So we should ignore what Christ said?
Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizingthem in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

The reason the church is divided is because false teachers (wolves in sheeps clothing) have entered the church that teach contrary to God's inspired word leading those who don't know the Scriptures astray !

2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Indeed it does appear we are living in those times!

I have read them many times. As my responce to you earlier demonstrated nothing in Scripture says that we are not to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. In fact we do have Scripture where Christ Himself instructed to baptise in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

You can jump through all the hoops you want, twist the Scriptures anyway you want the truth still stands. The inspired word of God is not in error but insted it is the false doctrine you, wordsponge, onejack and nick1939 espouse that stands in contradiction to God's inspired word!

Oh did you notice?
When you teach the truth there is always some who will cut off your head.
Did you also notice that when you preach a false gospel that there are always some who will cut off your head?

One of the problems with most Christians today that lead us to accepting any teaching is that they have become 'busy Christians' who want others to know the word and just yell them what it says. Busy Christians are prone to receiving false doctrines because they do not have time to read the word, meditate upon it and pray over it for understanding.
We must be careful because many will call a doctrine "false doctrine' because it does not go according to their desires, in stead they make their false doctrines thinking it is a true doctrine.

I think that is a good question. I believe God is one, too. I also believe there is only one truth about every issue under the sun. Only one way, only one God, only one Church, only one Truth.

Mat 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
2Pe_1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2Ti_3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration ofGod, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, fo rinstruction in righteousness:

We, the believers hold the key. Over the years we, thebelievers, have allowed heresy to enter the church. These heresies have fractured the church and caused division. If and this is a big if we could learn to reconcile all of Scripture instead of leaning on private interpretations that make the word of God of none effect we would not have the divisions. Unfortunately so long as we have people like you who do not believe we should harmonize our beliefs with Scripture we will always have divisions amongst believers. Isn’t it time you became part of the solution by studying to shew yourself approved rightly dividing the word of truth rather then relying on your private interpretation that makes the word of God of none effect?

2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

Indeed we live in perilous times when people elevate the words supposedly seen by some 13/14 year old kid on a telescreen over God’sinspired word!

Please quote the book chapter and verse that says when we are baptised we are to call on Jesus while under water.

Are you a follower of the false prophet William Marion Branham? He also held that people should be baptised in Christ’s name only instead of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Is that where your Scripturally bankrupt views come from?

For those who are unaware this cult has secrets they don’t want to share on CC see this response with quotes from wordsponge @ http://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/78817-recovering-matt-28-19-baptism-formula-pro-christ-gentile-save-thyself-7.html#post1300649 or maybe you would prefer this quote fromdaughterof light @ http://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/78817-recovering-matt-28-19-baptism-formula-pro-christ-gentile-save-thyself-7.html#post1300637
On the day of Pentecost why did Peter teach repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins? Jesus himself gave the command to go preach in the name of the Son, the Father, and the Holy Ghost! Why? Matt. 28:19. Who has all authority in the Church and who will have all the authority when Christ comes the second time?

Rev.3

if any man (individual) hears my voice, and open the door,
I will come in to him (ONLY), and will sup with him, and he with me.

even as I (the Mighty God) also overcame,
and am set down with my Father (GOD) in his throne.

Why are there so many religions?
A recent tabulation concluded that there are 10 main religions and some 10,000 sects. Of these, some 6,000 exist in Africa, 1,200 in the United States, and hundreds in other lands.
Many factors have contributed to the development of new religious groups. Some have said that the various religions all represent different ways of presenting religious truth. But a comparison of their teachings and practices with the Bible indicates, rather, that the diversity of religions is because people have become followers of men instead of listening to God. It is noteworthy that, to a large extent, teachings they hold in common, but that differ from the Bible, originated in ancient Babylon.
Who is the instigator of such religious confusion? The Bible identifies Satan the Devil as “the god of this system of things.” (2 Cor. 4:4) It warns us that “the things which the nations sacrifice they sacrifice to demons, and not to God.” (1 Cor. 10:20) How vitally important, then, to make sure that we really are worshiping the true God, the Creator of heaven and earth, and that our worship is pleasing to him!

Everything we need to know in order to come to know the one true one God can be found in the Scriptures! Not in the writings of heretics that have been duped into following the profane babbling of some kid who supposedly recieved a message from God on a telescreen in the Philipines. Those who teach contrary to Scripture teach fallacy!

