I agree, God has brought many of us out of poverty, Yet I have seen poverty, Our church just asked a few weekends ago for people to give to a fund, so they could give to the people in Haiti who were already in poverty, and just had what they did have destroyed by a hurricane. A few churches we support asked for help, They asked for 20,000, we ended up with 50,000. Praise God.

praise God that he gave us means to help the poor and needy, Who are also our brothers and sisters..

I disagree, the world needs God to feel secure and safe, Money has no security, money comes and Goes. Gods love and forgiveness lasts an eternity.

We are saying the same thing., the world believes in money as security and safety because they don't have Jesus and that is the only thing that stands between them and the streets. That is all they have and can SEE with their own eyes. They don't know Jesus and we need to tell them.

But do you know that many Christians also trust in money and not Jesus? They have salvation and yet they live in fear of not being able to pay the next bill. They fear they will lose their homes and not be able to work. They fear for their children. I was no different than the world when I was a Christian before my great fall into poverty.

Until a believer learns there is no security in money and power, they can't really actually help others. They will ALWAYS be afraid to give up their REAL security (self ability) so they can't freely give. Many believers will work until they are sick. God never meant for us to live like that., That is part of the curse., working by the sweat of your brow (stress and fear)

That is why He tells us to trust Him and not money. He has given us work that is not like the world. We work but we should be working with peace and not be stressed like the world. We don't have to worry where our next meal is coming from when we have learned to give it over to Him. We can all learn the way George Mueller learned. God didn't love George better than us today.

That is awesome Ruth. Wish I could hug you!!! You and I were probably in our situations at the same time LOL. I remember so well the rock bottom of finding no security in self or people or the world. No one to blame, no one to go to. Your maggot infested truck sounds ohhhh soooo familiar sister!!

No, we are by no means perfect and we deal with daily personality and character issues that He is working out of us to be more like Him (yaaayyy) but we sure know from where our help comes from!! It comes from the Lord!!! He took care of His daughters all along and loved us better than we knew He did.

That is really great:) I always hesitate to post anything in these discussions that might rock someone else's faith
There have been a lot of Christians that seemed to have a very personal revelation or understanding of faith and felt like they could get anything from God. I don't mean that in a derogatory way. It is simply that they were empowered with great faith to believe in certain areas and their ministries were incredible and powerful. I see their incredible faith as a gift from God and he used their faith to bring about many great things

I have read stories of certain missionaries and ministers that just seemed to have incredible faith for financial provision, salvation of souls, and healing. John G. Lake and Smith Wigglesworth are two great examples. It wasn't that they demanded or expected God to do anything for them; they just had that close relationship and continual experience of receiving blessings from God for others. There have also been many others that had a life devoted to intercessory prayer and saw many come to Christ.

So, as much I personally think we need to be careful not to make a doctrine out of prosperity or health, I also can't deny that God does answer our prayers and does give us the gift of faith to boldly entreat him.

Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
1 Tim 6:9

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
1 Tim 6:17

Wealth creates a feeling of right and status which often is not deserved.
Lotteries, gambling, the celebrity lifestyle, boasting through facebook of holidays, houses success
creates an impressing bling is everything.

Wealth takes away hard realities of life and makes people think they are safe
when Gods judgement and reality is standing at their door.

I can remember a time I did not know how I was going to pay bills, But God always provided.. I have seen the same in others.

Not everyone is in fear of not being able to eat or pay bills, I agree.

I also will say not everyone who is wondering where their next paycheck will come from. or who will pay their bill, is lacking faith in God.

although, as you said, It is sad when a christian is scared to death,, They should be secure in christ.

Php 4:12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

1Ti 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

Paul knew as well.

so why did God create it if He deed not see then use of it? Can you imagine God creating something without any use of it.

Don't get me wrong please yes this world will pass away with all that is in it but it doesn't mean that we are not heirs of this cosmos while it last!
by the way the word of God says that healing , miracles, prophecy etc, will all pass away.Does this imply that they are not useful for now?
How do you and Lynn's statements reconcile with Matt 6.19-21?

