P
oh, dear, i've been 'ma'am'ed. lol
(please call me ellie, if you wish )
i happen to agree with you here. the church we attend sings the old hymns and i'm quite partial to them. we also sing some of the newer hymns for the Church, like Keith and Kristyn Getty's. those are very lovely, too.
we know people (OLD people like us haha) who sing the more contemporary songs, and i can assure you it hasn't influenced their walk with the Lord in negative ways. we know their pastor as a friend and he's no more or less a sinner than you or i, i daresay.
i highly doubt music alone draws a believer toward the world. but yes, some of the more contemporary songs are ill suited for worshiping God, though they may bless people in their daily lives? idk...i'm not everyone.
when you say 'dress standards'....i hope you mean immodest apparel of believers (which i also am sad about) and not the lack of suits and ties and dresses and pumps and pearls?
we wouldn't want the unsaved wandering into a church! LOL
as to the KJV-only standpoint, i enjoy the KJV, but it's not my primary reading for enjoyment Bible.
i don't believe the newer translations are denying the Lord Jesus has come in the flesh,
but i'm sorry for you that you do.

Here's an important thing to consider ma'am. Singing the old hymns, will never draw someone back to the world. Singing the Old Hymns keeps the focus on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Singing contemporary "Christian" music will draw believers back in the world. There is a totally different spirit behind CCM. church assemblies which play CCM are worldly and carnal. No wonder many of the church assemblies across this nation have become flesh pots, with no dress standards, and such. Because the music they are playing has the spirit of antichrist. Just as the modern versions which they use also has the spirit of antichrist.
