We have the same spirit yes but it's still not the same. Jesus is God's son!

Ok ask tor self these questions.

1. Do I still have impure thoughts
2. Do I say things that might be bad
3. Do I do anything in my actions that may be bad

If you can honestly say no to these then you must be a saint! Lol

I know you might be able to be less sinful than some but surely not 100% sinless. Come on??
Lol is my only way out of this is to say yes? Lol

I will leave it at this. We are first born into the first Adam.... Then we are reborn again into Jesus the second Adam.. So if we are born in sin then reborn what are we born into the second time?

I never changed a quote from scripture, KJV1611, but am trying to give the proper meaning from the context that comes BEFORE and AFTER the verse so often misinterpreted. The context is "the hypothetical person who believes they don't have to confess any sins in the process of being purified"...that's the context of John's verse in discussion.

Here, let's try this angle...

Question: When you confess your sins to God and he purifies it (per 1 John 1), do you still have that sin upon you? Or is it gone forever?
No I do not have that sin upon me and it's gone forever.

Yet He resisted sin as a normal human being, i.e. in the flesh like you and me, by the Word of God and by His full obedience. And if our attitude is like His then we have hope.
You brought up very good questions which we are to ask ourselves constantly.

Live your life according to God's word and you will be written in the lambs book. The most beautiful thing anyone could ever imagine. You will be saved from going to hell.
That's what you will be born again into, your new life. He prepares the way, and when you reach heaven you WILL be perfect. He will make things new.

Exciting :)

Of course, we should definitely encourage one another but still you have to be humble enough to admit you are a sinner and repent when you have. God doesn't like disobedience, he is our father we need to be sorry when we do something. He will reward you when you do.
To say we can do all things in Christ does not imply one is not humble nor deny that we were/are sinner. The question to ask is, what does 2 Corinthians 5:17 mean "if anyone is in Christ he's a new creation, the old is gone, the new is here"?

Jesus did that because he was God and he was given the spirit without measure.... we are not.

The Messiah said "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect." Peter quoted "OT" "be holy, because I am holy". Neither said you will be, rather they said "be".

Does He not give the Spirit to those who believe without measure? Did He not promise the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit will come to dwell in those who love Him and obey His teachings? If God dwells in us, are we not able to resist sin which He has already freed us from cf Ephesians 2:1-10, unless He does not dwell in us?
I 'd leave it at that.

I completely agree. And that's the context of John's verse. One who says "I have no sin" consequently doesn't confess their sins and so still have those sins upon them...but one who confesses their sin already presupposes an acknowledgement of the sin they DO have upon them.

THEN....once God has forgiven those sins and purified them...they're the ones who *actually* don't have their sins upon them anymore (unless they sin again of course, but this parenthesis is beyond the point 1 John 1:8 is making, and doesn't counter the point Simiel was making in his posts).

That's what I was explaining.

This is a joke, I can't believe people actually believe they will become sinless on this side of eternity. Can you walk on water? Can you live the rest of your life without coveting or lying or lusting? Jesus was different than we are.

I see what you're saying but that's not what 1Jn 1:8 is saying. Verse 7 is telling us that Christ cleanses us from sin. Verse 8 is telling us that we all have sin and if we say we don't have sin then we are lying. Verses 7 & 8 establishes that we have (present tense) sin, verse 9 tells us what to do with that sin.

Simple.

If it isnt of faith (Bible) don't do it
If it is of faith (something in the Bible) do it!
If you dont know if it is of faith or in the Bible dont do it

pray and study to learn the whole Bible
and soon you will never fall into sin again
thn JEsus comes.
Is 'never sinning again' been your experience? If not, how can you tell us this? NEVER AGAIN???

O.K. I'm going to give a confession here. But first I just want to say that God loves all of us just the way we are right now. but He loves us so much He helps us get to our potential that He knows we can be so He loves us too much to let us stay where we are right now which for a lot us is kind of a sinning state.

With that said part of my story is that I was a rotating door Christian meaning I was in and out of church. I'd determine that I was going to change and do right and not sin and be good and with all the good intentions in the world I would head back to church. I promise I will be good this time God. You got it I would fail and then I would feel like a hypocrite and I did not want to take any of the good church people down with me so then I would leave church, because after all I'm going to hell anyway right?

I would hear my other denominational friends say I'm saved and I'd think well that's good for you cause I'm lost and truth be told I always felt lost. I knew I needed God and I'd determine I'd be good this time and you guessed it I failed again and I was in and out of church several times

All of a sudden I'm 56 years old and I felt guilty for not paying tithe so I talked to God about it and decided that I was going to pay it and that payday came and I wrote out the check and I said well I could mail the check, but a little voice said to me or you could take it to church yourself. So I went to church for the first time in years and the sermon that day was exactly what I needed to hear and I have been back in church ever since.

But this is what keeps in church - I was talking to God and I said to Him - I'm not good enough and I'm never going to be good enough, I can't make promises to you because I can't keep them. God answered me in my thoughts and said you know you are right you aren't good enough and you will never be good enough, but Darlene that is why I sent My Son Jesus to die for you so that when you ask for His help to be your Savior inviting Him into your life and you ask for forgiveness of your sins I no longer look at your sinful life but I look at the perfect life of My Son Jesus - His blood covers your life and all the sins you have committed. I said it is that simple? His answer was Yes it is just that simple. I got to tell you I started crying like a baby to realize that I was SAVED not because of anything I had done but because of what Jesus did for me.

So you say what does this have to do with not sinning?

Well the same principal applies. What I described above is called justification - sanctification is the work of a life time. When we ask the Holy Spirit to come and dwell in us we who are unable to not sin become able because it is Christ abiding and living in us and where Jesus is there can be no sin. So it is Jesus who does for us what we can not do for ourselves. We won't be perfect until this mortal body puts on immortality and that is why I say sanctification is the work of a life time.

The end of a portion of my story and hopefully you are not bored to tears.... Blessings to all.

You have six sentences in your post on perfection.
Four of those sentences don't end in a period.

Just sayin bro.

Faith. We are talking about faith. With the faith of a mustard seed He said nothing would be impossible for the disciples. If the disciples could drive out demons would it be a problem to drive out our own evil thoughts and deeds?
We have probably been deceived for too long.

So are you admitting that you can't walk on water and you can't live the rest of your life without sinning?:)

It's called the scripture says we can so let's try...because in our struggle against sin, we have not yet resisted to the point of shedding our blood and not to forget He disciplines. So let's try...of course with the strength He gives us.

Let's try is all I can say. It was considered a dream for man to land on the moon but....of course some consider it a hoax but then it's another story.

1. Jesus Christ cleansed me of my sin. 1John 1:7

"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."

2. He won't allow me to be tempted above what I can handle and will even make an escape. 1 corinthians 10:13

"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."

3. He delivers me from the powers of darkness. Colossians 1:13
"Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:"

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2

Yeah, let's try not to sin and end up putting our eyes on ourselves rather than Jesus. Is this what you mean?
David was a man after God's heart...not sinless...but after God's heart...I'll go that route.
