I don't see anything wrong with marijuana as long as it's not overused. I've smoked it on several occasions and had a blast. My mindset has changed though, and I've given up most things that don't help me get closer to God (video games, anime, RPGs, etc). This was a personal decision though; I don't want to waste my time doing something worldly when I could be spending it with God.

I'm sure if you trace back the origins of smoking it'll lead to a religious ritual, good or bad. *shrug*

I was a little surprised after seeing all the "I don't see anything wrong with it", posts.

Ephesians 5:18
And do not be
drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit

Same concept?

Certainly, I'd say we mustn't allow ourselves to become the cannabis equivalent of drunk, but this does not make the use of cannabis in itself wrong.

Why wouldn't you allow yourself to say that? It's true in a lot of cases it just depends on the amount you are using.

I don't believe as Christians that we should use marijuana, except for health reasons. However, it should NOT be the government's right to make that decision for us. To begin with, how many people have ever died from smoking too much marijuana? ZERO! Ask the same question for alcohol or cigarettes. Next, take a look at the cost of these insane laws. Millions of people are instantly criminals who are otherwise law abiding citizens. At one time over 50% of all inmates in federal prisons were there because of marijuana laws. The incarceration rate for marijuana in this country is 10-15 times what it is among western nations as a whole. The cost to keep them in prisons, and the cost in services when they come out, unable to get a job or education because of the arrest, is staggering. And the loss in confidence in a government that has twisted the truth in order to demonize the drug and justify their draconian laws is also huge. Marijuana is much less an evil than either alcohol or tobacco. The difference is that it has no big business lobbying to line politicians pockets.

Statistics have shown that those countries that have decriminialized marijuana have actually experienced a drop in usage. Legalize it, regulate it, tax it, and use the money saved to educate people on the dangers of the drug.

Marijuana is way safer than alcohol or cigarettes. Marijuana cannot kill you. alcohol and cigarettes can. Sure, a person can die while using marijuana, but the odds of that happening are much slimmer than with alcohol. For example, while using marijuana a person is liable to be a safer driver (driving very slow) than an alcoholic (bobbing and weaving around the highway, driving really fast). Marijuana doesn't turn people into angry drunks who get into fights. It mellows a person out. You cannot OD on marijuana like you can on alcohol. You can't get diseases from marijuana like you can cigarettes. Granted, if you smoke it that can cause problems. Smoking anything causes problems. You could smoke paper and causes problems, because people should NOT inhale smoke into their body, but that does not mean marijuana causes diseases. That means inhaling smoke causes diseases.

Hemp would be beneficial to the economy. Hemp is not marijuana. You can't even get smokable marijuana from a hemp plant, but because the government (in America) maded marijuana illegal, cannabis is illegal, so hemp is illegal. Yay for an ignorant government!

So, if the government won't legalize marijuana, they should at least legalize hemp. With how much this country is in debt, you would think they'd be looking for easy ways to make money.

OH I LOVE the pot is much LESS of and EVIL than alcohol, etc.... I want to do the Lesser of EVIL things!!!

LOL... Just give me a little EVIL in my life... gotta have it! So is that like saying pot is more righteous than alcohol, etc?

Shouldn't the question be... what brings Glory to God in my life? Should not our focus be what brings glory to God? How does smoking pot bring glory to God? Exactly what part of smoking pot is actually good for you? at least a little red wine is known to have antioxidants, not that I promote drinking either.

I am ashamed to say I was a major pot head back in the day and I know it NEVER brought glory to God and kept me from my best in every area of my life.

Why should we condone ANY lesser EVILS? Since when do we promote or condone ANY evil? Legal or not?

I have actually been very surprised at many "mindsets" i have seen in this thread. I am not perfect and I pray in a situation I do not fall to the temptation of puffing on a joint again. One smokes enough pot to get high.. which usually takes no more than a few inhales. So any argument of controlling it to just a tiny bit is a ridiculous argument for it. One can take a few drinks of red wine and not even feel it. The purpose of smoking pot is to get high (or resolve stomach issues for chemo, etc medical) Dont think much of the issue has been medical.

Evil spirits LOVE mind altering anything, pot, alcohol or any drugs.. Lets just play with those cute little evil spirits a little bit. It's ok. NOT!

In love to the Beloved.

In Christ,

David John (NewJerusalem);)

As far as the government legalizing, etc. That is up to the government which is worldly anyhow. Focus on worldly governments? Or, The Kingdom that truly matters?

if not: why use alcohol at all? it doesn't add much taste unless you use much of it....

oh well, thats alright then- and the immune system:rolleyes:?
Well lets see, just about everything affects the immune system, lack of sleep, not eating right, alcohol, caffeine, stress, prescription drugs. Thats a short list. Kind of hard to avoid everything that affects the immune system.

I don't believe that we should do it because it doesn't bring glory to God as New Jerusalem so eloquently said in a earlier post. But you know, as perfect as that sounds, I'll bet you any amount you want, that everyone in CC does something on occasion that doesn't bring glory to God.

It messes with the immune system no matter the amounts? or were you just rejecting the claim that it isn't harmful?

it drops your IQ a point or two, and does effect your immune system, however it cannot physically kill you, you cannot overdose on marijuana

marijuana does not affect anyone else (unless you smoke yourself to smithereens) so it is NOT the same as murder

I'm really suprised by the amount of support marijuana is getting. Despite what it does physically, have any of you thought about what it does spiritually?

Not only are you going against the law if you use it (in my country anyway), it is worse than alcohol.
