Their mortal bodies are dead. If their spirit is in heaven, have they risen to that of Godhood and put on God's mantle of omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence? Can they hear us at all from where they are? Can they hear all of our prayers at once and respond to them? Are they now God's as well?
Talking to a dead relative according to the bible is an abomination. As far as saying a sentiment in regard to the deceased relative as a means of reconciliation or mourning, I see no issue with it. But praying to that relative in hopes that your prayer is heard is abomination according to the bible. Asking for help from a dead relative is an abomination according to the bible.
