Galatians 1 verse 18..Apostle Paul said this:

"Then after 3 years I went UP TO JERUSALEM TO SEE PETER, and abode with him 15 days...
Wow! If he was the Pope in Rome what was he doing hanging out in Jerusalem? Simple: He was the Apostle to The Jews, Paul was assigned to The Gentiles. (Romans, etc) bummer.

"And I also say unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it."

[/SIZE] Hello Marcelo,

And I would also add that, when Jesus said "upon this Rock I will build my church" he wasn't speaking about Peter, but of himself. Jesus had just asked the disciples the question "who do you say that I am?" Peter said, "you are the Messiah of God." So, Peter confessed who Christ was and then Jesus does the same to Peter "and I say that you are Peter." Then Jesus says, "upon this Rock I will build my church," referring to himself, not Peter. Jesus is the Rock.

And you are correct, scripture never teaches that there was to be one man over the entire church. In fact, the RCC is set up exactly opposite of what Jesus said:

"But Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Excellent! The idea of an infallible, all powerful human leader is the epitome of this...

Rev 2:6 But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

A little research into this brings one to the conclusion that lording it over God's people is the doctrine of the Nicolaitans. How does God feel about it?

Mat 20:25 But Jesus called them to Himself and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them.
Mat 20:26 Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant.
Mat 20:27 And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave—
Mat 20:28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many."

A real Christian leader is the one who serves others not in CHARGE of others.

So very True RBA238.

Galatians 2:7-8
[SUP]7 [/SUP]But on the contrary, seeing that I had been entrusted with the gospel to the uncircumcised, just as Peter had been to the circumcised [SUP]8 [/SUP](for He who effectually worked for Peter in his apostleship to the circumcised effectually worked for me also to the Gentiles),

Peter brought the Gospel to the circumcised. Paul brought the Gospel to the uncircumcised who are the gentiles.

Therefore it would have been Paul who was in line to be the first Pope, not Peter. Also it was Paul who was in charge of the Disciples, not Peter.

This proves the Catholic's see's nothing wrong with deceiving people into following the Catholic Church instead of God.

No Pope in the bible, We are the branches and He is the head. No need to give that much power to one man.

Another revelation regarding the Vatican: They are the only "Christian"Church ( cough, cough) who are Voting members of The United Nations.
I never read in my Bible where Jesus ever hobnobbed with politicians. He called the Religious Leaders in his days, "Hypocrites" He never condoned any of what The Catholic Church now does worldwide.

"And I John saw these things, and heard {them}. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.

Then saith he unto me, See {thou do it} not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God."

In the context of someone doing the same before Peter (as with Cornelius)

Acts 10:25 Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.

Peter's proper response was

Acts 10:26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

In the context of an angel (as with John)

Rev 22:8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.

The response of an angel sent from God

Rev 22:9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

In the context of Joshua even (as before the Ark also)

Jos 7:6 And Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the LORD until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.

The LORD here answered Joshua too

Jos 7:10 And the LORD said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?

Theres a few places of falling on ones face before either Apostle, an Angel, and the Ark (3 A's) :p

Mat 16:18
And I also say unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

How does anyone derive from this declaration of Jesus Christ that Peter is the first pope? In view of the teaching that we are to call no man father (pope), why would this title be conferred upon any flesh? We are to call no man (spiritually) father, for we have but one Father.

Peter certainly did not refer to himself as pope or father, and there are no humanly named popes until the Catholic church came into being, centuries later.

Do not be taken in by clever misapplication and misappropriation of theWord. Jesus Christ named no man "father," pope that is.
No. Peter's confession of CHRIST as the SON of THE LIVING GOD is the "rock/foundation" upon which CHRIST alone would build HIS CHURCH...

And Hebrews acknowledges Christ Jesus as THE Apostle of our profession (not Peter)

Heb 3:1
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling,
consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus

I have learned that we are amongst wolves that are in out right sheer rebellion and are very subtle. Christ said for judgment He came into the world and that some in our own household will be our enemies. I've walked in this world kind of taking the verses as not too seriously, but there comes a time we need to realize that this is very important for us to comprehend. And thus act accordingly to how Christ instructs about this matter.

In That Scripture, notice Jesus told Peter: "And UPON THIS ROCK, I WILL BUILD THIS CHURCH."
Christ, ( God in a fleshly body) is The Rock, not Peter being The Rock.

There are several scriptures telling us God is "The ROCK of our salvation"

Exactly Christ is the head of the church only. And His Church is not a building of this creation.
