Don't know what that machine has to do with this I'm asking if the gift of discernment from the holy spirit is scriptural.

I'm also asking does the gift of Diserment involve the holy spirit speaking to an individual on a personal level, and is this scriptural. Thanks for answers so far 🙂
There is definitely a gift of discernement and definitely a need for it, otherwise God would not such a gift available. I was very ill in hospital 2-1/2 years ago. My friend, now my wife, visited me. She prayed for me without knowing exactly what was wrong. But she prayed exactly what I needed. This was confirmed by an unbelieving doctor, who heard her pray. Her prayer was answered so exactly that the doctor confessed to being amazed. How did my wife know what to pray? The gift of discernment. There are many instances in the Bible where discernment was operating.

I'm glad you're apparently recovered from whatever it was; not sure I buy your story though. There are many ways she could've known what was wrong.

FAQ: I'm thinking of reading the Bible; where should I start?

REPLY: The Bible can be a tedious chore for people new to it; so I highly
recommend that folks only looking to indulge their curiosity skip the
heavy books for now and begin with the short stories of Ruth, Esther, and
Jonah; and then for sure the philosophical book of Ecclesiastes. You gotta
love Solomon's pessimistic world view: it's spot on.

* When my teen-age son first started reading the Bible, he became
discouraged. When I asked him what the matter was, he said he couldn't
figure out the hidden messages. So I told him: Son, forget about hidden
messages. Just read the Bible like a novel or an encyclopedia and you'll get
more out of it that way; and he did.

FAQ: Which version would be best for me?

REPLY: Do yourself a kindness by using a Bible that reads very close to our
own modern way of speaking. Rickety old antiques like the Douay-Rheims,
the Confraternity, the American Standard Version, and the King James
version are no longer practical because their language and grammar are
obsolete.

For English-speaking looky-loos I suggest contemporary versions in common
use like the New International (NIV), New American Bible (NAB), the New
American Standard (NAS) the English Standard Version (ESV) and/or the
New Living Translation (NLT)

FAQ: Where can I find a Bible?

REPLY: Just about any book store carries a selection of Bibles, and even
some department stores; and of course Christian book stores. Amazon dot
com has them too. If you're on a limited budget, you might try shopping for
Bibles in a thrift store like Good Will and/or Salvation Army.

* No matter whose version of the Bible you choose, somebody will
eventually come along and insist it's no good so be ready for that.

I think I have the gift of discernment of spirits. The Bible doesn't say much about the gift, but there are LOTS of verses that command believers to discern right from wrong, that which is holy from profane, true doctrine from false, true prophets from fake preachers, as well as exercise wisdom.

I can't tell you any more about what the Bible says concerning this gift other than what it simply states. There are too many people who write books and teach far beyond what the Scriptures teach on spiritual gifts.

To express my sole opinion, so take it for what it is worth, I will hit my basic experiences. Keep in mind that these are personal opinions and NOT this saith the Lord. I may be wrong and am subject to His Word first and foremost.

A. I used to wonder what it was good for until I was in trying positions where it needed to be utilized.

B. It's not an ecstatic gift like speaking a langue you never studied. You just realize that there are important situations and people involved that you get special insight that others don't seem to notice. You don't hear a voice from God or any new information. It's just that things that you think others should consider become apparent.

C. It should be exercised in humility because God provides the discern necessary.
It will not impress others or bring attention to yourself other than possible disdain until others see that through their own mistakes.
Maybe I will give examples later if time permits.

Take care
excellent discernment 😊

I'll look forward to next chapter

Heb 5v10-6v2: "called by God as High Priest "according to the order of Melchizedek," of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
yes we have the senses to disern from good and evil.

Befor your saved and after.

But not in full as scripture indicates the spirit can teach you all things.

But could you conclude that just doesn't relate to the whole word written in the bible.

Such as new technology ?

Or such as you not knowing or forgetting what's written in the bible and the holy spirit telling you befor you've read it

The gift of Diserment is spoken about by Christians in a manner that suggests its also a gift that comes and goes when you seek the holy spirit for guidance.

I also understand the gift of Diserment is also when the holy spirit speaks to you Personaly.

But on another note can the gift of Diserment also be a gift of prophecy ?
Someone bought up the issue of the Bible.
That's where we do need serious discernment too. I would rather go with the Masterpiece that I learn something new from every time I read it through than have it dumbed down to a children's book to make it " easy to read.".
Children who are believers and have a reading program understand it better than most unregenerate adults with college degrees. Why is that?

"But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."

There's the main reason that worldly churches use dumbed down paraphrases and versions from corrupt manuscripts.

Sorry about that.
I went back to check it after posting and there was a glitch in the link.

Here's my thought that someones expressed during a Zoom Bible Greek class.

What Reading Level is the KJV?

BTW, I believe that there are many saved people who use all kinds of versions.
The same is true for the unregenerate.

I'm more interested in the accuracy over the way a Bible might use contemporary language.
The natural man has a hard time understanding the Bible without the Holy Spirit. The first thing the Holy Spirit does is to reprove of sin, righteousness and judgement.

I have found differences that actually change doctrines in many. The KJV originates with the same received texts , TR, that preceded it. There were other very good English Bibles before it. The other versions are certainly different because they are from different sources. I rejected those sources for a number of Reasons that are beyond the topic here.

Should you decide to give it a go, I highly recommend not telling a Christian
what you're doing lest they muddy the waters with unsolicited spiritual
counseling that's appropriate for a proselyte but quite out in left field for
someone who's only mildly curious.

Doesn't sound fair to me, I would advice people to read the bible for a personal relationship with God.

Who's oppinion is this

It's sounds a bit hateful this oppinion and disrespectful.

Personaly I wouldn't even bring the oppinion of others into it when advising someone why they should read the bible.

Facetious is a rare word in the English language that has not only all the vowels in it, but they are also in order.
haha the return of Mr pedantic.

I'm not that perfect to spot such things. But thanks for the heads up. 😋

Prophecy is also a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart
No.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

Maybe ask yourself what that means.

yes good 😊
I agree.

But also isn't this how prophecy works too
No; prophecy is the Holy Spirit giving you a message for another person or a group of people, not speaking to you about your own situation.

I think you need some personal prophecy in the form of personal Discernment then 😋

Have you ever tried a cold shower.

It works wonders for your breathing.

The trick is you have to start to the shower so it trickles out.
Just put your head under first then ease your shoulders in

Then after a few minutes turn it on full.

But if you feeling brave get an involve booster 🙂

And stay in for 15 mins everyday

Doctors orders for you 🙂

You'll be surprised how much your breathing and relaxation will improve after just a few weeks. 🍺🍺🍺☕☕ Cheers 🙂