[SUP]19 [/SUP]“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. [SUP]20 [/SUP]But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; [SUP]21 [/SUP]for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

The last post in my rant, I wish we could separate the health and wealth from the gospel. Because they are not related. and I can start to see why people have problems with a certain teacher now.

His gospel is spot on. I have no problem with it, But when he tries to mix WOF or Health and wealth, it taints his message.
This is also my sole issue and why I went on a rant yesterday...His use of Romans 4.13 was out of bounds and wrong.
Not one verse of Romans 4 can be properly used to justify what JP tried to make 4.13 say....

That said, it is par for the course for WOF ministers....I have disclosed before and will right now, that I have to watch my flesh when talking about the WOF.

We were part of this coven of Laodiceans for a few years. I know all the condemnation apologetics and all the deceptions.

Lynn's attempt to paint me as she did is not her fault, it is what they are taught to do, just as subtly as Eve was told to take a bite...

I do not disagree with everyone points here about receiving to give, that having money is not evil, etc, I also believed in the complete work of Jesus and he does things through us...not any of that is what I have issue with...

I personally believe the wealth message is corrupting the body so bad, that all people are working with God for is their next personal blessing....and that is what I really take issue with....

Are you the Sea of Galilee or the Dead Sea? Are you laying treasures up here or in Heaven? What is your motivation for confessing for a blessing all the time? Is it to expand the kingdom, or expand your wallet?

I know for a fact that God's will is not for everyone to have abundant or even moderate wealth...The parable of Talents and the Mina's show us this....God gives according to our ability, not out of thin air....

Some of you really need to wake up and stop reading certain People for awhile[not because of the noise about them being a false teacher or anything] and get into the world for yourselves...

I know a lot of Christians missionaries who are laying their lives down for the Lord every day, and every day they do not know where their next meal is coming from. Some do more for the cause of Christ in a year than many of us do in a lifetime and yet, they die poor, hungry and diseased. We are not of this world. This is not our home.

Why would I need riches here on earth? The Christian's blessings are spiritual blessing kept in store in the heavenly places. That's what I seek.

Colossians 3
1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
The gospel is free but taking it to all nations, is quite expensive! That is why God gives us the glory of the World(money) so that we can take the glory of God (Christ) to the world!!!

If you must know, God is no one business man!

It's hard to know someone's heart intentions here in a post Eph610. I was rejoicing about Jesus and you were taking me to mean that somehow that was somehow putting you down. I was not attempting to paint you as anything at all.

We don't know each other personally and can only respond to the posts here. When you asked if this was all just about lynn and if she ever gave to anyone else or just basically wanted all she could get in a selfish manner the way you see other word of faith believers. How can I answer that? It sort of surprised me coming from you like something out of left field. I wondered; where is he getting this?

But I couldn't help but rejoice and be happy. The Holy Spirit gives those rivers of living water and they flow within us and out of us. That wasn't a put down., it was what was happening at the time I wrote you yesterday. I was taught by the Holy Spirit to recognize and flow in Him. No man can teach us how to do that Eph610.

I didn't learn it from those people you call "word of faith" who you seem to know. I don't know them those elusive horrible people that are always mentioned here on CC by others here too. I've even been accused of being one of "them" Who are those people? those "thems" and "they's" ??? I don't know "them". But apparently I'm one of them and have learned from them. That's news to me!

If you personally believe the "wealth message" as you see it is corrupting the body than that is your personal belief. There are Christians like me who are learning to have an expectant heart towards the Lord. I'm learning to expect good and not evil all the days of my life. This is a good thing to learn how to believe Jesus will take care and meet all my needs so I don't have to. I can just rest in Him and give as freely has He has given me. This is a good thing. He is our example.

