Budddy look what happens if Jesus baptize 5000 men... they become ONE HEARRT AND ONE SOUL... That is ONE and edified as ONE, Only the Holy Spirit can do that. Acts 4. they were FILLED with the Holy Spirit. and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.
Act 4:32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul:
Buddy no water batism has EVER unified people like this! I have now proof that we can be baptized with the Holy Spirit without going through a water baptism. And I have proof that only the Holy Spirit baptism makes me holy! Look at Simon in acts 8. He was also baptized with water and he again went the opposite way than God's way.

It also says if you are not born of water and of sprit you cannot enter the kingdom of Heaven
The rest of the scripture says "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit" showing a separation of the two births. A person is physically born into the world but they must be spiritually born. There are two births that must take place.

This does not represent water baptism, for we know we are saved by grace through faith and not works. Water does not save anyone.

So you are saying "water" is referring to physical birth in this passage?

Elizabeth what water is this....
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

I think this is the WATER we should be born from, not the river or swimming pool water people use to baptize in

I would never tell another Christian I don't have time to explain something if I knew in my heart they were wrong. What is more important to you? Proving YOU are "right" or encouraging and edifying others?

This has nothing to do with the topic of this thread so it may be a good idea to be respectful and not bring up other subject matter from one thread to another., but i will say I never said I believed Jesus was white. What I did say is his skin color is not what saved me. It was his blood.

I get the strong impression that you are only here with your own personal agenda, and not to really discuss the bible, but to accuse others of believing in corrupt ways when it has been made clear to you on many occasions that some things you state may be in error.

I also never said the definition of baptism was water immersion. What I did was post scripture where water baptism was mentioned in the bible. Baptism does mean to immerse. There is also baptism by fire, and the Holy Spirit, but the bible also says there is only ONE baptism.

It also says if you are not born of water and of sprit you cannot enter the kingdom of Heaven.

Also, I will read your thread you posted.. If I am going to carry on this conversation with you I will at least read what you asked me to.
That is your own opinion!
why should I bother repeating the same explanations I've said in another post, it is time consuming! Because this baptism topic will be brought up again! It is no different to the "trinity Gods" topic being brought up all the time.
Now if people keep saying Jesus is not God, will you keep posting scriptures to prove them wrong? topic after topic!?
because I don't think you would.

Check out the topic website, same discussion ABOUT Baptism. It is not different to what we are talking about.
You are just afraid because you don't want to be proven wrong.

I know I am dead right 100%. If you want to prove me wrong, read through that topic.
All I will just do not is point out the bible verses you took out of context and I won't post scriptures.
Scriptures I've posted are on that topic site!

Yes that is your impression, but I am here to discuss bible and scrutinise it just like what Jesus wanted.
I am being humble, but you are not! You think you know baptism and you are right.
The fact was...I was exactly like this until I learnt the truth and wanted to know more from eternally-grateful.

Yes you posted water baptism that was mentioned in the bible.....WHY?
Does water baptsim save you or not?
does water wash away your sins or not?
does water cleanses you internally or not?

posting scripture means nothing, explain them and back them up.
you basically took them out of context to prove a point.

Born of water means water birth.
When we are inside our mom's womb...we are filled with water. We come out of her through water.
Jesus is not saying we have to be born of water+holy spirit.
He just meant we have to be born of water which is obvious and later holy spirit.

he also said "that which is flesh is of the flesh, and which is of the spirit is of spirit"
as you see...you took bible out of context.

Jesus referred flesh as water which is when we are born into this world. And holy spirit as spirit which he baptise into us.

How does one receive the holy spirit?
you would say "inside water" WHY?
because Jesus got the holy spirit when we was baptised in water? well that was Jesus.

Peter and others did not receive Holy Spirit until Acts. Jesus is the one that baptises with holy water.
water baptism is John's baptism that does nothing now.
Jesus is the way to repentance and sin forgiveness not water baptism.

Yes please...read the topic post

you believe they were immersed in water but no evidence.

Please look into this word "Baptised" original word is "Baptizo"
which means to be immersed!
Meaning you can be baptised in anything, because the word baptised DOES NOT MEAN immersed into water.
It means immersed into, and it can be anything.

