornadoes, either.

I guess that's 2 things to worry about now.

If you're into that sort of thing...

1 John 5:11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

I think this passage highlights well the difference between two major views of salvation. The word translated have above can also be translated to hold.

One view holds that we have salvation as a possession that we can never lose, no matter what we do.

The other view holds that we have salvation as a possession that we can never lose, as we hold onto it through persevering faith.

I've redone the above passage to reflect this view:

1 John 5:11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who holds the Son has life; he who does not hold the Son of God does not hold life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you hold eternal life, and the ones believing in the name of the Son of God.

Who, HeRoseFromTheDead, has given you the right to rewrite the Scriptures to what YOU want the Scriptures to say?

Its by Grace and Faith! Not by holding onto Jesus!

The reason HeRoseFromTheDead believes this is because he also believes and teaches Salvation is only received when we receive Baptism. This viewpoint has blinded his eyes to the Truth in the Scriptures we receive Salvation as a gift by Grace and Faith only.

Its not by holding onto Jesus, its ONLY by believing in Jesus and nothing more.

Tell us HeRoseFromTheDead, will you ever receive the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit? Or will you keep on teaching your version on how one receives Salvation?

I think a now-and-again fainting doesn't kill God's gift off. I'm pretty sure I've fainted here and there, but he revived me.

Wait! So, like, my car isn't my possession unless I'm holding on to it? And my love isn't my love unless I'm holding on to it?
