I have spoken in tongues of men and tongues of Angels imo it depends on the ministry you are ordained.
It has enhanced my prayer life (praying in the spirit) but it's not something I do to show off sorta speak.
Usually is turns people off which are not a custom to the practice.

I'm guessing there aren't too many Pentecostal Christians who believe in this then. I would have never even heard about it, BUT a free book is a free book lol. Actually many in the Celtic Tradition don't practice the gift of tongues. I think I am a rare commodity in it lol.
You would have to be careful with the private interpretations of men .They can lead a person away from God's truth as the spirit of the antichrist which says we need men to teach us.

Paul emphasises both the gifts of the Spirit and the fruit of the Spirit, and says that we should "Make love your aim, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy." 1Cor 14v1
Tongues was one of the temporal manners for bringing new prophecy, as God's interpretation to all the nations, no longer in respect to an outward Jew..The refomation had come the veil was rent restoring it to a prevous order like the period of Judges .No outward representation.

There are no new revelations as prophecy, tongues one of the manners used have ceased. Today it not unless you have an interpreter be silent .But if you believe God is still bringing new revelations and therefore he is silent..

I would offer. Praying in the spirit is not the same as tongues.... a revelation from God. Praying in the Spirit of Christ that indwells every believer is our revelation as thoughts towards God as we make our requests. Tongues is from God as a revelation to us and our amen to Him . Nothing is accredited to men. There is no sign that could confirm a person is with God. We walk by His faith not in respect to men

Tongues is real without a doubt. It is still in operation today.

If God was still bringing new revelations as His interpretation, prophecy, that could be possible.

Yes, speaking in tongues is evidence of salvation.
But, that is not one of its' purposes.

The initial purpose of tongues is to give evidence of (one who is already saved)
receiving the baptism with the Holy Spirit by Jesus Himself
usually for some special ministry.

One needs to look at the original meaning of the word tongues:

The Hebrew noun lashon means "tongue", and as in many languages, "speech" or "language".

Where was tongues/languages first used? Genesis 11

Genesis 11:9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

Acts 2:4..is speaking of Pentecost where his disciples received the Holy Ghost and was able to speak multiple languages in order to preach His message to the masses.

Religion and the Churches have expanded upon this as a way to be saved. Nothing could be further from the Truth.

the world isn't flat and tongues...as per the scriptures...have not ceased

however, there are all kinds of wagging tongues...not evidence of salvation at all

I have a friend who came to the Lord through tongues. He heard the way of salvation in his own language when he was passing a church. When he heard his native language he went into the church and he came to the Lord that day. He now has a large church in Canada, I sang there several years ago,so I know it to be true. I have no doubt in my mind that tongues is for today.

Holiness Pentecostals believe that you must speak in tongues to be saved. Pentecostals are usually accused of that, but it is only Holiness Pentecostals that teach this.
You are right about this! In Canada they gather together under the name "United Pentecostals." They are also known by the name "oneness" Pentecostals, because they do not believe in the Trinity. They are sheep stealers and legalists! We had a friend who got into this cult, and it messed up his theology just terribly. His kids were almost destroyed. When they had a summer camp, they put black plastic around the swimming pool fence, so the boys could not see the girls and vice versa during their fun time. The dad would not allow his kids any books except the Bible and school texts. It is amazing his daughter was able to get through university, without a good background in reading!

The issue really has nothing to do with tongues, and everything to do with the most rigid legalism possible. Oh yes, if you have been baptized "in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit" you are not saved, either. It has to be "in the name of Jesus" like in Acts 2.

So what then with the believers before 1905? 1905 ore 1906 is known as the begin of the doctrine to be baptised with the Holy Spirit and as evidence for that speaking in tongues. According what you saying. All christians before 1905 and are not following this doctrine are not empowered for the ministrie in the churches. I know i have got the Holy Spirit, according what you are saying i am not saved. Really,I can not find this doctrine in the bible.
