Who said Santi beleives we are to eat him literally?

If I write on a piece of paper what I am to know, and then eat that piece of paper, and it serves me to REMEMBER what is on it, then who can say I am wrong for doing that?

Exactly. Don't you?

What is getting down on your knees at the edge of your bed?

we spoke of people that thought Yahshua the Messiah wanted them to eat him.

Not partake in a symbolic act.. but eat him.

i told the young man he did not either eat Yahshua the Messiah in the way we spoke of..

read the chapter and see what offended the people.

John 6

The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 53Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. 54Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. 57As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. 58This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

59These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

60Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? 61When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? 62What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? 63It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. 64But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. 65And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father

read it for yourself.

maybe the Catholic Church says that it is literally His body and blood?

To die for one's brother is the greatest of things.

Shall I die for myself? then what have I accomplished but death?? ...........

Learn of Yahshua the Messiah sent by Yahvah God that died for "you" to accomplish more than you or i could ever do for "ourselves"

Then you will accomplish more than death if you suffer for your brothers sake.

We are what we eat and cleansed refreshed renewed by drinking waters of life renews our minds giving us the mind of Christ.
By Christ first coming and sowing the seed of His Word of God that came out from his heart from inside Him this came out from as fruits of his lips that fruits that bears its seed with in its self.
The Words He spoke were spirit and life He had in Him eternal life spirit of eternal life, life everlasting and He sowed His seed that was the Word of God unto man.

Yet as He himself was manifested in the flesh for this same ministry of being the sower and testimony speaking the Word of God which is The Truth out from inside Him vesseled manifested in the flesh.
His flesh appeared He liveth and had life in Him even that everlasting life was found In Him who spoke it forth out from Him.
His flesh would be and was given up as the sacrifice atonement for our sin instead of clothing us with the garments of skins of animals to cover or shame we would be clothed with garments of praise that praise His flesh which was given up to cover our nakedness and shame with.

Yet for this flesh came only by His death bleeding dying for us to be clothed in Him to put Him on to be covered by Him on the outside. We would be clothed with His garment of praise unto thanks given unto the Father thanksgiving for the Son of God that Christ sent forth from God who gave us His clothes and cover our shame.
From the inside out our heart would be sprinkled with His blood giving us a new heart His own blood where His life was in that blood we are given a new spirit new heart newness of life given unto us the spirit of that life in us being the Son of Gods life which was spirit and life.

And all those things He spoke which were Words of spirit and life unto us as He spoke them to them before He gave Him self up to death were laid up as manna that bread of life He sowed by seed to them. To become that very manna from heaven bread of life hidden and laid up in Him. When He would be glorified through death on the cross resurrection and ascending down again raining down the watering of the Holy Spirit rains waters that Spirit which would fill us up on the inside watering that seed He the Sower sowed giving it life measured unto it which is in us and remains in us who are to keep it.
The seed becomes bread heavenly bread of life manna from God hidden in the Son of God The Word of God hidden and manifested in Flesh.
1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Then glory glorification time came for all things to be fulfilled and given gifts heavenly pure form god gifts of light that are life unto all who receive them.
Christ crucified Christ died Christ raised and Christ sends back that promise that very same spirit of promise unto us.
Comfort balm healing measuring out unto us all things that are unto life and Salvation and keeping not taking from us by retaining us in Him and His way even unto that day of redemption.
1 John 5:8
And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
John 14:17
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

The cleaning the cup on the inside so our out sides will be garmented clothed in Him by receiving His Word in good ground and partaking of every Word that comes and came for the mouth of Him who was God manifested in the flesh. Filling our cup up with waters of everlasting life and new wine his blood and by fire the holy spirit who fills us an seals us and washes and dresses us on the out side this is our hope and there is no shame found in Him our God of hope. He who feeds his food his bread from his table laid up for us He gives us His water he leads us unto all Truth which is God and in God all Truth is He gives us all things for we have nothing of our self that is like a god but Him who is God gives us all things that are from Him even what he had stored up for us laid up for us He purposed and planned to give unto us.

