Last time I checked, the scriptures weren't a dictionary to offer definitions of words. Would you like to reconsider that request??? or do you not mind people sniggering at you behind your back?
Show me a scripture that says that. I gave you one where Quickening relates to being saved by Grace. Eph 2:5

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved )

quickened means to be joined the body by grace grace came trough jesus christ and dont forget truth Joh 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
to abide in christ we must hate wickedness and love righteousness for in this the children of God are manifest therefore to abide in christ is to abolish sin and love righteousness and be watchfoll of our salvation that we remain in Him

From G4862 and G2227; to reanimate conjointly with (figuratively): - quicken together with.
A primary preposition denoting union; with or together (but much closer than G3326 or G3844), that is, by association, companionship, process, resemblance, possession, instrumentality, addition, etc.: - beside, with. In compounds it has similar applications, including completeness.
(re-) vitalize (literally or figuratively): - make alive, give life, quicken.

Quickened just means we have been joined together into the body of Christ by his grace , also that by his grace we are saved
Oh good grief. IT DOES NOT. It means matured. The word was used and around long before Christ was born. Can you imagine the confusion that would have caused if your definition was true? sheesh man.

You take a word from the Bible, that had meaning for ages before it was used in that letter, then impose a definition that you concoct 2K years later, and try to sell that as the original. THAT IS PREPOSTEROUS!

There is no talking with someone like you who is so danged right they can't learn even the most obvious of things.

to make one alive together <<< is the word in Eph 2:5

That is the meaning of the word. IT WAS USED SOMETIMES to show the growing into unity with Christ that occurs. But that is a step fo maturity, not an instant boom done event because you said some magic prayer and took a magic bath.

Here is the NASB

Eph 2:5

even when we were dead fnin our transgressions, made us alive together fnwith Christ (by grace you have been saved),

They are a more word for word definition.

If you do the etymological research on the word QUICKENED, and go back to it's roots you'll see it meant different to the King Jim translators than you expressed here too.

How much of your theological beliefs do you suspect is based on your edited presentations of His word?

I refuted your interpretationof that verse. You ignored it and ran from it like a girl running from a bugger on a boys finger chasing her.

Why on earth would I continue to try to reason with you, when you have shown all you will do is stand on the soap box and evade issues you can't answer and repeat them over and over as if they weren't answered?

Your statement of that verse's meaning was crap. I showed it to be. You can answer that, or just continue to avoid it and the world can judge you on your behavior.

NONE Of that matches the definition you gave above.

The word is NOT ONLY USED IN CHRISTIAN FAITH. That is the point. You take it as if it was used NO WHERE with NO MEANING other than in the Bible. So you corrupt the word and impose your own thoughts into it.

You can call cow dung flowers, but it still smells like cow dung.

Serious question, if you are some atheist/agnostic in here mimicking a stereotype of a Christian believer and that's why you are saying such dense things. Please drp me a note. I won't ruin your fun, and will keep your secret.

That's literally the ONLY way I can see any person saying what you just said. It's utterly inane.

By a gracious act of God, we are quickened together with Christ. To be quickened with Christ is to mean that we are saved. It was a gracious act of God that Christ is the instrument to be saved.

You said: This is "utterly inane".

What is void of sense is one saying that it was "utterly inane"

So, Tannar:

Do your parents claim you?

You give a definition of the word, in one sentence of the Bible where it was used.

I gave a definition of the word itself.

Doing it your way, confuses things. Such as the word SANCTIFIED. It's used in different ways in different' places. You can sanctify a goat, or cow, or candle, or minora, but they aren't sanctified as a man is. And for man there are different sanctifications. They are "sanctified" by Christ at atonement, and are Sanctified at Christian maturity. But it's a different sanctification. One is looked upon as set apart by God, the other is made to be different and thus inherently apart from others.

