1).The Bible is the Word of God, Inerrant in the original autographs.

2).There is only One God, Creator of all creation: three Persons in Trinity; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

2).God became flesh in Christ Jesus; born of a Virgin, conceived of the Holy Spirit.

3).Christ atoned for our sins through His death and shed blood on the cross.

4).Christ rose bodily from the grave and ascended into Heaven; conquering death and proving that He is God.

5).Salvation is only through Christ; available now to all through repentance, faith towards God, and being born again as a new creation in Christ.

6).Christ shall return, there will be a final judgment of eternal reward and eternal punishment.

7). Hope - Looks first for the good rather than the evil in all things.
"And God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." -Genesis 1:31
"And now abides faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." -I Corinthians 13:13

8). Mystery - The Infinite God cannot be fully comprehended or explained by finite man.

"Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen." -I Timothy 6:16
"Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God." -I Corinthians 4:1
"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." -I Timothy 3:16
"O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor? ...For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen." -Romans 11:34-36

9). Environment - Stewardship of God's Creation.

"Then the LORD God took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it." -Genesis 2:15
:"Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas." -Psalm 8:6-8
"Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful." -I Corinthians 4:2

10). Holism - Awareness of the sacred in all times and places; refusal to compartmentalize life.

"And these words, which I command you this day, shall be in your heart: And you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up." -Deuteronomy 6:6-7
"For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's." -Romans 14:8
"Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:" -Ephesians 1:9-10

11). Immanence - God is present with His Creation.

"For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be the glory for ever. Amen." -Romans 11:36
"That they should seek the Lord...though he be not far from every one of us: For in him we live, and move, and have our being;" -Acts 17:27-28

12). Simplicity - Emphasis on the "main and plain" basic essential doctrines:

"But I fear, lest by any means...your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." -II Corinthians 11:3
"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" -I Corinthians 15:3-4
"And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." -I Corinthians 2:1-2

Alright, let's see how quickly I can be called a heretic.

God: Three persons, one essence. Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Perichoresis.

Jesus: Hypostatic Union. King-Priest office.

The Bible: No problem with higher criticism, no active belief in inerrancy. Jesus is the Word.

Salvation: Exists outside of Christianity, but not outside of Christ.

The Church: Is comprised of all Christians in all denominations throughout time, including anonymous Christians outside of Christianity.

Eternal Security: Don't believe in it.

Unpardonable Sin: Don't believe in it.

The Mosaic Law: Jesus saying that he came to fulfill the law, rather than abolish the law is logically not relevant to people whose ancestors were not a part of the Mosaic covenant. As seen in Acts 15 and Acts 21.

Baptism: I don't care if by immersion or pouring or sprinkling or infant baptism or adult baptism, it isn't for necessary for salvation anyway.

The Great Flood: A parody of the Gilgamesh Epic meant to teach that God is one and just, in contrast to Mesopotamian religion.

Evolution: Yup.

Age of the Earth: 4.54 Billion years.

Satan: Some sort of evil "being" that constantly tries to assassinate the character of God.

Hell: Immortality is conditional, the damned are annihilated.

The Rapture: A misunderstanding of Paul's mixing of metaphors.

The Tribulation: Didn't that happen already?

The Land of Israel: A great place to work in the high tech industry.

The Jewish People: Gifts and promises of God are irrevocable. Romans 11. Couldn't be more obvious.

Taccon, thanks for being honest in your profile by stating 'not a christian'.
Some with views much differing from scripture than yours will claim 'christian'.

The Lord adores a humble heart
Good for me that He doesn't adore lightning bolts or I might look like Kramer from Seinfeld right about now.

haha.

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all age God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men/women he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontious Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the scriptures. He. is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in Glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and Son, who with the Father and Son is adored and Glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in One, Holy, Catholic , and Apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.

God: A trinity. The Godhead exists in three persons - one in purpose, co-equal, and in perfect harmony with each other. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Agree !!!

Jesus: Fully man and fully God. The eternal and uncreated Son. Died on a cross and rose from the dead on the third day. His sacrifice was sufficient to pay for the sins of the entire world.

Agreed, His death was payment for all sins but we receive that remission in belief from repenting and confession our sins.......

The Bible: God's inerrant word. Written by men through the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Agreed, but also believe other writings by the Apostles that aren't in the bible were Holy Spirit inspired as well.

Salvation: By grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus alone, to God alone be the glory. It is God's gift that cannot be earned or kept by the works of man in any way

Agreed, but the faith has to be an active faith with the fruits of the Spirit very noticable !!!

The Church: The combined body of believers and not one specific denomination.

Agreed !!!

*Eternal Security: I believe this is Biblical.

Do not agree, because these scriptures refute it; Matthew 25:1-13, 14-30; Luke 8:13, 9:62, 12:42-48; John 15:1-6; Acts 4:32, 5:1-11, 8:9-24, 20:28-30; Romans 11:13-23; 1 Cor. 9:26-27, 10:1-12; Galatians 2:11-14, 5:4, 6:1; 1 Timothy 1:18-20, 4:1, 5:8, 6:10; 2 Timothy 2:16-18; Hebrews 3:12, 4:1-2, 4:11, 6:4-8, 10:26-31, 10:38-39; James 5:19-20; 1 Peter 5:8; 2 Peter 2:1, 2:20-22, 3:17; 2 John 1:8-9; Revelation 2:4-5, 3:5, 3:16-17

Unpardonable Sin: The only unpardonable sin is rejection of salvation through Christ. Any one can be saved up to the moment of death.

