I fish all the time... And I use " plugs " not shrimp but rather plastic " deceptive bait.. It's a form of hunting game. I trick fish to biting on a hooked line, this is my intention .." To catch fish and eat them " it's fun also and peaceful in the wild... I do not take this talent and apply it to " tricking " my fellow man .. Big difference..

Even with football or basketball... What does that have to do with Christ and if one wanted to shoot a game of basketball ball then preach the word, sounds good to me.. It's when we incorporate " magic ", as innocent as it may seem, on deeper levels it's evil ..this is what the devil uses to " trick " people. Biggest lie ever perpetrated is " the adversary isn't real ". He never wants anyone to know about anything about him, he'd rather you just kill yourself daily in sin, without us ever knowing he's involved ..

Others have already stated in this thread how magic can seem real innocent at first.. then later once committed to " the craft " he'll reveal sides of himself as present .. " wickedness " .. There's nothing wicked about football, basketball, baseball, soccer, and so fourth.. There is wicked elements to magic period...

Are you making excuses so that you can watch a ball game?

Just about every sport involves lying and deceit to get one over the opposition. Balls being pitched, bowled or tossed are usually done so with deception and even lie, delibertly moving hands in certain motion as if to say "I am throwing it this way" when infact it is a lie and it will be thrown a different way.

When moving along with a ball or puck in hockey, a player will lie and deceive his opposition to get past them, when tackled a player will egxagerate an injury or go over in an instant to decieve the referee into giving a free kick and even to get the opposition player sent off.

With American footballer, the Quaterback will regulary lie and decieve the opposition in the hope they will fall for that lie and deception resulting in a big gain in the play. Surely a fake punt is a lie and a deception as well.

Thing is all these things are no different to someone performing illusions. There is nothing supernatural involved with illusions, which is what I asked earlier.

Some people think that these extreme illusions on TV can only be done by demonic powers, which is utterly ridiculous, especailly when you learn that many illusions involve editing and clever camera work.

How is making a coin "disappear" then reappear behind someone's ear any different to the lies and deception in sport?

One is magic and the other is a game.. The game has rules and boundaries, basketball doesn't change either, throwing a ball through a hoop is the same thing it started from and is... Magic has different facets and evolving deceit, one promotes good health, team work, and calculated plays, the other
" magic " promotes trickery, deceit, and farces alone and evolves to more sinister effects.. They are different ...that's why one is named " basketball " and the other is named " magic " .. I'm not going to argue about this, it's simple " magic " is based on deception and deception alone... It's no good

Looks like someone is going to have a serious problem here... For Yah will not be mocked, so now not only is this a "magician" but also attempting to mock the Son of the Living Elohim!
He's digging his own grave trying to glorify himself and mocking Yah... Up to him.. Everybody has choices, I pray for him..

unbelievable. Well I do not accept the ridiculous claims you make. Illusions are a skill and nothing sinister behind them. Prove to me otherwise. How is a card trick wrong? it is not "magik" or dark arts, its simply mis-direction and clever concealment which takes a lot of skill and practice to get right. Everyone who watches an illusion or trick knows it is a trick and illlusions, most people know it is just something clever, apart from the ones who think its demonic and evil and those powers are at work.

I'm not trying to gather folks to deception to talk about Christ... not the way to go.. Especially MAGIC, I don't mind going any where, God is with me.. The difference is I'm not going to use sin " lies " or murder to bring someone to Christ.

Its not " just " Jason and myself by the way.. There's over five in agreement on this and would think more as well.
so there are 5 other legalists on here. big deal. so, what you and Jason are really saying that if someone is not preaching the way YOU approve of it is wrong. maybe you should consider that Paul said he did not care how Christ was preached as long as he was. selective memory, huh??

See Post #77.

Side Note:

Also, there is no excuse for deceit or any kind of sin. That has nothing to do with salvation by works (i.e. Legalism) (of which I am against).

My thought is that the OP should just call himself an illusionist, and be done with all these people looking for evil and demons under every rock and every activity.

Illusions are not magic!! And the OP sincerely wanted opinions about whether to continue to go to this magic shop, not whether he wanted to quit being an illusionist. So the topic should be about his question, not the legalistic replies of so many on this thread!

Again, it's not legalistic to say that a particular sin is wrong. Murder is wrong. Rape is wrong. Deception is wrong. Calling these sins as evil is not wrong or in being legalistic. Magic or Illusionists do their magics or illusion so as to glorify themselves with their magic. People are impressed more by the trick that they can do rather than what the message is saying. To children, this person who does tricks could appear as if they have some kind of power. They are impressed by the magician and his power of illusion. It is a glory of the magician or the illusionist and not the glory of God.

Jesus did miracles, but they were no trick or illusion. But man wants to be like God and be like Christ and gain all the attention in being miraculous, too. That is what the illusion is all about. A glorification of self and not God.

I mean if the church truly needs gospel preaching magicians into their church to preach the gospel to wow us and to dazzle us with their tricks so as to make the gospel more exciting, then something seriously is wrong with the church today.

Folks here have really got to snap out of their love of the world with all it's glitter and glamour. Sometime in the future: Satan is going to give power to another beast so as to bring fire down from heaven and he is going to deceive people by that miracle. It is a trick. A deception. A glorification of himself (the devil) and not God (See Revelation 13).

For a magic trick is all about the glory of the magician which involves an element of deception.

why is it always the same handful of people crying and whining about anything remotely resembling a good time? Go hide in a closet if everything is so evil to you.

Instead of attacking the people, try proving your case with Scripture and or with real world examples.

Some very strong verses associated with her very strong testimony ! Nice post...

"That if any man shall say unto you, lo, here is Christ, and there, believe it not. For there shall arise false Christ's, and false prophets and shall show great signs and wonders, insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." (Matthew 24:23-24)

Praise God for this!

Quoting Ms. Ursula :

Suddenly everyone turned their eyes to the right and in walked Jim Jones. This powerful man - his majesty was entering the building. That was Satan in disguise. Everyone was standing up and worshipping, and pride entered into him. It was then that Jim Jones slipped up and let us see who he really was.

After I had said these things to Jim Jones, I just wanted to get out of that place. I wanted to just turn into a little mouse and disappear. I felt an evil power come upon me. I couldn't put my finger on what it was. It was Satan's evil power upon me and I couldn't wait to leave and get back home.

She couldn't describe it, she's spot on !! She got out of there and found Christ Yahshua ! Amen !