No baptised into blood and fire isn't in the bible, but it is an example to show you can be baptised into anything.
The word baptised into fire originated during the war, when one is sprinkled with firing bullets.
baptised in blood (reference from 300 movie).

How is one baptised into Jesus Christ?
we all know that when we are baptised, we are buried into death with Jesus.
Now ask yourself this question- did Jesus die in water or on the cross?
Luke 12:50 Jesus said he has a baptism to undergo. Ok how can he have a baptism to undergo when he was baptised in water? the baptism he is talking about is death on the cross, which is why we say "we died unto him"

Tell me...what washes away your sins? water or Jesus blood?

Now the word Baptised means immersed.
when you pray, repent and confess is when you are immersed!
Jesus will do the rest of the work spiritually.
Romans 10:9 is HOW to be immersed into Jesus Christ.

water baptism DOES NOT SAVE!!!
It is a tradition still practised by the Church. Water Baptism is JOHN'S baptism.
Churches ONLY perform water baptism to be denominated into a membership of the church.
John said so that Jesus is coming to baptise with Holy Spirit.

What/who forgives your sins? water or Jesus?

Please read that topic!
there are different versions of Baptisms.

and yes I am looking into that passage, very puzzling! o_O

@Elizabeth619
I'm going to ignore your post. I've heard the same traditional doctrine before.
I advise you to read that topic!
I won't bother wasting my time to post scriptures.

you posted the scriptures, took some out of context and other scriptures you contradicted yourself.
WIth 1 Peter 3:21

This is why we need to stop drinking the milk and start eating meat Hebrews 6. You are still drinking milk but do not understand the concept of baptism. You are lied to by the church.
That is why the topic about Black people in the bible is quite important!

Open your eyes to the truth

Hello Xino (and my other friends),

Sorry, I'm a bit slow. I have read only up to this post. Will read more and then respond. I believe that the word "immersion" in the Book of Acts is synonymous with "water immersion." Let us see what this study leads us to. You have also made a reference to many verses (without mentioning the actual chapter numbers and verse numbers). I will study the things you mentioned and respond. Yes, I also haven't yet read your link- baptism problem. Will read it soon.

@Elizabeth, Thanks for the various verses regarding water baptism. I had read those before, but did not have them in one place.

@Cobus, I know you have written a long post. Will read it soon. Thanks.

It is very clear that some people do not understand what water baptism is.
Obviously talking about this to people who don't understand it like talking to a brink wall.

It was explained to me when I was baptized, that it signified obedience to Jesus and was also a public declaration of my believing in him.

Yet many do not realize it is the spiritual death to sin, and being resurrected in a new life. Life with Christ, and I refuse to carry on anymore conversations with people who are bitter and angry due to their own negative experiences(not meaning you)

The Holy Spirit did not fall on one of them... That means just what it says... They did not have the Holy Spirit YET! You see this is what I mean.... do we now get baptized three times? Once with water, once with the Holy Spirit then with the Holy Spirit and gifts? Come on! It says clearly that the Holy Spirit did not fall on one of them... but when John and Peter.... then Simon wanted to buy that gift of BAPTIZING WITH HOLY SPIRIT... and we know it cannot be bought. Not even Philip could baptize with Holy Spirit!

In this chapter it is clear that Baptism of Holy Spirit is the LAST step to holiness. Rebirth and glorification comes when God baptize with Holy Spirit! At the END of repentance! The End of justification. Just as Col 3 says.... Look at any of the people that received the Holy Spirit, even the Apostles, they had to WAIT till Jesus asked the Father and He Himself was glorified! Then God glorified Jesus in the apostles... John17. Jesus is glorified in ALL people that are baptized with Holy Spirit. And it is not the joke of Benni Hinn and his clowns. It is actually the Godly Holy Spirit of Jesus that comes into a person and glorifies that person for God's GLORY. That comes with a great power and a maifestation of nine gifts. 1 Cor 12. EVERY person filled with the Holy Spirit has at least one of these gifts, for ALL advantage!

