Doesn't sound very antichrist to me. We sing this one at church. In fact I lead worship last weekend and we did this song.

You call us out from the depths
Into Your freedom
Our chains are gone
No weapon formed shall prevail
Your word is stronger
We overcome

Your glory resounds through the age
All saints declaring
Your great renown
Your Kingdom forever will stand
We won't be shaken
We will not fear

Our God a mighty warrior
You're a consuming fire
In victory You reign
We triumph in Your name
Jesus the great commander
You conquered death forever
In victory You reign
We triumph in Your name

Your glory resounds through the age
All saints declaring
Your great renown
Your Kingdom forever will stand
We won't be shaken
We will not fear

Our God a mighty warrior
You're a consuming fire
In victory You reign
We triumph in Your name
Jesus the great commander
You conquered death forever
In victory You reign
We triumph in Your name

And we declare Your name is power
Exalted One no name is higher
You stand alone our strong defender
Above You there's no other, above You there's no other

And we declare Your name is power
Exalted One no name is higher
You stand alone our strong defender
Above You there's no other, above You there's no other
Above You there's no other, above You there's no other

Our God a mighty warrior
You're a consuming fire
In victory You reign
We triumph in Your name
Jesus the great commander
You conquered death forever
In victory You reign
We triumph in Your name

Honestly? That's actually what I don't like about Christian music. It tends to focus on our power, our abilities, our lives, our triumphs. I prefer the old songs that speak of God alone. I don't mean that song is sinful or anything, I'm just missing God in song.

Lol...you're cute Lynn! I love your honesty! Its vibrant,...not hypocritical. Honestly I just have lyrics of my own constantly flowing through my head. I have no idea who this man is. But I believe that the Holy Spirit will reveal the antichrist. Accusing all kinds of people I don't do. Why...that's just grasping for straws. And once you guess on everything. The enemy picks up on this vibe, and your path in righteousness,.. Is off course. :(

I'm not sure if I believe that Christian artists should perform concerts for money in churches.
Why not? Your pastor performs a sermon for money in church? Money isn't evil. Love of money is.

I've volunteered and played ccm at my church for over 10 years. I paid to see Brandon Heath at a local church. Very life giving concert. Best 20 bucks I ever spent.
Holy cow! $20! The last concert I went to (which actually was in a church lol) was Phil Keagy for $7! Next thing you're going to tell me is a rock concert doesn't cost $8.50 now.

nirvana, one of the greatest rock bands to EVER grace this planet.
Pffft, says the kid! The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Moody Blues, Pink Floyd. The members of Nirvana were still getting their faces wiped by mommy when the greats were being great. lol

(Fannery jousting, not to be taken too seriously. I also think the Philadelphia Eagles are... errrr were a great football team. lol)

I love Brad paisleys version of it.
I never knew that. My voices has been trained since age of five. But I think old rugged cross sounds better for a man singer. I'd have to sing it higher lol...I love them old bluegrass Gospel if its an old hymn :)

i do like this part of that song:

married
buried
yeah, yeah, yeah yeah

want to know why?

married:
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.
(Ephesians 5:25-27)

buried:
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
(Romans 6:4)

yeah yeah yeah yeah:
Let the godly exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds.
(Psalm 149:5)

allow me to change the lyrics a little bit (msr. Cobain wrote "sun"):

In the Son
In the Son I feel as one
In the Son
In the Son
Married!
Buried!
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

now does anyone mind if i just sing that?
It depends. Can you sing? You certainly don't want me singing it, because I can't sing. lol

That's one of my favorites too. Along with Be Thou My Vision and A Mighty Fortress. (And any song directly pilfered from Psalms.)

Wait! Those country singers sometimes sing the oldies? I might have to get back into listening to country more often. But do I still have to listen to a cheating wife stealing the '57 Chevy and the bloodhound too?

Whoa now lets not get over-zealous. They weren't even the best grunge band of the time period. I mean sucks that Cobain offed himself, but the best thing about Nirvana was Dave Grohl.

Do what I did -- get older. I was just horrified to hear myself "singing" with a four part harmony and making the guy singing bass sound like he was an alto! Bad enough Dad thought he was talking to my hubby when he called. I have a man's voice now.

(Should I warn people not to drink coffee when reading some of my posts? I worry I might make someone blow their coffee out the nose sometimes. lol)

What's wrong with CCM?

Simply, it's of the world. CCM does not exalt the Lord Jesus Christ. CCM exalts its 'performers.' CCM promotes the singer and the music, instead of God.

CCM is of the world which is why the world welcomes CCM. Ever notice how CCM is readily accepted by the ungodly? The lost world has never embraced or welcomed the Great Hymns of the Faith.

But they do accept CCM, whether it be "Christian" rock, or "Christian" hip-hop, or "Christian" Rhythm & Blues (R&B). And again, why? Well because CCM is of the world. That is why the world receives and loves CCM.

So called "Christian" rock exalts and elevates the flesh, and not the spirit. Another thing that's wrong with CCM is that CCM artists, a lot of them, sing and perform songs by secular rock groups. (i.e. The band Deliverance has on one of their albums a song ('After Forever') by the wicked and vile rock group Black Sabbath.; 2 Pound Planet sings Bohemian Rhapsody a song by secular group Queen;
DC Talk sings and performs All Apologies by the wicked and blasphemous artist Nirvana.

Furthermore, Rock groups and artists openly admit that their music is ungodly:

"Listen, rock ‘n roll AIN’T CHURCH. It’s nasty business. You gotta be nasty too. If you’re goody, goody, you can’t sing or play it..." (Lita Ford of heavy metal group The Runaways, Los Angeles Times, August 7, 1988).

With her quote, Lita Ford is basically also admitting to the fact that Christianity and Rock and Roll don't mix. You cannot mix them. Even other secular rock artists will admit that.

Newsweek once called Mick Jagger ‘the Lucifer of rock, the unholy roller’ and spoke of ‘his demonic power to affect people.’ (Newsweek, 4 Jan. 1971, quoted in Can we Rock the Gospel, Blanchard, p. 97)

John Lennon:
"I've sold my soul to the DEVIL." (Ray Coleman, Lennon, p.256)

David Bowie:
"Rock has always been THE DEVIL'S MUSIC. . ." (Rolling Stone, Feb. 12, 1976)

"... the whole idea of rock ‘n’ roll is to offend your parents"(Rock drummer King Coffey, The Truth about Rock, p. 30).

To conclude: There is nothing sacred or holy about rock music, whether it is CCM or Secular.
I guess David never made it to Heaven and neither did any of the other rock stars like Habakkuk.

spirit of antichrist is anyone that does not believe that Jesus came in the flesh, most CCM artists confess this, so who really is the false prophet here...yeah the condemner on the audio message and chosen for him.

If CCM bothers you, then heaven will be a nightmare for you.

Repectfully, I completely disagree. There are multiple contemporary Christian singers and bands that do nothing but glorify and exalt the Lord Christ. If you don't agree, I don't believe you are listening not only to their music, but their message. You hear the heavy base beat, the non-organ and piano music, and make judgment without examining it further.

Praise music is another thing. As has been said, much of it is "7/11 music" -- the same seven words repeated eleven times, and that's not praising anything, in my opinion.

But Casting Crowns, 4 King and Country, needtobreathe, are just a very, very few of the musicians out there preaching God's word through music, and many of them are pastors of youth, music, even senior pastors in solid Christian denominations such as the SBC, Evangelical Free, Lutheran (Missouri Synod), and others like them. To condemn all contemporary Christian music simply because it doesn't sound like old-time, traditional church music, is very narrow minded.
