From Wikipedia: The Charismatic Movement is the international trend of historically mainstream congregations adopting beliefs and practices similar to Pentecostals. Pentecostalism began in the early twentieth century. Its doctrinal distinctive was a dramatic encounter with God termed baptism with the Holy Spirit. This experience was one of empowerment for Christian life and service, and the evidence for having received this experience was speaking in other tongues. Before 1955, Pentecostal doctrinal distinctives were not embraced by the religious mainstream. If a church member or clergyman openly expressed such views, they would (either voluntarily or involuntarily) separate from their older denomination. The charismatic movement was a reversal of this previous pattern as those influenced by Pentecostal spirituality chose to remain in their original denominations.

Oh forgive me they only got their ideas from you. How silly I could miss such a grand distinction.
While Pentecostals and charismatics share these beliefs, there are differences. Many in the charismatic movement deliberately distanced themselves from Pentecostalism for cultural and theological reasons. Foremost among theological reasons is the tendency of many Pentecostals to insist that speaking in tongues is always the initial physical sign of receiving Spirit baptism. Although specific teachings will vary from group to group, charismatics generally believe that the baptism with the Holy Spirit occurs at the new birth and prefer to call subsequent encounters with the Holy Spirit by other names, such as "being filled".[SUP][4][/SUP] In contrast to Pentecostals, charismatics tend to accept a range of supernatural experiences (such as prophecy, miracles, healing, or "physical manifestations of an altered state of consciousness") as evidence of having been baptized or filled with the Holy Spirit.[SUP][5]

They used some of our doctrine for a springboard....... They're nothing like Pentecostals doctrinally. They way over-emphasize the leading of the Spirit to allow them to do practically do anything. Let's face it, you can't cover this mistake up.[/SUP]

Well judging by the fact I avoid all those types of holy-spirit based churches I'm not too terribly concerned.

To me He is warm, sometimes tingly, and weighty, it's a weighty glory... I have also had intense heat before, tonight I felt such joy I started to laugh and it was awesome, there is also an incredible peace that He carries.

I can only go by my understanding as I believe that everyone else's experiences are different.
When we humble ourselves before Christ we are able to receive the answers we long for.
Am I able to get an answer while I'm at a bar having a few wines? AHA no.

When we close the door, pray, and speak to him with our heart fully open and willing to receive his message then we are truly blessed to be filled with His spirit, as he has acknowledged us and we have fully submitted ourselves and are obedient in receiving his word.

In John 14:26, Jesus described the Holy Spirit as the Comforter (helper). His Spirit does not make you physically feel anything, but presents a feeling of spiritual well-being (enlightenment). It is not an overwhelming spirit that has you turning cartwheels down the church isle or screaming hallelujah, but a soothing presents or "still small voice". jmo

"Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls" (Matthew 11:29)

For you, I will repeat what I have posted on my own experience. After fasting and praying one night, I slept having a dream, just for me. The following day I was walking and talking to our Maker in my mind. I kept saying, "man is evil, man is so bad, man is..." Suddenly I thought, "Hey I am a man, and I form part of that evil." With this realization I turned from man to our Maker, and He responded by filling me with His Holy Spirit. Everything turned to Light as I heard Him say, "Everything is going to be just fine." My joy could hardly be contained, as a ran to the student union. It seemed as though I was running without touching the ground. One coincidence led to another. A book was provided for me, another coincidence, which turned out to be the Oxford University Study Bible. From that moment on, I could not put down that Book which I had previously never been able to read, let alone understand. The words were, and are, alive. Since then I have been sharing the Word, at first much more than today, old now, but it was wonderful, and God sent me Jews no matter where I was......and so it goes. Praise our Maker. Praise Him, amen.

My charismatic theology........so now I'm charismatic?

So now I belong to a "harmful sect", as in heretics?

I am Pentecostal, always have been. NEVER have I been a charismatic. You just judged me falsely, & labeled me a heretic.

