I'm debating on upgrading my WordSearch Bible from 10 to 11. Only a 50 dollar upgrade but am willing to look at others if the price isn't all that high.
There is an interesting program called Bible Analyzer you might give a peek. It's add ons are reasonable.

bummer.

i mean, he did come across poorly, but it's not like he was a troll, just in need of some meekness dealing with others. like all of us, to some degree or another. hope it's only temporary, and serves to teach rather than frustrate =\

Thanks crossnote. I read the article. When I encounter things of this nature I think about the creation - evolution debate. So, we as lay people hear someone that believes in evolution speaks about a certain "fact" ..let's say it's a glaciologists talking. Now, I don't know about you, but I know very little about glaciers.

It sounds like what this glaciologists says is sound. BUT when you have another glaciologists that believes in creation look at this "fact"..then you get a different view or a rebuttal on the "assumptions" of what this "fact" is saying to us.

I would need to hear both sides before I would make a decision.

Thanks for the article . I sometimes look at the LXX to see what was said there - but never to contradict the regular bible ( whatever that is in people's minds...lol.)...sometimes it helps to illuminate what has already been said.

Good question. There appears to be varied opinions on that. Here is just one to wet your whistle (not that I agree with the article)...

Was the Septuagint the Bible of Christ and the Apostles?

Oh, you said you thought Logos was a waste unless someone was going into seminary. I didn't go to seminary and have been blessed by what I bought.

Me too. I love it. It is great when we come to a passage which is a little confusing, and I start of the computer or the smart phone, and I can look up the greek or Hebrew. or have access to many many different commentaries.

Plenty.
Critical thinking skills
Biblical interpretation and proper exegesis skills.
The original languages
Apologetics
How to preach
How to minister to peoples needs
Pastoral counseling

Many more.
me wonders what type of schooling James Peter and John had..

In the nt they did not have seminary. that is what discipleship was used for. Raise up leaders from with in.

Sadly we have to many seminary graduates who do not know the first thing about pastoring or shepherding. and think that because they have this degree, and are backed by whatever church they follow (ie they have been taught that denominations view, whether right or wrong) they are qualified to teach people..

That article had a very definite bias. It was written by a King James Onlyist. Not credible IMO.

Cool! I'd like to get the Septuagint on my program but they don't have it yet. I found a free place tho on line....you might have it but the link is below if that is something you are interested in...or maybe you have one..

Search for: caused - Strong's Interlinear Bible Search - Reference Desk - StudyLight.org

I have a question about the Septuagint that you may be able to help me. How often did they use the greek version in their synagogues back in Jesus' day and the apostles?..any idea?..thanks!

I am looking at getting that in my upgrade. Also BADG and HALOT.. I think I am also going to break down and get wuests word study series. I have it in hard cover, but would be so nice to be able to search and find something, or be able to cut and past instead of having to type in my notes if I use it.

I wasn't impressed with either. I returned them both for a refund.

seminary education definitely has benefits; i won't argue against it.
but i think that with any sort of education, there's a potential for people to soak in enough knowledge to pass exams and gain a diploma, but still not be able to put it into practice. likewise, almost anything can be learned apart from formal education, whether by experience, independent study or apprenticeship, or by direct revelation from God - which i won't set aside either (else how is it anyone ever prophesied? and how was man taught in the beginning? and does our Creator not have this power?) - but the existence and possibility of that is neither an excuse not to apply one's self to study, nor to forego seeking training from qualified masters in whatever field, either.

The Pharisees and Saducess and lawyers of the law....KNEW the scriptures...but...as Jesus us said....there is a difference between knowing scriptures and knowing Jesus!

John 5:39-40 (NASB)
[SUP]39 [/SUP] "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me;
[SUP]40 [/SUP] and you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life.

Let's take a look at a program that will allow you to work on ALL your devices and OS.
Many will work on PCs but not on your phone or tablet (e.g. The Word or Bible Analyzer)
Or some will work on PC but not FULLY on your phone/tablet (think Logos)
Then there are some that will work say on PC/IOS but not android etc.etc.etc.

But then there is Olivetree...fully functional on ALL your devices and any new devices will load your old purchases with no hassle.
Cross referencing is effortless, abundant of affordable resources available as well. And their upgrades are free.
For those who are a step below seminary (like me) it is a great way to go.

If you go to a seminary, make sure it's one that aims to encourage you in the Word, not one that tries to discredit the Bible as God's revelation at every turn. Yes, they exist and yes, it's ridiculous and disturbing.
I do agree with you on this. When I was considering which seminary to attend, there was one in my home town, and one 3 1/2 hours away. I did not feel led to go the one that was close to me. A few years later, I had changed denominations because of a pastor who was really off track. I was talking to some of my fellow students on a break, and some mentioned they came from a church that was in the same (new) denomination I was in, in the same town. When I asked why he was not going to the home seminary, he started telling me about all the professors who did not believe the Bible, and taught it was wrong! Including the theology prof. So he figured it was worth it to move and come to a conservative seminary where everyone, from the office staff, professors and students believed the Bible and did not through things out they didn't like or agree with.

I'm so grateful that God led me to a good seminary. I did kind of figure it out the first year, when I found other students to be pastors ministering in churches from Anglican to Mennonite, Reformed, Lutheran and even charismatic in my classes. That seminary had such a good reputation for teaching the word of God, that people came from all over Canada, and from many different church backgrounds to study the Word of God.

Sorry I can't contribute to the software discussion. Maybe I do need to read some of these links! But that would require updating my OS. And I need some big time help to do that. Basically backing everything up. Yes, I have a backup drive, just not sure how to use it. (Maybe when my SIL come at Christmas I will corner him and get him to do it. He just updated his Mac, and had some serious problems after, including losing a presentation he finished and needed to be given the next day for class. He is very computer savy!)