We have nothing but what the Lord our God gave and gives unto all those who love Him so we grow up by His substance which is not tangible but of everlasting eternal of heaven down even into earth vessels of clay.
We walk in newness of life we walk with Him in this spirit that is new unto all who are regenerated by it. We talk of Him honoring Him praising Him glorifying the Son of God our Lord Jesus Christ whom we wear as a testimony of His grace given unto us.
We glorify the Father by glorifying His Son and lifting Him up in honor praise and love so all men see Him where all life comes from eternal life even comes by and through Him.

We eat his flesh to be clothed from the inside out with His own flesh the flesh is His own image that very image that came The Only begotten Son of God Christ Jesus we are hidden in Him. We our flesh and shame is hidden in His very flesh his likeness we give is Him who bears that likeness unto others,

And we continue in this abide in this remain in this and even grown and abound in this that comes and came from The Father the Word and The Holy Ghost.

We eat not our own bread we wear not our own garment we clothe not our selves in our own self which is vanity and pride we eat not our bread which is lies and no Truth found in it.
We instead testify we have nothing of our selves and are nothing in our selves all we have comes down form God the father of Lights. Unto all who will seek Him and out of Love seeking Him their desires are turned and given unto obtaining Him and giving their selves up unto Him they put their heart mind and soul unto.

We have nothing to glory about in our own selves their is no glory in the flesh of any man none not one but Christ Jesus our Lord.
We can not raise our selves up and say me and the Lord and all others fail and fall short this is and ugliness for the Father gives unto all His all they need He casts none that come unto Him off or away.
He gives with out begrudging any and He give not to turn around and take it back from them even the food out of their mouths.
His gifts are not revocable to be taken from them and cast down or off them by any other man creature or angel none will steal them nor their substance from them.

Because no man or any thing what so ever can rob God of His substance or His children.
We eat from our Fathers table we share with all others all we can and have and are able to.
There is no greed in God nor any of the things of God none of these things are limited and run out and we find His substance for us empty and no more.
There is no emptiness in God.
Shame not any brother clothe by trying to remove his clothing or coat.
Cast him not into prison in bondage or leave him in it when you see him there but give Him freedom liberty by giving him Christ where liberty is from and in.
Make him not sad and sickened or stricken give him if he is healing that which heals his wounds give him Christ.
Feed him not a serpent for bread mans words of vanity give him the bread of Life Christ.
Give him drink not of meat and drink of tangible but give him the living water Christ.

In all we are and in all we do it is Christ nothing but Christ.
The power unto Salvation Life is Christ unto all who receive it even that one who tells you about it they have Christ or they would not have anything either.

That's how great Christ is.
That's who urgent and needed Christ always is in all things.
He is Life The Life and The Resurrection of even us who once were dead.
The Great shepherd does not skin his sheep He does not starve His sheep He does not kill them with thirst or dehydrate them to dry bones.
He does not wither us no not at all.
He is Great God is Love The Lord God is Great joy is in Him and comes into us from Him love is in Him and comes to us from Him all things all good things come from Him into us.
He is the giver of life light of life all good things are light and life unto and into us from Him.

This is not about the symbolic act of the catholic church.. you came in.

We are talking about people mistaking Yahshua the Messiah's words to mean he wanted them to eat him literally..
Thus the reason why it's related.

This is one of the many "Eucharistic texts".

You say that one must be born again which is certainly true.

what are we born again for?

What is the Holy Spirit given to us for?
Born again means past from death to life.

The HS is given to teach, to assure, and to guarantee that which God gave us

Obviously I would say it was because He meant it literally and they were not prepared to accept that.
Obviously this is not the case. Peter showed this by saying jesus has the WORDS of eternal life. If Peter thought he meant literally he would not have said words.