Thedarkness has to go for the ILLUMINATION to shine forth.

Deut.18
[20] But the prophet, who shall presume to speak a word in myname, >>(Like triune Baptism)

that I have not commanded him to speak
, or that shall speak in the name of other gods,
even that prophet shall die.
Go boldly BOTH are with us
Mat_28:19 Go ye therefore, and teachall nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, andof the Holy Ghost:

Why is wordsponge allowed to teach that those who flollow Christ's instructions on baptism are false prophets onChristianchat?
Nothing anti-Christian, or inappropriate for a Christian chat room or forum.
Isn’t teaching that those who follow Christ's instruction on baptism anti-Christian?

ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC, APOSTOLIC

ONE, HOLY, APOSTOLIC CHURCH

IT Makes one Wonder,Out of around 300 Christian Doctrines , Which one IS the DOCTRINE of Christ? I in them, and thou in me, that they may be perfect in ONE.That is the ONE I am referring to, who can help? God bless...

The first Christians had no doubts about how to determine which was the true Church and which doctrines the true teachings of Christ. The test was simple: Just trace the apostolic succession of the claimants.
Apostolic succession is the line of bishops stretching back to the apostles. All over the world, all Catholic bishops are part of a lineage that goes back to the time of the apostles, something that is impossible in Protestant denominations (most of which do not even claim to have bishops).

The role of apostolic succession in preserving true doctrine is illustrated in the Bible. To make sure that the apostles’ teachings would be passed down after the deaths of the apostles, Paul told Timothy, "[W]hat you have heard from me before many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also" (2 Tim. 2:2). In this passage he refers to the first three generations of apostolic succession—his own generation, Timothy’s generation, and the generation Timothy will teach.

The Church Fathers, who were links in that chain of succession, regularly appealed to apostolic succession as a test for whether Catholics or heretics had correct doctrine. This was necessary because heretics simply put their own interpretations, even bizarre ones, on Scripture. Clearly, something other than Scripture had to be used as an ultimate test of doctrine in these cases.
Thus the early Church historian J. N. D. Kelly, a Protestant, writes, "[W]here in practice was [the] apostolic testimony or tradition to be found? . . . The most obvious answer was that the apostles had committed it orally to the Church, where it had been handed down from generation to generation. . . . Unlike the alleged secret tradition of the Gnostics, it was entirely public and open, having been entrusted by the apostles to their successors, and by these in turn to those who followed them, and was visible in the Church for all who cared to look for it" (Early Christian Doctrines, 37).
For the early Fathers, "the identity of the oral tradition with the original revelation is guaranteed by the unbroken succession of bishops in the great sees going back lineally to the apostles. . . . [A]n additional safeguard is supplied by the Holy Spirit, for the message committed was to the Church, and the Church is the home of the Spirit. Indeed, the Church’s bishops are . . . Spirit-endowed men who have been vouchsafed ‘an infallible charism of truth’".
Thus on the basis of experience the Fathers could be "profoundly convinced of the futility of arguing with heretics merely on the basis of Scripture. The skill and success with which they twisted its plain meaning made it impossible to reach any decisive conclusion in that field" (ibid., 41).

Pope Clement I
"Through countryside and city the apostles preached, and they appointed their earliest converts, testing them by the Spirit, to be the bishops and deacons of future believers. Nor was this a novelty, for bishops and deacons had been written about a long time earlier. . . . Our apostles knew through our Lord Jesus Christ that there would be strife for the office of bishop. For this reason, therefore, having received perfect foreknowledge, they appointed those who have already been mentioned and afterwards added the further provision that, if they should die, other approved men should succeed to their ministry"
(Letter to the Corinthians 42:4–5, 44:1–3 [A.D. 80]).

Hegesippus
"When I had come to Rome, I [visited] Anicetus, whose deacon was Eleutherus. And after Anicetus [died], Soter succeeded, and after him Eleutherus. In each succession and in each city there is a continuance of that which is proclaimed by the law, the prophets, and the Lord" (Memoirs, cited in Eusebius, Ecclesiastical History 4:22 [A.D. 180]).

