Soooo Arius believes that Christ is God, but did not exist until He came in the flesh?

"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel." (Isa.7:14)

"Matthew 1:21-23 - She will give birth to a Son and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” -- Which means, “God with us.”
"The Jews picked up stones again to stone Him. Jesus answered them, “I showed you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you stoning Me?” The Jews answered Him, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy; and because You, being a man, make Yourself out to be God.” (John 10:33)

"After eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors having been shut, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.” Then He said to Thomas, “Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.” Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!" Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.”

"
Acts 20:28 - Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood."

"Rom.9:5 - Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of Christ, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen."

"Titus 2:13 - While we wait for the blessed hope -- the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good."

"Then God said, "Let [Us] make man in [Our] image, according to [Our] likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

"And the Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them. Come, [let us] go down and there confuse their language, so that they may not understand one another’s speech.”

"Then the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven,"

"And I saw between the throne (with the four living creatures) and the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth. 7And He came and took the book out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne."

I don't pretend to understand God's existence. But what I can conclude is that, both the Father and the Son are referred to as God, for both the Father and the Son refer to each other as God. The apostles also confessed Jesus as being God. At the same time they are two individual persons, yet one God, which is what I believe the scripture "The Lord our God is One God" is referring to. The Son is not the Father and the Father is not the Son, yet they are One God. On that note, no created being could pay penalty for the sins of mankind, but God himself.

hey my friends the little jew in me told me to start this thread :)

sometimes it seems that all christians believe that jesus is god in the flesh but thats not true.
jesus is son of god not god himself.

i give you one example: when jesus was hanging at the cross he said " my god my god why have you forsaken me" so he was praying to god when he was at the cross so he cant be god.

you guys always say jesus is in heaven sitting next to the father so is jesus the father?

i dont want to hurt feelings but you have to understand that. Its important for his second coming.

when he comes and you think hes god you get too confused.
=================================================

I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and that they all passed through the sea. They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea. They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.

is it possible that im not a jew rather a follower of arius? im searching for god for 10 years now and i think im short of finding him? do you know arius bats?
arius was a good teacher, i dont agree with everything he taught but respect him for not submitting to rome like so many other church fathers did.
and just so you know you are not allowed to question the trinity on this site, they will ban you. its a doctrine they dont want tested. i made a suggestion about having a contro sub forum for subjects like this but there was no interest.
if you would like a link to a place where people are not scared to question things send me a PM.

No, Arius was not a good teacher. The man was a heretic who had no understanding of the nature of God as it is presented in scripture.

Could you explain why?
Well, it has been a long time since I have studied the theology of Arius so anyone may feel free to correct me if I have misrepresented his theology. Briefly, Arius denied any notion that scripture represented God as a triadic unity. He believed that Jesus was the 'son of God' by reason of creation as opposed to being God himself.

your opinion is noted.
i like him. he put his faith in the Holy Spirit leading him and not in roman councils telling him what to believe. he was banished and poisoned. he died for his belief.

Reducing the Son to a demiurge is not good teaching.

No he didn't because he did not believe the Holy Spirit is God. If memory serves, he believed the Holy Spirit was nothing more than an exalted angel. Perhaps you would feel more comfortable among the JW's. They embrace the Arius theology with vigor.

Just another fight starter coming here to spread falseness, the OP is.

Plenty of Biblical evidence that Jesus is God, meaning part of The Godhead of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. As a matter of fact, per Apostle John's Epistles, one who denies that God came in the flesh as Jesus Christ is an antichrist, and is not of God. This is why all 'true'... Christians believe and understand that Jesus is God like Scripture shows.

The Father is God.
Jesus is God.
The Holy Spirit is God.

We have one God.

We have the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit which is God and all 3 are God.

Therefore Jesus is God and He is also the Son of God.

Correct, Jesus Christ is not the Almighty God of the Holy Bible, but Jesus is like his Heavenly father, also, the cross used in worship to God is a form of idolatry. There is no real proof that Jesus Christ was put to death on a cross, the cross is pre-christian and was used in pagan worship. It is time for me to get out of babylon the great.

If he is the Jehovah of the OT then he is the God of the Bible.

or the little devil?

the Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of the Father. He is called 'our God and Saviour' in for example 2 Peter 1.1.

He constantly made claims that showed that He was equal with the Father (Matt.11.27; John 5.17-18, 23; 8.58).

He shared the Name YHWH with the Father in Matt 28.20. see also 2 Cor 13.14

i give you one example: when jesus was hanging at the cross he said " my god my god why have you forsaken me" so he was praying to god when he was at the cross so he cant be god.
He was citing a Psalm so it proves nothing, but as a man He could pray to God. that is the wonder of the incarnation,

you guys always say jesus is in heaven sitting next to the father so is jesus the father?
Jesus in His Manhood sat at the right hand of the Father. As God He shared His Father's throne. Both are symbolic. GOD doesn't sit on a throne. That is looking at God from a human point of view.

i dont want to hurt feelings but you have to understand that. Its important for his second coming.
LOL don't worry we have it sorted.
when he comes and you think hes god you get too confused.
why? He IS God along with the Father and the Spirit. You mean you're confused?
