Is there a middle ground? Music that draws the carnal with lyrics for the spirit? Surely there is. Is it good for you? Only God knows. All I know is that its not good for me.

i'm not sure there is such a thing as music that has zero carnal appeal.
we might call that "noise" -- although, also, there are people who actually dig that ((me included, to a degree)).

if the measuring stick is whether or not the music is appealing to the ears, then should "christian music" be atonal and chaotic? nah. Psalm 33:3 says play "skillfully" or "well" - and we know He's not a God of confusion.

we gotta "judge rightly, not by appearance" -- including like you said, what personally affects us toward sin, but may not be temptation for someone else.

According to the apostle John, yes, we are tribulation saints, and in the tribulation. It might not be the Great Tribulation, but tribulation all the same.

CCM stands for Contemporary(current, modern, new) Christian Music.
Basicly, the OP is against modern music. The fool does not realize that most CCM is based in Euro/American folk music and is in 3/3 signature with lilted meter ... not 4/4 signature with backbeat meter like "rock and roll".
The guy is just speaking without any knowledge. Best to just ignore.
He probably thinks that all guitarists use hairspray and makeup.

Here's an important thing to consider ma'am. Singing the old hymns, will never draw someone back to the world. Singing the Old Hymns keeps the focus on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Singing contemporary "Christian" music will draw believers back in the world. There is a totally different spirit behind CCM. church assemblies which play CCM are worldly and carnal. No wonder many of the church assemblies across this nation have become flesh pots, with no dress standards, and such. Because the music they are playing has the spirit of antichrist. Just as the modern versions which they use also has the spirit of antichrist.

I have been a musican for over 40 years, and I have yet to hear or see a 3/3 signature. The bottom note is the kind of note which takes the beat. Since there is NO 3 beat (whole note, half note, quarter note, eight note, sixteenth note, thirty second note, etc, ect) you cannot have a 3 on the bottom.

The top note is the number of beats. There is a 3/4 time signature, which is the waltz tempo, and it certainly is not used in "Euro/American folk music. "

Perhaps you are thinking of 6/8 time, which does have a lilt?

If you are going to post on music, make sure you know what you are talking about. The rest of the post becomes irrelevant because of your mistaken time signature.

That may be true, but why couldn't you take a half note, blacken it 33%, maybe also shorten the stem? You could even call it a graceless note. This is ChristianChat, you know!

This post does not refute what she said. Also, the OPPOSITE of what you just said I have witnessed with people who come to Christ, especially the young. They are singing to themselves Godly, Biblically based Christian songs, and don't like secular music with similar beats. They are just happy to praise and worship the Lord, with a great message, in a sound and style that they prefer.

Really? I mean really? Tribulation saints? How about age of grace saints? Oh my the people perish for the lack of biblical discipleship. Less CCM and more bible study.