Disagree as the only unforgivable sin is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, that is summed up in rejecting the guidance, gifts, and fruits of the Holy Spirit. Acts 5:1-11 also gives a description of this unforgivable sin, as it is not summed up as just unbelief. We were all in unbelief at one point before we came to Christ !!!

The Mosaic Law: Christians are not under Law. It's only purpose is to prove our inability to keep it, and thus point mankind to the cross.

Acts 15 shows 4 ordinances are still to be followed, but not the rest, and Romans 13:9-11 shows by love the 10 Commandments will also be upheld........

Baptism: An outward sign of internal conviction. Symbolizes the death and burial of self, and resurrection to our new life in Christ. Not a requirement for salvation.

Agree with first part, but believe it is a requirement as it is commanded by the Lord to be done, and Apostle Peter shows repentance and baptism to be done first is the standard before one receives the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38)

The Great Flood: Worldwide. The only survivors being Noah, his family, and the animals taken aboard the Ark.

Agreed..........

Evolution: Micro-evolution (adaptive changes within a kind) is true. Macro-evolution (one kind changing into an entirely different kind) is false.

Agreed.........

Age of the Earth: Less than ten thousand years.

Agreed.........

Satan: An actual living being. A former angel, who, through the sin of pride, rebelled against his Creator and was cast out of heaven. He, and the angels who rebelled with him, are the adversaries of believers specifically, and mankind in general.

Agreed.........

Hell: Eternal suffering for all inhabitants who rejected God's gift of salvation through Christ.

Disagree because Luke 12:42-48 refutes that all will receive the same punishment............

The Rapture: I believe there will be a pre-tribulation rapture of the church. An entirely separate event from Christ's second coming.

Disagree do to Apostle Paul says the man of sin will be revealed first, and he is not revealed tell the middle of the 7 year tribulation period..........

The Tribulation: I believe in a literal seven year tribulation period, when God pours His wrath out upon rebellious mankind, followed by a literal one thousand year millennial period when Christ rules on earth with a rod of iron.

Agree in a 7 year tribulation period but it is not God's wrath; 1st 3 1/2 years = covenant made, 2nd 3 1/2 years = man of sin persecution of Jews and Christians......Then God's wrath poured out in the vial/bowl judgments !!!

The Land of Israel: Given to the Jewish people as an eternal covenant between God and Abraham's seed.

Agreed......

The Jewish People: I believe God's promise that those who curse them shall be cursed, and those who bless them shall be blessed.

Agreed........

It was meant as a joke and that is why I followed it up with haha and just kidding. I jokingly stoned him as a heretic for stating his beliefs. It probably wasn't funny, so I apologize.

You don't believe that Tebow will save the day?

Where's the nearest stone?

haha.
His last name is neither Brady or Manning. At one time we had McNabb, who was the third best QB. That got us to the Super Bowl, but not the win. Tebow is a second string.

By the way, I think that this thread was a great idea. It's important to know what others believe and this also can counter people being misrepresented by others in debates. In other words, this provides a place of reference so that we can know what type of believer we're actually talking to. I'd imagine that some people might amend their views over time and that would be interesting to watch.
True curiosity. (As in, "not biting your head off," since I sound like I am, even when I'm not. lol)

Will you remember who believes what out of this thread? And, you could. The older we get the worse our memory, so you've only hit that "the older you get" 10 years ago. The decline starts at roughly 16 years older. (This is something I learned back in the olden days when I was in college learning how to teach -- ram the stuff in the kids' heads early, or they'll forget it later. lol)

The reason I ask is because I'm looking at this post two days later and already noticed I forgot who said what.

(I give that as a warning to all, in case we get into a heated debate and I end up asking, "Yeah? Well what do YOU believe?" And then someone reminds me he/she told me here. lol)

God: one triune God.. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit

So therefore I believe in the diety of Christ

I believe in eternal security

I believe the unpardonable sin is rejecting salvation of Jesus

I reject calvinism but also reject arminianism... I believe..'saved by grace through faith in Christ that is eternally secure..'

(I believe calvinists never call for salvation and arminians believe salvation can be lossed)

I believe the church is all of the Lord's churches, not every believer. I believe every believer is in the Family and Kingdom of God.. but is not the body of Christ.

As DC typed- '1. Concerning the churches.....individual autonomous bodies separate for each other but with equal authority under Christ and one body of believers in heaven.'

I believe in a young earth - 10,000 or less years old.

Concerning baptism: full immersion baptism in water that has no bearing on eternal salvation. No infant baptism. Baptism of believers only. Baptism also is pre-requisite for joining one of the Lord's churches.

Concerning spiritual gifts: sign and ministry gifts have fulfilled their purpose with the death of the apostles and the completion of the canon. Three gifts remain: faith, hope and love

Pretty much in line with Bud.. but again.. like DC.. the church not being every believer.. but local bodies of believers. Figurative for all of them or of one in particular.

I believe in everything in the Bible but I believe that there's a level on which we can't take everything literal. The Bible was inspired by God but wasn't written by God and though the men that wrote it had the holy spirit, they were only men and only God can be always right so we can't take everything that's said in it and believe upon it that it has 100% accuracy.
