you are right to have a sensitive conscience

how do you deal with pangs of guilt???
I try not to repeat the sin, and I trust in the Lord to uphold me until those pangs go away. What do you do?

I rush to the throne of grace

confess the sin

accept forgiveness

and move on

I dont feel guilty for very long because Jesus died on the cross for my guilt

He wants me to move on

how long do your pangs last?

if you dont deal with them appropriately as above

then you must deal with them inappropriately

that eventually leads to psychological problems

as does dealing with fear the wrong way

Perhaps my pangs last until I’ve demonstrated to myself that my repentance is sincere.

God is not fooled by human sincerity, He knows what we are like

we may take ourselves by surprise but we never take Him by surprise:)

Still, my experience with sin is that I have to convince MYSELF that my repentance is sincere, and that takes time. Until that has been accomplished, I suffer.

It doesn’t seem fair to me that during Christmas, I am outside freezing, shoveling snow and scraping ice off my windshield, while you’re probably out in the warm sun sipping lemonade.

Then my friend it is obvious that you do not believe what The Word of God says, you appear to lack faith. So it is futile to carry on trying to tell you that you can trust The Word of God, that His Word is TRUTH. If you cannot believe that then you will forever remain in guilt.

When a child misbehaves, the parent punishes the child. When I sin, the Lord punishes me. I am thankful that he loves me enough to do that.

and when the parent forgives the child, the child does not continue in guilt, he believes he is forgiven and moves on.

Actually, this is something the Lord and I talked over a long time ago. It isn’t that I want to be punished, but when I misbehave, apparently the Lord thinks there should be a consequence to what I have done. Therefore, there is an understanding between us that there will be a “penalty” I pay when I commit a sin.

An understanding? lol. Well that says alot about your world view.

I want to be able to look everyone square in eyes. I believe to do that, I need to repent of my sin. I need the Lord’s help to accomplish that.
Still, an understanding? The idea of covenant is that it is a binding agreement upon two parties, made by the authority of one party. Like a will. The inheritors have no say, but are bound by it.

you are correct that there needs to be punishment for your sin

that punishment is death

it was already paid 2000 years ago

I try to walk with the Lord and do his will. I’m not sure where you are going with this.

the best way to do someones will is to actually get to know them

then you know what their will is

When a child sins, the parent punishes the child for the child’s own good, even though the Lord paid the price for that sin a long time ago. Adults need to be disciplined too, don't you think?