This expands the Good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all we come in contact with. The treasures we are laying up are in heaven because they are not from the world but from the Holy Spirit. He flows in and through us. That is Biblical. We are blessed to be a blessing. And yes, our lives are blessed and more blessed every day. John 7:38

A confession of the goodness of God is a good and right thing. Declaring the goodness and mercy and grace of God is always a good thing. We get up in the morning and prepare to follow Jesus the Good Shepherd. We have much to look forward to. Again, read Psalm 23 and believe the promises for yourself.

This is hardly a put down or some kind of putting myself above you or anyone. These are promises for all of us! God doesn't give me according to my ability, He gives me according to His abundant grace in Christ Jesus. So yes, it's a blessed way to live.

Wake up? I have praise Jesus to His love and grace.

Here are promises that are so profound I can't for the life of me understand why people would actually believe and teach that God's children can never overcome sin in their lives. Nowhere in the bible are we told that we will always sin, or that we can never stop sinning. Quite contrary is the fact that the whole bible is full of commands to DO. Action words that tell us that there are things we must do in order to be saved. But we are not to do them with the idea we are earning salvation. Not only are there things we must do to be saved there are many places in the new testament alone that tell us what we MUST NOT DO in order to be saved. Obedience and works are the fruit of faith they do not earn faith. One of my favorite verses John 14:15 If you love me, keep my commandments. If we love we will do and not try to find the one obscure verse that does not exist that might lead one to believe that we can not overcome.

Anyway, in John 17 we read the prayer of Jesus for His disciples and toward the end of the prayer He ads those who are saved through their testimony. I have counted 14 very wonderful promises which we are to claim NOW while alive on this planet. Here is John 17 and the promises are bold and underlined. Some are so profound and so far fetched that it takes the righteousness of faith, Christ's righteousness imputed to us, to accept them, and claim them as our own.

Joh:17:1: These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
Joh:17:2: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
Joh:17:3: And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Joh:17:4: I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
Joh:17:5: And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
Joh:17:6: I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
Joh:17:7: Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
Joh:17:8: For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
Joh:17:9: I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
Joh:17:10: And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
Joh:17:11: And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
Joh:17:12: While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
Joh:17:13: And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
Joh:17:14: I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Joh:17:15: I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
Joh:17:16: They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
Joh:17:17: Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
Joh:17:18: As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
Joh:17:19: And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
Joh:17:20: Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
Joh:17:21: That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
Joh:17:22: And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
Joh:17:23: I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
Joh:17:24: Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
Joh:17:25: O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
Joh:17:26: And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

For anybody to read and understand all these promises then say that "obedience is not necessary for salvation" or say that the Holy Spirit is not powerful enough to give us victory over every sin in our lives??? We are saved by grace through faith, but it does not end there, that is just the beginning of our Christian walk of sanctification.

If scripture says that " the earth is the lord's and the fullness there of" and we are heirs of this world, why do you think that doesn't included riches!
do you really know why this world was created in the first place? it was created for sons of God! The problem is that we tend to allow things to posses us! Our Heavenly Father doesn't want things to posses us!!
OK..... are all of us that aren't upper middle class, regardless of denomination & doctrine untrustworthy, or we walking in unbelief? CAUSE WE AIN'T GOT IT! Jesus didn't have it! Paul didn't have it! None of Paul's fellow laborers had it! The church at Jerusalem didn't have it! Christians in 3rd world countries don't have it! Prosperity doctrine is of the Devil, period.

Amen Stephen.

The ONLY time faith in Christ grew was during times of adversity, but especially during times of most severe persecution. If we follow God's people from Jesus, even back to Noah, we will find that the Israelites were often being punished by God to bring them back to Him. The disciples lived in the time of the most severe persecution. The reformers were severely tried and burned. The RCC murdered over 100 million because they would not join the RCC. NOW during this time of the "prosperity gospel" many will come to church to have that "feel good" religion, but good feelings or sincerity will never save anybody. Faith is not feeling, but feelings are SOMETIMES associated with faith. The bible tells me in 2Timothy:3:12: "Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution." To stand for truth today is just as hard as when Jesus was on earth. Try to buck any denominational doctrine with a pastor.

How does God punish a New Covenant believer? What does that look like today?
