Ohh and I'll add this:

David danced naked before the Lord. His wife Michal despised him in her heart and said that he was like "one of the base fellows who shamelessly uncovers himself". However, David wasn't being immodest; he was performing an act of worship, and in that particular instance, God accepted it. So it further proves the point that whether you're a man or a woman, it's what's in your heart that really matters before God.
Why don't we discuss: "How is a Christian Man Supposed to Hug a Lady?"

I'm scared to even get started with this. Some of the men who (in church) start walking towards me, I actually make sure to stick out my hand for a handshake before their hug. Some can be very insensitive about "private space".

Sorry to disrupt this thread - but this thought just came to me after hearing so much about dresses and women's behavior.

Ha ha you will have to start a huggy and holy kiss thread and a hand shake thread -
you know the ones that almost take your whole arm off. :)

Hold up, did Jesus and the disciples wear men's dress pants? or sweat pants?? Did they even wear pants at all??!? :confused: I thought they wore robes. :rolleyes: How did it become a "manly" thing to wear long pants?

I wonder which of these women are dressed too inappropriately for Jesus Christ.

This is me right before we were going out shopping, so I am dressed up. Just had to get my sandals on. Hubby took the picture and insisted I be in it, so... there you go. I'm dressed to please hubby.

(Now all I need to know is if this "Insert Image" thing will work today.)

No. David was NOT naked.

He wore a linen ephod...clothing worn by the priests.

the book of 1 Chronicles states that David was "clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark... [and] David also wore an ephod of linen

God did not accept nakedness as He expressly forbid it actually

I think wearing jewels or making your hair look nice isn't bad in itself, as the text states. What Paul is saying is that when a woman makes her appearance more important than her character, it is wrong. If it is drawing unwanted attention of men, it's wrong as well. Another problem that many - if not nearly all - churches face, is the fact that many Christian girls and women are wearing shorts or skirts that reveal the thigh, which is called showing your nakedness according the Bible (Isaiah 47:2-3). When Christian girls or women wear skirts or shorts that show their thigh, they are literally associating themselves with the daughter of Babylon in Isaiah 47:1. Everyone knows that the daughter of Babylon is an allegorical usage of the destruction of an entity (regardless of what you believe it is: Rome, New York, Mecca) and who is called a harlot, or a harlot's daughter rather. So, Christian girls and women should ask themselves if they are like this harlot's daughter who is called naked by showing her thigh or if they look like Godly women.

Just FYI, skirts above the knees were never worn in any Christian society that I know of for the last 2,000 years until after the 1950's. The question one might ask, is this: Has the church forgotten about God's idea of modest apparel of women or are they choosing to ignore the facts:
(1) showing your thigh is called nakedness in the Bible (Isaiah 47:2-3);
(2) nowhere throughout Christian (or Jewish) history skirts were worn that were above knee-length;
(3) it is a fact that when a man sees a woman who is showing her thigh, he is sexually enticed (some might argue with me on this point, but we all know many men can't get their eyes off a woman's buttocks or legs when he's walking behind her while she's wearing a mini-skirt (above knees). If a mini-skirt would be an "OK-thing-to-do", then why aren't men making vulgar comments on women wearing skirts that are below the knee?
(4) is there any Scriptural reason to prefer a mini-skirt rather than a "long" skirt?

To all the femenist "Christians" out there who read this, I say: you don't have to believe me, believe the Bible (Isaiah 47)!

Do I look 55? That's how old I was back then. lol

Yes, a dwarf lilac. Wish I had done a dwarf forsythia too. It's that branch near my left shoulder. It would take over the entire front of my house, if I didn't prune so often.

And, yup. That's where the teddy bears get their style. I'm cold in winder, so they had to be cold. The bigger bear is wearing overalls made out of old jeans. His top pocket is a jean pocket. The smaller one was made for hubby to take as a mascot for work. Hubby was a computer tech back then, so that's a chambray shirt. Under te store-bought American flag vest, he has the complete computer tech outfit -- suspenders, khakis, even a pocket protector. He doesn't like wearing the glasses though, even with the cord that hangs them around his neck. He had white sneakers too.

But hubby became unemployed before I finished the outfit. To finish it, I took him with us on a vacation we thought was between jobs for hubby. Ends up it wasn't, (it was the beginning of hubby's disabilities, but we both thought he was just tired then), but the photos on that vacation with the two teddy bears became the beginning of how I ended up working on a novel about them.

One of the first photos taken of the two bears.

I have church jeans....no lie
So do I, but I fear if I pull them out, they're dry rotted. I haven't seen them since 1999. lol (In the same storage box as my hot yellow short shorts, my tweed vest, and my rainbow suspenders, except those clothes are from the 1980's.)

To all the femenist "Christians" out there who read this, I say: you don't have to believe me, believe the Bible (Isaiah 47)!
I find it interesting that you imply that a woman cannot be a feminist and a Christian. I'm a feminist and I concern myself with issues of education, access, and agency. I also find it interesting how you pretend that presenting an argument to you re: interpretation and understanding is arguing with the bible.

I'd also like to point out that the vast majority of fashion designers are not women, feminist or otherwise, but men.

Personally, I love it when men tirade about particular garments.

And, fyi, you're slightly wrong about the history of skirt lengths. Women in the 20s and 30s wore short skirts for various athletic activities (swimming, golfing, tennis, etc.) Women in the 40s wore shorter skirt lengths (knee-length and slightly above) due to all kinds of shortages happening in the world due to war. Women in the entertainment industry (dancers, in particular) have worn short skirts for even longer than that (consider the classic garments of a ballerina).

The mini-skirt, as an article of fashion for regular wear in Western society did not develop until around 1964. It came out of King's Road in London.

Additionally, if it's wicked for a woman to show her thigh, then I guess we better address the issue of shorts and bathing costumes as well. I mean, why pick on the mini-skirt. And what about men showing THEIR thighs???

Is it okay for a Christian man to run a marathon in very short shorts? How about a wrestling costume...his thighs are showing. (Let's not even get into sumo wrestlers). Those European men really seem to love their speedos and that shows a lot of thigh.

What if men wear clothing that doesn't actually show their thighs, but delineates them in a lewd manner? Skinny jeans, for example. Oh wait, how about the 1400s when men wore bi-colored tights and codpieces?

That's it! Let's bring back the good old days of male fashion with tights and codpieces.
