Metaphorically speaking this theology battle was onesided.

I think what peacefulbeliever was saying is that the dead in trespasses and sins doesnt mean dead as in not able to act, but metaphorically dead.
Well, there is someone who thinks!!! Isn't a metaphor a figure of speech meaning figurative language? So, using "dead" metaphorically would be using "dead" figuratively.

And SG LIKED your post but yet he continued to ridicule . . . He understands what you are saying but doesn't understand what I am saying?????

AMEN Magenta!!

Beautifully stated and it is the Truth

They are happy being puppets. God said, come, let us reason together. It seems some would rather think themselves to be mindless robots, and say that God ordains evil after commanding against it, as opposed to causing all things to work together for the good of those who love Him, including the evil that men do of their own will set against God's will.

It is not metaphorical. It is genuine, just spiritual.

Not everything is flesh and material. This kind of thinking is why annihilationism is so popular today.
Metaphorical means pointing to and representing something else: a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action that it does not literally denote in order to imply a resemblance. Saying we are dead in our trespasses and sins is such a metaphor, even as it relates to our spiritual condition before God previous to being born again of the Spirit of God following repentance and belief, which are necessary elements and something we must do despite the waffling denials of others who say nothing is required from us.

It, Ephesians 2:3, conveys the idea that as unregenerate ppl, we can not respond to the gospel. Why? We hate God[Romans 8:7] don't want anything to do with Him and can not grasp the gospel in our fallen state[1 Cor. 2:14], we are His enemies[Romans 5:11]. That is why the new birth, divine quickening, is an absolute must. He gives us a new heart[Ezekiel 11:19 & 36:26] and we now love Him.[1 John 4:7].
Divine quickening . . . is that phraseology yours because it ain't God's. We are quickened by the word of God - the words within scripture quicken us . . . God's word gives us a new "heart" (mind, will, heart, understanding) which quickens us and brings about godly sorrow which leads to repentance - we repent and believe in the one He sent . . . we are born again (that which is born of the Spirit is spirit) and inherit eternal life. People respond to the gospel all the time . . . they hear, they believe, they are sealed . . .
We had no say in our physical birth. We had no say in who are parents were. We had no say in where we were born. We had no say in when we were born. Jesus said we must be born again; not we must do something to be born again.
Sirs, What must I do to be saved? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved and your house.

Hereby know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God. 1 John 4:2 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwells in him and he in God. 1 John 4:15
Whosoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and everyone that loves him that begat loves him also that is begotten of him. . . . Who is he that overcomes the world, but he that believes that Jesus is the Son of God? . . . He that has the Son has life; and he that has not the Son of God has not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God. . . . And we know that the Son of God is come, and has given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 5:1,5,12,13,20

but lets be real, if we know the scriptures, the 'deceivers' always have the upper hand
in their perfection of deceiving, especially in the so called 'true churches of this fallen,
deceived, perverted, world...