My friend these people in Samaria was destined to get the Holy Spirit, that is why God send Peter and John to them to baptze them with the Spirit! Simon missed out it looks lke, because he thought money could buy Godly gifts.

Which version of the Bible are you referring to?
This verse says: "because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus." - NIV

In Acts 2: 14 they were filled with the Holy Spirit.
In you opinion, had they repented?
I guess not, because in Acts 2:38 Peter asked them to repent and get baptized. The purpose of Baptism is also mentioned: "for the forgiveness of your sins."

In the same verse, Peter promised them the gift of the Holy Spirit AT BAPTISM: "And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
If they had received the Holy Spirit earlier (in v. 14) why did Peter tell them that they WILL receive the gift of the Holy Spirit?
==================================================

Coby,
A Personal Question :
Did you receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit? When? How long did you wait for it? What did you experience? Which gift of the Holy Spirit do you possess?
Thanks.

@Cobus,
Just a side note:
I just viewed your profile. Are you saying that you do not wish to be called a "Christian?"
OR
Are you saying that anyone who "continues to sin" is not a Christian, and therefore you (and none of us) are Christians? Just want to know...

I ask this because I do see that you believe in Jesus. However your profile status contradicts your faith...or there must be a deeper meaning to it?

@Elizabeth619
if you have something to say, say it to our faces.
you just sound like someone who doesn't like being proven wrong.
if you wanna say something to someone, go ahead and say it. You don't go to another person and start saying it out loud so we can hear. I call that attention seeking because you do want to be heard!
Obviously if you want to talk about us, you private message.

@ForthAngel
it was taught to you. But I strongly suggest you read the bible and find the answers yourself.
I believed infant baptism was legit until they told me it wasn't. I had to read the bible and do my research to make sure and they turned out to be right.

A question...when Jesus was baptised in water and received the Holy Spirit, how come when people were baptised they didn't receive the holy spirit like Jesus did!?
it is exactly the same thing Online Buddy wants to find out in Acts 8:16.
Because when you think about it, it contradicts the bible. And bible cannot contradict itself, it is only human understand that contradicts themselves!

Jesus was baptised in water because it says so in the old testament, he did it to fulfil the laws! Much like how he would say things, reply in a manner and do things in manner JUST to justify and obey the scripture of Old Testament.
Many will say Jesus was baptised in water for us to follow
Many will say Jesus was baptised in water so we don't have to be baptised in water.

Eternally-Gratful is dead right, baptism topic is something that needs to be looked into and people just don't get baptism!
water does not save...period.

@Elizabeth619
yes being baptised spiritually means we are dead to our old ways and alive in Christ.
Now explain this to me.
I repented and my life has dramatically changed, I don't live the way I used to live before. Though I was not baptised in water.
How do you explain that!?

@clarkthompson
are you talking about general water baptism or Acts 8:16?
because how can those Samaritians be baptised by John? bible doesn't say so.

I am serving the Lord and I'm not baptised in water.
what say you?

@onlinebuddy
I'll take that question.

A Personal Question :
Did you receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit? When? How long did you wait for it? What did you experience? Which gift of the Holy Spirit do you possess?
Thanks.
When I prayed and repented.
Jesus blood cleansed my sin and my porn temptation INSTANTLY left my body. Now I do not know if I had received the Holy Spirit or not. Because another incident actually happened that following week. That was when I was on my knees for a sin I almost did or did. But after praying and repenting again, I knew I had the holy spirit. Because that was when my life changed. Also had a vision dream.

No you don't have to speak in Tongues when you get the holy spirit.
many will teach you holy spirit is speaking in tongues which is not.

The Gentiles recieved the Holy Spirit as evidence that the divide between Jews and Gentiles was gone, and they were accepted in to the church. This was the only reason they were able to speak in tongues.

Peter also ordered them to be baptized afterwards.
Sorry that was not the only reason. He edifies us grows Jesus in us reveals to us manifests Jesus through us witness' of Jesus ministers to others Jesus presence teaches us loves others by what we are allow Him to do through us Flows out of us living waters interceeds through us and for us. Produces the Character of Jesus by fruits His Fruits i believe you know and have experienced for yourself so also he does for all who open their hearts and souls to Jesus