TO BE QUICKENED WITH CHRIST, would be to be quickened, as I defined the word, with Christ. It would look like Eph 4 where it says you are grown in unity and knowledge of Him, until you are as completely Spiritually Mature as HE was. WHICH is something I bet most of you say won't happen on earth. But Paul said it would/could/should.

Why would you say I am an atheist/agnostic person. Did you not understand what I said? Shall I diagram the sentences for you to help you with subjects and verbs and modifiers?

Then enlighten us with examples where "quicken" is used to mean anything else then "to make alive together". If you are going to say it means something else, then use examples of how ancient Greeks used it..

P.S. Still waiting on examples how ancient Greeks used agape for rape.

concrete is quickened when it dries all the way through. The largest dams in America are dozens of years old, and the concrete still quickens in some of them. It gives them some flexibility, bend not break. But they are still being quickened. They haven't got to the finished part yet. They are in a process of quickening.

I gave that example already. I really do wish you guys would read what I say before you start slinging pixels like you have a gist o fmy comment when you don't.

I answered the rape thing fifty ways. You can use your head for colorectal self examinations and repeat the same things over and over and continue to ignore when you are answered, and I'll eventually get to the point where I won't take you out of ignore. I keep hoping..... but.... a rock is a rock is a rock.

The word quickening has to do with getting to a place.

Whether it's destination, task, or growth, it's still quickening.

WHen concrete quickens itis not growing closer to Christ.

You have corrupted the word and taken ONE contextual use of it, and redefined the word as ONLY being that definition.

That is fundamentally wrong. And both of you have done it with other words in other places. You turn them into cliches, and as such make a farce out of them.

And ancient Greek examples?
Go read plato in Greek. You'll find it in abundance.

BTW Plato, was how many hundreds of years before Christ? Alexander the Great's tutor, Aristotle, who taught Gamaliel who taught Peter, was about 400+ years before Christ.

Yahooed : "quickened concrete", "quicken concrete", "how to quicken concrete", with no results of those words on the front page.

Yahooed " quicken and found the following, with my notes in red:
quick·en
[kwik-uhn] Show IPA
verb (used with object)
1.
to make more rapid; accelerate; hasten: She quickened her pace. (concrete is accelerated when it is dried?)
2.
to give or restore vigor or activity to; stir up, rouse, or stimulate: to quicken the imagination. (concrete is stimulated when dried?)
3.
to revive; restore life to: The spring rains quickened the earth. (concrete is restored to life when dried?)
verb (used without object)
4.
to become more active, sensitive, etc.: This drug causes the pulse to quicken. (concrete is made more active when dried?)
5.
to become alive; receive life.
6.
(of the mother) to enter that stage of pregnancy in which the fetus gives indications of life. (concrete enters a stage of pregnancy in which its fetus gives indications of life when dried?)
7.
(of a fetus in the womb) to begin to manifest signs of life. (concrete show signs of life when it is dried?)
Then I Yahooed your words: concrete is quickened when it dries all the way through

Still nothing.

P.S. Still waiting on ancient Greek usage of agape as rape and now usage of quickened as "to set up hard". You have not given ancient Greek examples, so do not say you have or point me to that post.

And?

I've laid more concrete in my life than you have in all your families houses. Sorry. Your failure at Google has no bearing on the meaning of the word.

We make a compound where I work, it's like a bubble gum cigar. You cut off a piece, squeeze it, make it hot, and wrap it around a bolt. Leave it for a few hours and it quickens. When it is done quickening it is considered cured. When it is cured it is done "setting", "drying", etc...

The label says quickened on it. It was approved by our lawyers, and the US GOVT.

Blame them for your ignorance.

So, your personal attack means......... you still don't have an answer.

You go through a lot of effort to hide your inadequacies. Dude, our faults can make us strong, embrace yours and do the research to my answer and get back to me.

ANd, even though you set up to offer, I'll decline when you get up the guts to ask me out. So stick to the conversations and leave your love interests out of the forum.

Well if we are quickened with christ then we abide in his grace in his righteousness not the righteousness of our own precepts