Irenaeus
"It is possible, then, for everyone in every church, who may wish to know the truth, to contemplate the tradition of the apostles which has been made known to us throughout the whole world. And we are in a position to enumerate those who were instituted bishops by the apostles and their successors down to our own times, men who neither knew nor taught anything like what these heretics rave about" (Against Heresies 3:3:1 [A.D. 189]).
...by pointing out here the successions of the bishops of the greatest and most ancient church known to all, founded and organized at Rome by the two most glorious apostles, Peter and Paul—that church which has the tradition and the faith with which comes down to us after having been announced to men by the apostles. For with this Church, because of its superior origin, all churches must agree, that is, all the faithful in the whole world. And it is in her that the faithful everywhere have maintained the apostolic tradition" (ibid., 3:3:2).
"Polycarp also was not only instructed by apostles, and conversed with many who had seen Christ, but was also, by apostles in Asia, appointed bishop of the church in Smyrna, whom I also saw in my early youth, for he tarried [on earth] a very long time, and, when a very old man, gloriously and most nobly suffering martyrdom, departed this life, having always taught the things which he had learned from the apostles, and which the Church has handed down, and which alone are true. To these things all the Asiatic churches testify, as do also those men who have succeeded Polycarp down to the present time" (ibid., 3:3:4).
"Since therefore we have such proofs, it is not necessary to seek the truth among others which it is easy to obtain from the Church; since the apostles, like a rich man [depositing his money] in a bank, lodged in her hands most copiously all things pertaining to the truth, so that every man, whosoever will, can draw from her the water of life. . . . For how stands the case? Suppose there arise a dispute relative to some important question among us, should we not have recourse to the most ancient churches with which the apostles held constant conversation, and learn from them what is certain and clear in regard to the present question?" (ibid., 3:4:1).
"t is incumbent to obey the presbyters who are in the Church—those who, as I have shown, possess the succession from the apostles; those who, together with the succession of the episcopate, have received the infallible charism of truth, according to the good pleasure of the Father. But [it is also incumbent] to hold in suspicion others who depart from the primitive succession, and assemble themselves together in any place whatsoever, either as heretics of perverse minds, or as schismatics puffed up and self-pleasing, or again as hypocrites, acting thus for the sake of lucre and vainglory. For all these have fallen from the truth" (ibid., 4:26:2).
"The true knowledge is the doctrine of the apostles, and the ancient organization of the Church throughout the whole world, and the manifestation of the body of Christ according to the succession of bishops, by which succession the bishops have handed down the Church which is found everywhere" (ibid., 4:33:8).
[A.D. 189]

Cyprian of Carthage
"The Church is one, and as she is one, cannot be both within and without. For if she is with [the heretic] Novatian, she was not with [Pope] Cornelius. But if she was with Cornelius, who succeeded the bishop [of Rome], Fabian, by lawful ordination, and whom, beside the honor of the priesthood the Lord glorified also with martyrdom, Novatian is not in the Church; nor can he be reckoned as a bishop, who, succeeding to no one, and despising the evangelical and apostolic tradition, sprang from himself. For he who has not been ordained in the Church can neither have nor hold to the Church in any way" (Letters 69[75]:3 [A.D. 253]).

Jerome
"Far be it from me to speak adversely of any of these clergy who, in succession from the apostles, confect by their sacred word the Body of Christ and through whose efforts also it is that we are Christians" (Letters 14:8 [A.D. 396]).

Augustine
"[T]here are many other things which most properly can keep me in [the Catholic Church’s] bosom. The unanimity of peoples and nations keeps me here. Her authority, inaugurated in miracles, nourished by hope, augmented by love, and confirmed by her age, keeps me here. The succession of priests, from the very see of the apostle Peter, to whom the Lord, after his resurrection, gave the charge of feeding his sheep [John 21:15–17], up to the present episcopate, keeps me here. And last, the very name Catholic, which, not without reason, belongs to this Church alone, in the face of so many heretics, so much so that, although all heretics want to be called ‘Catholic,’ when a stranger inquires where the Catholic Church meets, none of the heretics would dare to point out his own basilica or house" (Against the Letter of Mani Called "The Foundation" 4:5 [A.D. 397]).

God bless you.

The God we worship said that the Bible is His written Word. If his written Word can be found to have errors in it, then who to say that He did not make errors in communicating that even Jesus is the Christ, or that faith is the means of salvation under the new Covenant, etc?
