Jonah had refused to do what God asked but because he went through that horrible experience he did decide to go to Nineveh and tell them God's message.

Was it more than just a test? Or was Jonah's experience something that happened to fulfill God's plan to save those folks?
"All things work together for good". God used Jonah for a reason: Out of all the prophets, Jonah had a problem with his enemies. The entire book points to the issue of his hatred & discrimination for Assyrians, which makes him a bad prophet. My bets are on that his call to Nineveh wasn't the first one he ran out on. Which means he wasn't 100% accurate.

Apostol2013....

A prophet doesn't "learn" to be a prophet, step by step, or by trial and error...
A prophet speaks exactly what God TELLS him/her to say. Nothing more, nothing less....

God speaks to my spirit almost every day, but the vast majority of what He tells me is for "MY" edification and walk with Him. Sometimes He tells me to keep watch when things are about to happen, but rarely any specifics, and I don't ask. And I DON'T go around telling everyone God speaks to me on a daily basis because that's between me and God. So if Jonny B. is a "prophet", let him prophesy and be done with it so we can all see for ourselves whether he is or isn't and we can put this little weekly "woe is me" mess to rest once and for all....

well one of the steps is perception what you need to see is sometimes the person may not be liberated or has not come to a complete knowledge of truth . and this is where it is needed so the prophet does give the message and thats it and this is whee it differs between the gift of prophecy and being an actual prophet but a novice needs to come to a complete knowledge of truth .so there is a learning process as most come to God as sinners there is a step process to perfection or as close as we can get to say it plainly

The prophets of the Old Testament were despised in their time. Later in Jesus time those same prophets were venerated.
The prophets of the last 2 millennia were despised in their time. Today they are venerated. The prophets of today are despised.
In a hundred years or so, they'll be venerated in their time.

If only we had that long........

I would like to agree with you, but in order to have a "school" of the prophets, that means they were learners, & not perfect.

We could agree that true pastors get their messages from God, yet at the same time aren't perfect in their preaching.
Are you referring to a school as a type of bible college for ministry or one where people go to learn bout miraculous gifts?

John 17:17 Sanctify, consecrate, venerate, make holy, and purify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Give 100 percent now to be Jesus' representative for eternity.

First of all tell people you are a prophet.
This will get you the most insults and probably sent to the mental hospital.
Secondly prophesy.
This is most hated by lukewarm Christianity. You will be called false no doubt and accused of adding to Scripture.
Finally expose sin.
You may be physically harmed or threatened.
If you are worthy these things are bound to happen.
All you have to do is...
1. Be biblical
2. Preach the truth
3. Stand on the truth
and all the people will love you, receive you, respect you...oh wait I was dreaming!

I believe it's for to learn about their gifts..........one way or the other, there would be imperfection, aye?