Jesus' disciples couldn't comprehend His sayings because they probably thought He was asking them to eat and drink His literal body and blood. They did not understand the spiritual significance behind the sacrament (John 6:63). The Lord's Supper was conducted the night before Christ's betrayal and death because He wanted His disciples to partake in His suffering and sacrifice spiritually. We should commemorate as often as possible His blood shed on the cross for our sins and the forgiveness, a covenant relationship, and victorious lives we have with God through Christ's death. By partaking in it, we show our love for Christ and appreciation for His sacrifice. Also, we show that Christ lives in us and that we rejoice in identifying with Him even during trials of faith.
Luke 9:23- And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Philippians 3:10- That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Then define the law of the Messiah?
I don't know that I can do a very good job of it...:)
But I will throw out some thoughts, and perhaps others will add, and maybe we can build ideas together?

I hope you'll permit me a few thoughts first...
the laws of both covenants have the same purpose which is to make us subject to God.
In James, what Gal. 6:2 calls the law of Christ is called the royal law (James 2:8) and the law of liberty. (Jas. 1:25) Of course, God placed those words there for a purpose. :)

This law is written all over the new covenant writings.
It is the law of God, and it is like the law given to Moses for Israel,
which was 'skia' (shadow) of what was 'soma' (substance).
Just as the temple in Jerusalem was a shadow of the real in heaven.

I think one of the loveliest ways it's expressed is here:
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
(Matt. 5:3-11)

We fulfill the law of Christ when we walk in those ways, loving as He does.
It's a heart matter. Which is why we so badly needed them circumcised. :)
And to obey it is God's work, to which we are able to submit because He causes us to.

I promised my husband I would rest, but I'll be back to see what else folks come up with.

grace to you all!

What is the Holy Spirit given to us for?

But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God's OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9)

In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. (Eph. 1:4-6)

In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ would be to the praise of His glory. (Eph. 1:11-12)

Christ in us...the hope of glory. :)

So you view the sacrament in a spiritual, but not a literal or strictly memorial way, or am I missing something?

Not if we had open minds, and were seeking truth. Jesus tried to show them. they kept insisting he meant something else because they were looking for the sign, not the savior.

Jesus often used terms or saying which may offend people to weed out the true believers from the people who were just looking for signs. and were not open to what he came to give.

The jews rejected Jesus because they did not see him for who he was, they saw him for who they wanted him to be, and he refused to be that person. he even told them, you have seen, yet you still do not believe. He hung out with sinners, He did not judge them, He judged the righteous people. why is this?

I would say many of the same righteous, law abiding churches today would crucify Christ also. because he would tell them what he told Nicodemus, Being good and following the law is not enough, You are still guilty and still deserving of eternal death. One must be born again, By faith in him,And as Jesus told then in John 6. Do this you will;

never hunger or thirst
Never die, and have eternal life
Be raised on the last day.

Peter Got it. He did not understand it, But he got it. "You have the words of eternal life"

Yahshua the Messiah said:

Matthew 22

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Now in Romans 13 it is written:

8Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. 9For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 10Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Exodus 20

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
It is a heart matter indeed... Love thy Yahvah God and Love thy neighbour.

I was prompted by your words in your first post above.

I did not ask for a denomination..

You say that people would refuse the Messiah because he would tell them they had to be born again..

what if the person is Born Again of a New Spirit that guides in obedience to the Commandments of Yahvah God?
if A person is born again, They would understand what Jesus meant, By knowing that as Jesus said,m it is the spirit who gives life (eternal) the WORDS I SPEAK are SPIRIT, and THEY ARE LIFE. and would never have left him, because he said eat my flesh and drink my blood.

They would understand, that it is their faith that saves them, Not their works. Thus what god gave them is his, and they can neither make it any stronger, or weaker. Or do something which would cause the gift of God to be destroyed (lost)

People who think you can lose salvation by doing something, or not doing salvation believe in a tainted gift, which can be destroyed by our action or inaction. And these are the very people Jesus fought against while he was on earth, because their eyes are on self, and NOT GOD.