Since you know so much about me, CHAPTER & VERSE PLEASE to affirm your judgement. If you cannot do so, you have just labeled yourself without my help.

Let's talk about ignorance....... EVEN Wikipedia, a secular online encyclopedia knows the difference between charismatic & Pentecostal, yet you don't.

It's a sad day when the world knows more about these things than the church does.....
Interesting....tongues are good for Pentecostals but bad for charismatics. One harmful and one good? I certainly had more respect for Pentecostals when they espoused holiness doctrines.

All Christians need more fillings of the Holy Spirit to display the one fruit of the Spirit mainly Gods love which never passes away.

For the cause of Christ

I've been confused for quite some time. I'm not sure if I've been filled, or if I haven't been filled. I'm also just rather curious to hear what it's like, and hearing everyone's descriptions. Please describe it the BEST you can.
Also, if the changes in you after the encounter took some time to happen, or if it happened right after? I also always question if I have the Holy Spirit or not, because, well, I've always had a short temper. I still do. So, that really discourages me as to wether or not I have the Holy Spirit. . .

Thanks for hearing me out, and to anyone that answers, thank you.
I would call it "contentment" By growing or being built up through the Word.

The Spirit of the Lord instructed me to say this to all of you.
The majority of you have had the Holy Ghost fall upon you.
That is what you are describing as what you believe as the
indwelling of the Holy Ghost. None of you that are and will read this
have the indwelling of the Holy Ghost.

Yes this means even you, I am talking to you.

I'm not going to go into the experience thing because it differs.
Some vices though are immediately taken away and some (e.g. your temper) are a life long battle. Two after effects for me anyways, was a tremendous peace I had never felt before and a tremendous hunger for God's Word.

I found there can be several shades or levels of being come apon,

and the Spirit can come and go as it pleases,or any day or not at all.

you really have no say so i think.

I think the latter rain is falling now.

21Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.
22After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.
23And they waited for me as for the rain;
and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.

keep up the searching for the truth.

58This is that bread which came down from heaven:
not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead:
he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.

4O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee?
for your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away.

Thou gavest also thy good spirit to instruct them,
and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth,
and gavest them water for their thirst.

And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger,
and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not,
neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know
that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word
that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live.

I have felt tingles of joy, when doing good or prasing God.

I have had burning desires to study all i could for days, nothing else mattered.

but it goes away as quick as it came.

But the best feeling I have recieved is when youre spirit

can testify that you have his Spirit inside of you dwelling there,

and nobody could tell you different.

this feeling you can not miss and will know for sure when you get it.

I pray God fillis use with a good measure of his gift..

When will I meet my future wife?
Since your tuned into a frequency we arent recieving, i figured I'd check with you.

By the way does it require wearing a tin foil hat or metal fillings to get that station?

Elohim, God, does not change. Some people do, and others will not, but if they do change, the change comes from our Father.

The frequency to tune into is the holy spirit
he knows everything
how you think the Bible was written?

"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God." -Revelation 2:7.

"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death." -Revelation 2:11.

"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it." -Revelation 2:17.

"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches." -Revelation 2:29.

"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches." -Revelation 3:6.

"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches." -Revelation 3:13.

"He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches." -Revelation 3:22.

ok so what do you hear?
nothing?
repent then.
hear the spirit.

the world who never had born again experience thinks we are nuts
WE know they are ignorant
so there it goes

like two people in love
and a single teenager comes and asks
how do you know your in love?
we just are
sounds crazy to me

and thats it

he will live for himelf
fight for himself and die by himself denying the born again experiene

I know when my mind fills with Bible texts and they answer the questions that is what God does for each of us.he wants personal relationship with each person
communication with you

when you are filled with holy spirit you talk truth
you love truh
you desire truth
the word comes out of your mouth.

thats how you know

try it you will like it
get baptised
make restitution and make all things right
keep the sabbath
and the experience is yours.
