and as for your response regarding the 2 witnesses?

puhleeeeeeeeze...(not in the mood to be serious but this isn't snearious either)

let's face it. preterists will overlook anything not agreeing with their been there, done that timetable and if that doesn't fly, then the obvious 'uncertainty' filter kicks in

yup

I know about Josephus. I gotz a ginormous book by him.
Perhaps you should read it. Just a suggestion. It's like watching Mat 24 unfold before your eyes.

One kind of little hiccup with Preterism is that King Jesus is not literally seated on the throne of His father David in Jerusalem.

For the cause of Christ
Roger
That's okay because nothing says he does. Jesus is sitting on His throne in heaven. I think that is a far superior situation worthy of His status than to sit on some earthly throne in the city where He was murdered.

I assume you are alluding to:

Rom 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

What makes you think Paul is projecting this 1900 years into the future and that it demands a national revival on the dirt of Palestine?
How was Israel saved back in the first century, when they were dispersed in to the world.

Rom 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

Israel is blinded in part, they accept the Old Testament for the majority, but do not accept Jesus, but Israel as a nation has to accept Christ, which Jesus said, the Jews will not see Him again until they acknowledge Him as Lord,so God will have to turn the nation of Israel to the truth that Jesus is their Messiah, which has never happened since they rejected Him when He was on earth.

They were dispersed in to the nations,so they could not accept Jesus as a nation, and when they became a nation again, they did not accept Jesus, and not until this day.

They are blinded in part until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in,when salvation is no longer available to the Gentiles, but we see salvation is still available to the Gentiles,so Israel is still blinded in part, but they have to come to the truth as a nation which they have not done yet.

And so all Israel shall be saved, for God will turn Israel to the truth that Jesus is their Messiah, and physical Israel will become spiritual, and Jesus will save Israel when the world attacks them because they acknowledge Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Rom 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
Rom 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
Rom 11:28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.
Rom 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

The only way that ungodliness can be turned away from Jacob, the 12 tribes of Israel,is if they are on their land, and as a nation acknowledge Jesus which they have not done yet.

The gifts and calling of God are without repentance on God's part, for God called Israel and will never turn from it.

Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Jer 31:35 Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
Jer 31:36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
Jer 31:37 Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.

Jer 33:24 Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the LORD hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.
Jer 33:25 Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;
Jer 33:26 Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob, and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.

Eze 39:21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them.
Eze 39:22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.
Eze 39:23 And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.
Eze 39:24 According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them.
Eze 39:25 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name;
Eze 39:26 After that they have borne their shame, and all their trespasses whereby they have trespassed against me, when they dwelt safely in their land, and none made them afraid.
Eze 39:27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;
Eze 39:28 Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.
Eze 39:29 Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

Zec 14:1 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.
Zec 14:2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.
Zec 14:3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
Zec 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
Zec 14:5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.
Zec 14:9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.
Zec 14:16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Zec 14:17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
Zec 14:18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Zec 14:19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

Th 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2Th 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
2Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Dan 8:23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.
Dan 8:24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.
Dan 8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

The man of sin will establish peace in the Middle East, and it will pave the way for all Jews to go to Israel, and the Jews and the Gentiles will be separated, which God said He will leave none of the Jews in the nations, and will bring the whole house of Israel to Israel.

The Jews will split Jerusalem with the Palestinians, and the Jews will rebuild their temple with no hassle from the Palestinians, and since the Jews are blinded in part they will go back to animal sacrifices.

The Gentile nations will come together and say,Peace and safety, and will try to establish peace on earth.

After three and one half years the man of sin will step in to the Jews temple, and claim to be God,and their Messiah, and address the world that he harnessed the power of nature, and obtained power, which the second beast does miracles in the sight of people to convince them that the first beast did receive power, and gave this power to the second beast.

All people who do not love God will follow the beast kingdom, and when they take the mark, salvation is no longer available to them, and the fulness of the Gentiles have come in.

God will send the Jews 2 witnesses to turn them to the truth for three and one half years.

After that time the nation of Israel is in the truth that Jesus is their Messiah, and the world will attacks Jerusalem, the Jews, and Jesus comes back with His saints, and defeats the world, and saves Israel, and so all Israel shall be saved.

The Jews are blinded in part, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in,and so all Israel shall be saved, which can only be done if Israel as a nation acknowledges Jesus as Messiah, which they have not done ever since they rejected Christ when He walked the earth.

Don't need a crystal ball because if you had read Josephus your belief system would forever change.

I honestly don't know what God's plans are (or aren't) for secular Israel in our day. The Bible is silent concerning our times, i.e., there is no mention of Hitler and the holocaust which was a pretty big deal in the history of the Jewish people.

That's hilarious PL - nice looking dog.
She's a real sweetie but she doesn't like cats, squirrels or pigs. If I play a YouTube video with any of those she goes crazy attacking my screen. Same thing if they come on TV. She loves to watch TV too. I have to be careful she doesn't knock it over.

