I can't find the site right now, but I cna continue looking. But they have tested wines that were found from back in that time era, and it is said that ours are MUCH higher.
That's because we've been perfecting the art of fermentation over the centuries...

I think it's a good thing.

I was just saying that wine back than would be like water now adays. God tells us not to get drunk, so I think it is quite clear. I have nothing against alcohol itself. ANyways that is way off topic, we were taking about pot.

marijuana, despite accounts to the contrary is *expletive* crazy. alcohol should be banned as it *expletive* up your body and lsd should be the only legal drug. *expletive* makes me *expletive* mad as *expletive*. Also you can ride bikes on lsd.

Alright, I realize that this topic is very controversial. I would like to know everyone's opinions on if marijuana is good verses bad. Now I am not promoting marijuana in anyway, I am just wondering about opinions. Now I am already prepared that people will pop out verses talking about how we are not supposed to to harm the templ of God, so I would like to make a comment in the future on that. Marijuana has actually been proven that in small amounts not taken often is not bad for your health, and is infact no worse than small amount of alcohol EX. a glass of wine. I understand that smoking marijuana can turn into a habit, and in this way is bad for you. So I also understand this side of the fight, but keep in mind that there are lots of things that are legal that are bad for you when they turn into a habit. So, I would like to know what everyone on CC think of Marijuana. Remember to keep this civilised, and I am sure that I will see lots of people against it. God Bless you guys.
No, I don't think it should be legalized. If it were, I wouldn't use it either even if I were in excruciating pain or suffering. I rarely drink alcohol - only the occasional bit during a social meet (dinner party, etc.). Boy, I'm sounding old... dinner parties... lol

I think whether it is alcohol or marijuana or other drugs, your inhibitions are lowered and judgment is also muddled to an extent. That opens us up for attack by Satan or his minions. For alcohol, if I even feel a bit of a buzz, I stop but I usually don't get to that point. I don't even like the taste of alcohol.

We are supposed to imitate Christs morals, service, and love for each other. That doesn't mean that we walk everywhere we go, wear sandals, never cut our hair, and lay on our sides when we eat. Those things are unimportant. It's the spirituality that we are striving for. But who's to say that smoking one marijuana joint twice a month while relaxing in the living room is any worse than watching a football game on sunday when we could be in church, or out evangelizing? Or having 6 pairs of new shoes in the closet, when our neighbor has none? Or offering only words of encouragement and advice to a family member who really needs our financial help? Or having our heart filled with hatred for someone who has wronged us? Or being filled with anger when someone cuts us off on the freeway? Christ said, "He who is without sin, be the first to throw a stone".

As I have stated before, I do not believe that a spiritually mature Christian should smoke. However, that is a decision that each individual has to make for themselves. But the drug war in this country is hideous. The cure is much worse than the disease.

I think he is referring to distillation Greatkraw, which wasn't discovered until around 1500. The distillation process does enhance the alcohol content. However, the fermentation process produces enough alcohol to get drunk. In fact, the lower acohol levels for them would have been the same as our higher levels are for us. Let me explain.

Our bodies produce an enzyme called alcohol dehydrogenase, (AD), which detoxifies the alcohol we consume. It is the amounts of AD in our body, along with how much we have had to eat, that determines our vulnerability to getting drunk. Our size has nothing to do with it, that is a myth. Food in our stomach to dilute the alcohol is important because alcohol is one of just a few things that are absorbed directly from the stomach into our blood, most foods waiting till the intestines for absorbtion. The point is that the body responds to alcohol by producing AD. In the beginning, there is little to none, that why we get so drunk the first time we drink. Through time, our bodies slowly increases it's ability to produce AD. That is why people who have been drinking for years can drink more without getting drunk. The reduced amounts of AD in those people of Jesus' time (because it's production would not be stimulated as greatly), would mean that they would be just as able to get drunk on the lesser amounts of alcohol content, as we are. It is all relative!

I am going totally off topic with this, but Jesus did cut his hair.

Here is another Bible verse to ponder. Jesus is speaking:

Luke 7: 33 For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, 'He has a demon.' 34 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners." '

There is no way any honest person can interpret this passage without seeing that Jesus admits to drinking fermented wine. If He did it, there is no way that it is a sin!!
