Yeah, let's try not to sin and end up putting our eyes on ourselves rather than Jesus. Is this what you mean?
David was a man after God's heart...not sinless...but after God's heart...I'll go that route.
Why the reluctance and put words in my mouth when every single post I've made here indicated otherwise?
The writer of Hebrews said "Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy. without holiness no one will see the Lord See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many."
Did he in anyway lead our eyes on ourselves rather than Jesus?
Would obeying the teachings in Hebrews lead us away from the Messiah?

To be fair to people who believe that we stop sinning after we are saved... we actually do stop sinning.

Romans: 7. 20. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. 23. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. - Bible Offline

I didn't do anything I needed to repent of today or yesterday. I don't have to lie, I don't have to cheat, I don't have to lust, I don't have to drink, I don't have to smoke, I don't have to be greedy, I don't have to swear. I don't have to sin. There is power in Jesus Christ He is not only my Savior, He is my Deliverer. How does it go? He defeated the last enemy? what am I in bonds too? surely not to sin. To each their own, surely everyone will make up their own minds. As for me and mine, we follow Christ.
I don't either brother but I am as GOD made ME. If anyone has a problem with that, including the Lord, they can take that up with my maker.

If it isnt of faith (Bible) don't do it
If it is of faith (something in the Bible) do it!
If you dont know if it is of faith or in the Bible dont do it

pray and study to learn the whole Bible
and soon you will never fall into sin again
thn JEsus comes.

The first thing of faith is justification/ salvation.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, & you shall be saved.
(not to trust Him as chance-giver, but as Savior.)

Thou shalt call His name Jesus,
for He shall save His people from their sins.

Once one is a Christian, one is like Peter walking on the water,
in need constantly to trust in the Savior.
But James tells us that in many ways we all stumble.
We will be sinning & needing to confess it.
The Lord's prayer will remain a model prayer:
"Forgive us our debts" where we plug into the model with specifics.

As to never falling into sin again, that is a falsehood, and thinking that could lead to serious self-righteousness.

There is one way to stop sinning altogether for the Christian:
That is to die. He who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin.

Until then, do not excuse your sin on some theory that you cannot sin.

Of faith = of trusting Christ.
The expression is used on issues that are doubtful in Romans 14,
not on things which have a clear revelation which we have understood.

Do Not Brag on Not-Sinning, like a Hypocrite

In many things we all stumble.

And if you brag on not sinning,
you had best consider confessing that as a sin.

Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth;
A stranger, and not thine own lips. -- Proverbs

When I go to do good I find then A LAW THAT SIN IS WITH ME....as long as our born again spirit is housed in a fallen sinful weak fleshly body that is bound in sin we will have sin present with us....

Now everybody pay attention.....

THIS WILL BE until WE GET A GLORIFIED BODY THAT IS WITHOUT SIN!

I acknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not cover my iniquity;
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,”
and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.

(Psalm 32:5)

How to live victoriously over sin. Paul said That what I will to do I do not, and that which I will not to do that I do. He was struggling with sin. The reason why was that he was trying to live for God by the law and not by the means of Christ. In other words his faith was in the law as that was what he was taught.

Then, It was revealed to him the law of the Spirit, Meaning that the Holy Spirit will only act in the parameters of the cross. When Paul say's in Christ, it means the cross.

So if we place our faith whether knowingly or unknowingly in some thing else, such as what we do. The Holy Spirit will not and cannot help us. So we fail and sin.

This where eternal security fails and is in error. Because when we sin and it is not repented, we become bound by it. The sin nature or power of sin dominates us and we look for many ways to get rid of it. But, if prolonged, God will not accept sin. Sin cannot enter His presence. Many are not taught this. They are told to pray more or read more or fast.

The only answer is to replace your faith in the work of the cross and nothing else.

i think there is an important difference between having sin, committing sin, and continuing in sin.

Jag, we are not as God made us.
First of all, as God made man, man had no sin nature; man was in a perfect garden.
We are not in that state today. If we are not saved, then we are described in Rom 1-3, a really miserable state following Adam's sin -- and we are made in Adam's image, not directly created but derived from Adam.

Second, if we are saved, then we retain this thing called the flesh or the Old Man who is ever lusting for sin. That is not the original state of man.

So we may not blame our sinful state on God. He did not create us as we now are. If we trusted Christ as Savior we have been recreated with a new nature -- the the Old Man yet hangs around.

On the other hand, Paul's old rival James said "each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin...." :)

On the other hand, David wrote...Though you probe my hart and examine me at night, though you test me, you will find nothing. I have resolved that my mouth will not sin. As for the deeds of men - by the word of your lips I have kept myself from the ways of the violent. My steps have held to your paths, my feet have not slipped.
Pretty arrogant eh?
The reason he slipped?
Not sure.

Between Psalm 32:5 and Psalm 51, had David ever stopped sinning?
Was he considered righteous after his confession(s). Was he "under the law" yet he wrote the most psalms on God's grace?

I would like to make notice we are made righteous by faith not our lack of sin. I stumble every day I sin even when I think I didnt but i know this- Sin has no power over me and though i will fall many times i can take Gods forgiving hand and keep going.

If anyone wishes to be pure and perfect by claiming to be without sin then I hope you find what you seek. But I will put my trust in the Lord, if I am ever counted righteous and pure in his sight it wont be because I never sin or was perfect but because my faith and trust was in him and him alone.

Saddly we will always sin so long as we are in our fleshly bodies and to say we can live without sinning at all isnt Scriptural.
Actually, in my previous post, I've listed several scriptures that teach one how to overcome sin in this life. While we may never escape the temptation to sin in this life, any sin that you may commit is choice that you've made.

James is not Paul's rival, they agree 100% on everything. :)
Where does the evil desire come from??? The sinful nature that still dwells within this corruptible body. We won't escape that sinful nature until we get an incorruptible body.

That was a prophecy of Jesus... it wasn't David.