I see the false charge of "replacement" theology is being bandied around against preterism along with the charge of "antisemitism".

Wrong - there is nothing in preterism that is antisemitic.

This charge of "replacement theology" is a false charge leveled at preterism by dispensationalists who claim the body of Christ will be replaced by a nation possessing the dirt in Palestine.

That is replacement theology if ever I saw one.

Preterists state that the church as the new Israel started by the apostles and with Christ as it's cornerstone is the God authored plan as revealed by the prophets.

The physical nation of Israel as of the 1st century is no longer a nation "special" to God as it's shadow/type function is fulfilled in the body of Christ and the nationhood of believers.

1 Pet 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Isa 65:15 And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord GOD shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name.

The slaying of Isa 65:15 was the judgment on apostate Judah/Israel for shedding the blood of the prophets and was meted out in the war of 66-70 AD by Christ's instrument the Romans armies.

This was the termination of the covenant with the flesh nation of Israel. Any supposed descendant of the Jew's/Israelites that survived the war of the 1st century AD are more than welcome to be baptized into Christ.
I was just reading a bit last night noticing How many times God told the israelites that if they continued with thier rebellion He would bring to pass all the curses of the Law. from the Law itself when moses is readying for death He writes the whole law in a book, and God tells Him that when He dies the people will become rebellious even moreso than when moses was with them. He then goes on to explain all that will happen to israel, and its exactly what happened.

near the end of the prophets it is really clear Goid has turned away from the covenant, as He said He would do. the people broke the covenant and eventually Gid turned His face from them wouldnt accept thier sacrifice or offerings, wouldnt Hear thier prayers or recognize thier fasts. all he had establuished for them to do in the Law, late in prophecy again and again he says the former things are finished, He says Israel and judah are two Whorish sisters, He calls them babylon, sodom and gomorrah. when a person reads things in prophecy it really ends the confusion of what the plan was and How perfectly it unfolded.

Eventually God says He will turn when His wrath is fulfilled and save the remnant of israel, yet as you are saying here they cant go back to the Mosaic covenant and be saved, they too Like all people have to come to Jesus and do it His way. its amazing How much insight is in the prophets when you read them from the foundation of the Gospel rather than a foundation of Moses. The More of the Gospel a person grasps, the clearer prophecy becomes. and the clearer prophecy becomes the More the gospel is grasped.

How was Israel saved back in the first century, when they were dispersed in to the world.
Same was as today. By faith not looking at their own flesh which even the Son of man applied to His ;it did not profit because it could not ..

Words used to carry meanings. Seems like we are heading towards the tower of Babble. Discriminating against words having meaning as a law not subject to change is a no, no today.Just use your own imagination. If it feel good do it.

Not all Israel.. a word that means .. “Emanuel God with us” are Israel . If any man has not the Spirit of Christ that gives us as born again children of God a new spirit and new heart..they do not belong to Him

The new name he names those who do have the Spirit of Christ is Christian. Not all who take the name are residents of the City of Christ the New Jerusalem prepared as his one bride .God is not a respecter of person.

What applies to Israel applies to the word Christian .God puts no difference (none) between the two, purifying the hearts of both by a work of His faith or labor of His love.

Gen 32:28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power "with God" and with men, and hast prevailed.

They were used for special purposes up till the time of reformation . They revert back to the gentile from where they were taken temporarily. When the fulness of the gentiles has come (the last day) they will be of every nation of the world to include Jewish flesh .

Matt,

How was Israel saved back in the first century, when they were dispersed in to the world.
We have the saved Israel and we have the lost, condemned, Israel of the first century. The saved Israel were Christians, just like you and me. They were the 144K on Mount Zion called to leave Jerusalem before the Great Tribulation (aka, the Roman siege). They are every bit part of the church just as the Gentile churches Paul (and others) established. None of them faced God's wrath (the destruction of Israel) as they were told when to flee and they indeed did flee to Pella.

Why are you taking various scripture which deals with different time periods and lumping them into one and moving them into the future?

2 Thes dealt with Titus, the Man of Sin, who was worshiped in the temple by his men who made sacrifices to him and declared him to be above God. It was here, on the temple mount, where Titus ordered all the surviving Jewish priests to be killed. It was here were Titus made at least 3 other divine decrees that only God could make. It was Titus who was in an adulterous affair with Jewish Queen Berenice, before, during and after the war just as Jerusalem was in an adulterous affair with Rome. It was Titus who took a harlot into the holy of holies and committed an abominable "sin" with her.

Dan 8 dealt with 2nd century BC events with Antiochus IV Epiphanes and the war between his Seleucid Empire and the Maccabees.

Study your history my friend. It will serve you well.
